  • Part 1, where I restore a La Pavoni Europiccola pre-millennium, from 1983. It's in rough shape, so I'm doing the mechanical part first, replacing all gaskets and o-rings. Electrical and cosmetics are next.
Part 2 is here: • Pre-millennium La Pavo...

I'll be restoring a 1978->1983 and this will come in so handy. Thank you so much for this!!!

Without any previous knowledge on Lapavoni maintenance it took me around one and a half hour to replace basically all seals to have this more than 40 years old machine ready for operation. As you predicted the glass was stuck so I had to brake it and replace it with new one. Now I’m making around 3-4 espressos per day so the restoration was indeed successful thank to this great video 👍 Again, thank you so much for sharing this walkable knowledge!

This is incredibly helpful. Many thanks! I’m shopping for secondhand a La Pavoni, which I’m anticipating will need at least some degree of repair/restoration.

This is just amazing. I have an old 1960's version that I'm restoring, and this will be unbelievably helpful!

still prefer these older unit's, the fact that they are still running with proper maintenance is great, love this brown one

    Hello
You need to descale you machine before you change the gaskets, piston and sleeve pretty much calcinated best is citric acid

      @moderatelyuseful  Před 2 lety +1

You can't really descale if it's leaking from everywhere :)

It would be really helpful if you put each video for each machine you restore into a playlist. It would be very useful as viewers looking for particular models you've restored could locate your videos.

Danke , schöne Erklärung . Aber warum machst du die Sachen nicht sauber bevor du sie zusammen baust ?

I have the model that is 1960's ish. I bought it in 1971. Naples, Italy. It's vintage for sure because it has a switch on the side massimo and maximo. I have been following your instructions. However, the part where you disconnect the coffee/lever part from the body of the boiler is not attached to the boiler on mine. What's the best way to clean it out plus what about the O ring and gasket?

I've never even touched a la pavoni machine, and you may be about to explain the thought process, but why replace the gaskets prior to descale? even if the descale doesnt harm the gaskets, wouldnt be able to more directly contact any scale with the gaskets removed?
Thank you for this great video, its giving me confidence to find one to do this with. :)

That might be correct, but it's also kind of hard to descale if everything leaks. This one was all crispy, so I did the gaskets first. On other machines, I descale first.

How do I remove the plastic base without breaking it? Have an old europiccola and want to check for leaks and rust.

The special pliers seems essential, so where can I buy it?

This is such a good video- thank you for the details! Do you know the name of the basket inside the group head?

@17:09 which gasket is this to hold the screen? The gasket (part 82) from the official part sheet that I bought is way too lose for me.

I’m having a hard time with removing the pin inside the group head. I’m using needle nose pliers to try to remove it but no luck. Any tips? Thank you!

If you mean the entire piston, brute force with a rubber or wooden mallet works. You'll just need some new seals.
