A detailed comparison with my pair from Christmas, 1993 straight from JC Penny. The good old days when they sold Jordan's and our local Chicagoland shops had all the championship gear as well.

imma be real i like how the 2023 playoffs look , they retro's so they gone make adjustments like they do every release , its a bit funny though how they fixed some things but switched up other things form the 2013 joints they released . The 8's though are a sneaker which og jordan fans mostly only wear , great comparison

Legit review, really well done dude! You hit on all the same points I found with these except for the red bottom soles- I didn't catch that part. Overall same thoughts- 7.5 but happy with these. Something else I noticed about the 2023 retro- The textured durabuck gives the the color almost a slightly ligher appearance than the suede on the straps, it reminded me of the "92 playoffs having that subtle difference.

As a 13 years old Chinese boy in 1993, Michael Jordan was a nonsense to me until the day I saw there’s an exchange students from Japan had this definitely the most exotic and colorful space-origin-footwear-like looking object on his feet running on our basketball court. I was like a virgin saw something…I can’t say too much detail about it but u know what I mean… and it was after that day I understood there a new world far from mine called NBA and there’s a bold handsome looking guy whose name is Michael Jordan wearing same pair of shoes-like object… aj8 is the one and only Air Jordan to me, bought this pair when I just aware it got released this year yesterday, so many nostalgic memories back to me🎉
That's great man, thanks for sharing! Interestingly enough, as a local Bulls fan in the 80s and 90s my roots to the shoe is the opposite. Watching MJ wear these what are now timeless classics first hand made me want them all. This was my 2nd pair of Jordan's and will stay with me forever, great memories

Yeah man, the 2015 retro was so good. I just hope they get shapes and cuts right and build off of that for next release. Seems to not be the case as we see here
I notice the Jordan logo on the box on the 2023 is in front of the “air Jordan” instead of in back of it.
Also i was born same year this shoe originally released n the shoe looks great on feet
their both dope, but i’m leaning towards the 23’s and with that i’ll probably cop the 23’s

The toe box is the best on the 2023 imo but the 93 has the best cuts, overall shape and matieral.
Yeah, I'm just not a fan of the pointed toe and even by the first lace hole. For this overall design it doesn't flow for me. Maybe just because I've seen my og pair for 30 years it looks weird to me lol
The toebox is best on the 2015 Aqua’s, like he said. The 2023 playoffs don’t even have the same shape as the OG. It’s sad that a shoe 8 years ago perfected the shape better than the newest thing out. Just shows Nikes laziness.

I did not expect these bad boys to sell out hopefully i can find a pair on eBay for a reasonable price but i definitely like the OG pair better . Nice toe box on the 2023 pair but thats it in my opinion. Great review !

After seeing these up close, I like these, but I'm going to keep my 07s. Definitely not red tab, but the closest to the OG in my humble opinion...
Toe box shape is definitely weird on these. Nothing like the original, just wish they stuck with 2015 retro template it would've easily been best retro to date

The white lining in the upper of the original really helps the shoe. The lack of it in the new retro makes it look too plain.
Right.. same with black infrared 6 etc. Just look at the black aqua 6 coming out, so bland
With wear they’ll get the white lines naturally. Nowadays people don’t wear any shoe enough to allow it to happen
@quintonm.5314 the originals had the white edges from DS condition. With heavy wear it is possible for the edge wear to have the same effect I think depending on the materials used

These are a 8 man they did a phenomenal job besides the toe cut but i believe they wanted a More uniformed Look fron the side Profile of the shoe
For me they should've stuck with 2015 aqua specs. Beyond the toe with mudguard, white edges source a better material and ribbed heel/ankle segments. Not sure why they changed all that when they had it correct

For an original colorway, I want to see them look like the original release I've had since 93. '15 they had it all in place with aqua and did a 180 here lol
@ogorbust1697 I get it man.. lol. You WANT OG. my last 2 pairs of 8s were from 07. The playoffs and the aquas. Although I loved them the shape got loose over time, made em look alil old and wide. especially the white outline and if u rock the laces unstrapped . I think the new shape help them appear fresher longer imo, I just like the overall look. I think JB did a good job

It's amazing how much better the white edges look on the original vs. the 2023. How did Nike fuck that up? I like the original's shape better too ... next to the originals, these look like average/below average reps. for $210. Great video but I kinda wish I didn't watch it because I cannot unsee the lack of white edges and shape.

They feel way more narrow than I remember. My pinky toe is struggling in these. I didn't have that issue on the last retro. Would've sized up if I knew that
I think it’s just the break in, that problem went away from me, after 3-4 heavy wears.
Could very well be that pointed toe box causing the issue
I actually got a half size smaller that usual and they feel great.

That's my only issue, the arch or curve of the top towards the back heel. From the back view you can see that the retro is wider than the original
There is a size difference from 9 to 11 but I do agree the retro is wider even just looking from the build
@ogorbust1697 I remember the straps being closer together exposing only a small portion of the velcro...you can tell the guys on the "redesign" team at nike (were not) are not original sneakerheads
No 1 is talking about the 2 toned black on the 2023 pair. Jordan brand messed it up with that. It's not true the og. My playoff 8s from 2013 is not 2 toned nor is the aqua from 2015.
I wish Jordan brand could bring back Durabuk
I think the higher booty on the 93 version was done this way cause people used to actually ball in Jordans. Not that it wasn't a fashion statement then, but it's more now than ever so no need for the extra ankle support if ya catch my drift.
Yeah,the jordans back in the day was latest tech and performance driven and more casual sense these days. It just looks better higher and can actually be seen better. The new retro pointed toe box is by far worse thing about the new retro, pinky toe rubbers. I hope a few more wears it loosens up. They should've just kept the 2015 mold, aqua was damn near perfect toe

Which part about the straps to toe box maybe? The og and 2015 has more curve in the cuts down to the toe box where the strap starts at the toe basically

Why would you complain about the tag not being on the tongue? That's a huge upgrade so you can actually see the entire design on the tongue
I like the tags behind the tongue like many og nike models in the 90s. The side of the lining im just not a fan of seems out of place. I get what you're saying covering the graphics though but that never bothered me

The 2023 shape is far off!!! Even tho these are close to the OG’s but they look terrible. Without the white edges and the back of the shoe doesn’t have much detail. I rather pass on these and rock my 2013 playoffs. Thanks for the video because you saved me $210 dollars.
