    TL3 is underrated. The robot is a cool, unique class. And the legendarium is great.

    Picked it up for around USD $5. Been avoiding it for years because of bad reviews but my curiosity got the best of me. Thanks for re-reviewing it all these years later. I'm a fan of your style!

    I maxed out 2 characters and still have it downloaded on my Nintendo switch. I enjoyed it for what it is. I mean it’s not game of the year or anything by any means but still is something you can enjoy.

    I’m late but as a big fan of Diablo-like games, it’s easy to say that TL3 is a greatly dumbed down game but simultaneously, it’s also doesn’t have a lot of unique things to have it’s own identity. Instead of being an ARPG, it now feels more like an ARPG-lite. I can see that they’re trying to make the game like a traditional ARPG, but changed too much stuff as an attempt to make it unique. Such as removing the classic stat-based level up system and went with an automatic attribute level up. Everything feels too simple and as I said, dumbed down. Which is very very disappointing considering that TL2 is a pretty deep ARPG with a lot of builds you can make. TL2 is quite literally a successor to D2 and did so many things better than even D3.
    Though imma be honest, I still enjoy TL3 and have pretty good fun with it but not as an ARPG which is not really a compliment. The only way I can describe TL3 is that it feels more like an adventure ARPG-lite game. More akin to something like the Magicka games or Hades if Hades is not a roguelike. Regardless, I’d rather play TL3 than D4. TL3 is still fun and enjoyable and far from being a bad game. D4 is a major disappointment. If anyone read this and you still wonder if you should buy TL3, I’d recommend it if you get a discount. As of writing this, I think it’s on sale for about 70% which is a great deal. Buy TL3 over D4.
    Edit: One thing I forgot to mention is that, TL3 bosses are actually fun to play compared to the previous TL games. Hell, I think all of the bosses in TL3 are more fun than D1 and D2 bosses. There are now properly choreographed attacks which forces you to dodge those attacks and forces you to do other things besides running away from the boss whilst healing or tanking damage.

    People haven't been hard on it without a reason. Devs were lazy and greedy - did a mobile iteration and they were ready to pile a mountain of gold via microtransactions over a pile of garbage. Gamers showed them middle finger and they 'apologise' and recoded it to 'torchlight 3'. Not much peeps believed them and that's why it's dead and down voted. Loved TL and TL2. This was spit in a face.

    These guys made legendary games like Diablo 1 & 2, great games like torchlight 1 & 2, but Torchlight 3 is really bad.

      Torchlight 3 has it's problems but its not a bad game. Average at worst.

      Blizzard made the Diablo games, not Torchlight.

    • @agrume_music
      @agrume_music Před 10 měsíci +5

      @@DragonthornX the guys who founded runic games were the same guys who created the Diablo franchise. They quit Blizzard North after they made Diablo 2, then developped their own IP : Torchlight.
      The way the franchise evolved was the same as Diablo. The first one takes place in a mine where you have to go deeper and kill the last boss in the lower stage. Exactly like Diablo 1 in the Cathedral. Torchlight 2 was more opened and had an extended world with dungeons on maps, exactly like Diablo 2.
      My issue with Torchlight 3 was that the gameplay was slowed down too much, there was too much mechanics going on with your build since level 1 with your spells, relics and legendary affixes, then nothing new is introduced. The game wanted to be multiplayer based ARPG but you barely find someone, even in the early days, and when you got lucky and did find someone to play with, oh boy... the lag was a pain in the ass. The classes were designed to be some hybrid style, but you ended up playing the super duper meta Forged, because it was god SSS tier while the rest was just OK. Like, Forged is incredibly good at melee, it has a really powerful range kit, it was tanky, dealt tons of damages, was fast (in a game where everything else was way slower).
      Torchlight 3 is fun to play once. But it has none of the replayability of the first 2 games because when you reach the end, you just forget it was installed on your computer, then end up to uninstall it because you need storage for the new PoE league update. Torchlight 3 is just another forgettable game

    • @TheEngineeringBayOfficial
      @TheEngineeringBayOfficial  Před 10 měsíci +3

      @@agrume_music I agree the multiplayer has issues and is by far the biggest problem when you have a game like this which is focused on multiplayer. I actually like how the classes are done in this game because they feel unique compared to something like older Diablo games. the Rail master for example is incredibly fun and has a lot of cool skills. Torchlight 2 is a much stronger game overall and id always prefer to play that over Torchlight 3, however Torchlight 3 can be fun even if its only the single player. I don't think the games bad because I genuinely had fun with the game. So to put it in context the game is at worst a 5/10 and at best a 6/10.

    The game has potential, sure, but its still bad, fighting the same bosses with 1 million hp over and over is just not fun. the characters and abilities are cool there are some really good ideas, but the game itself is just bad after a couple hours it gets tedious.

  • @gravysamich
    @gravysamich Před 4 měsíci +1

    Nah... its still bad. Maybe in a vacuum i would call it average, but it exists in genre with absolute titans. Even the little bit of fun i could squeeze from it was immensely overshadowed by the feeling that i could have way more fun with any other game in the genre or even just its predecessor. That right there is the biggest mark against TL3. It just can't compete for someone's attention.

      you cant even compare torchlight infinite to any of the existing torchlight games, its in its own space, completely different dev team, it just carries the name
      and tbh its pretty good and getting better and better each season, it has pretty deep character customization / item system
