These were totally bullet proof PCs, still are really. I just added a newer Xeon to mine for $50, popped in an older Nvidia GTX card, 24GB of ram with SSD and bang! Won't play the latest stuff, but plenty of fun on the older title games and it still functions perfectly as a daily driver workstation. This one is for the wife. Next to build a T5500 for the living room rig hooked to the 70" w00t!
They’ve been reliable for me. I have one as my main PC at the office. I didn’t change the CPU, but I should. I put in 24 GB of RAM, an SSD, and a 1060 I got for free from recycling. It does a good job.
@@G6TechnologyServicesIt pleases me to know that you still respond to recent comments on old videos
I try to reply to everyone.
I have a ×2 16gb Kingston PC3L and it won't start, do you think the ram is an overkill, I keep hearing beeps but no display
Hot tip I've been using for sticker residue that learned ago. Use some heavy duty packaging tape and roll it up sticky side out and press the sticky side against the stuck on adhesive and pull it off again and again, fast. Comes off smooth within a few mins. Could save you some time and stickers lol.
Thanks, I’ll have to try that next time!
I just spray on some wd40 and let it sit for a few min then wipe it clean off.
I have this PC, it works perfectly
I have used a T3500 on and off for a while now. I'm getting ready to put it back in service to I can repair the PC I am using at this moment. I originally had a Xeon W3565 but upgraded to an X5660.
Very soon I will move to an X5690.
I also have ordered an PCIe USB 3.0 card. If you are going to use one of these for gaming, make sure and don't use the original all aluminum heat sink, it was inadequate and Dell released a heat pipe replacement, the U016
Good to know! Good luck on your project!
Or a Xeon W3690 its the same as the x5690 same clocks and speed. The 5690 can be used in dual socket while the w3690 is solo socket. Other than that they are same specs.
I think to get tri-channel working properly for the RAM, you should've put the matching sticks in alternating slots. i.e. all the blue sticks in the slots with white clips, all the green sticks in the slots with black clips. Ultimately though I doubt it makes much difference in performance.
I have this PC. It s very good. I don t have problems with it
They are very reliable!
I am planning to get a t3500 and upgrade it to a 6 core 12 threads processor.
That would be a good upgrade! 4 cores were good back then, but more are better!
did you ever faced the problem, that the values in the bios did not keep saved?
i already replaced the cmos battery, but everytime after hitting APPLY, the changes are gone ( hyperthread or ammount of drives... )
any suggestion anybody?
Hey glad to see you back. Im pretty sure ive watched every video on your channel, and was bored waiting for a new one. Can we get an updated office tour?
Wow, thanks! I’ll see what I can do about a new office tour. I have to clean up a bit first! Lol
I have this computer I am actually in the process of fully modding it so far the only game it hasn't played is wh40 dark tide I get a shader cache builder error I'm assuming I need a better graphics card
They're pretty decent old computers.
Nice video, can i ask if the the motherboard uses standard atx mounting or is it different?
thank u
Hi, I have a Dell T3500 with an Xpdfk board, can I put this board in 1060 or 1650?
you should also repaste the noth bridge/chipset
Good suggestion.
Also where is the memory cover that the T3500 has???
You can see it at 27:39. I forgot to put it back in during the reassembly shot and did it off camera.
I fixed up a T3500 last week. popped in a better Xeon and 6x 2gb of ram but for some reason the ram is clocked at 1066 eventhough the ram and cpu should support 1333mhz. Did I miss a setting or someting? already updated the BIOS as well. Thanks in advance!
P.s. RAM is 3x Geil and 3x Corsair sticks, would the different branding matter? These are the best kits I have for it ....
I'm not sure. I know this system is picky about RAM. You could try only putting in one brand at a time and check the speed.
The only reason why a T3500 would have the lower RAM speeds of 1066 is because your CPU only supports that speed. The Bloomfield architecture, like the W3565 only support 1066. Upgrade to an X5660, X5670 , 80 or 90 and you'll get 1333
Linus tech tips said that the difference between 1066 and 1333 was so low it almost didn't matter, I think they said 3%
thanks for the very informative video. I also have a dell t3500 but the drive tray doesn't go all the way down because it seems to be blocked by the front fan assembly, do you have any solution for that?
I’m glad you liked the video! I would make sure the fan assembly is seated all the way down. It should have a screw also to hold it in place if I remember correctly.
can you get the windows 10 with a nvidia quadro FX 580
What should be the settings in the BIOS to install windows 10 on Dell precision t3500
There's nothing really specific. It should work with default settings. If you're getting the PC second hand, I would reset the BIOS to factory in case someone made an unusual change. I usually try to get it working in UEFI mode if I can, but if not, legacy BIOS mode is fine. Make sure Hyperthreading is enabled if applicable. I usually like to change the operating mode of the storage controller to AHCI instead of RAID.
The board is a x58 motherboard.
Good to know!
I have a T3500 with a 550W OEM power supply, would this be enough for a RTX 2060 GPU? I'll need to get a 6 pin to an 8 pin connector though?
The Xeon W3530 has a TDP of 130 W and the RTX 2060 spec sheet says it draws up to 160 W, so 290 W total. The Nvidia spec sheet recommends a 500 W power supply. It should be fine if you don't have a bunch of power hungry accessories. I don't recall what PCIe power connector is in the T3500. It is possible you would need the 6 pin to 8 pin adapter.
Can I ask if this kind of motherboard are compatible with different kind of case? If yes, what case can you recommend. And also sorry for my bad English.
unfortunately its a non standard motherboard so no
una consulta a estás PC Dell t3500 se les puede poner memorias Ram de 8gb??? 🤔🤔🤔
They officially support 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, or 24 GB. dl.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dell_precision_workstation/precision-t3500_service%20manual_en-us.pdf Page 74

What is the highest power graphics card I can put in this and not have it bottle neck? I have 12gb of ram and a 6 core 12 thread xeon in it. I have a 550w power supply.
Я использую gtx 1060 6 GB. В dayZ, insurgency sandstorm поиграть достаточно
@@fear95m97 thanks. Would a 1080 ti work ok?
Do you think it would work with an rtx 3060 or rx 6700 xt card? Thanks.
I would recommend against doing that. At some point with higher end cards, the CPU in this machine will become the bottleneck. It would work just fine, but the card would be severely handicapped in games with that 12 year old Xeon CPU.
The other issue with this machine is the power supply. These only come with a single 6-pin PCI-e power connecter. You would need to upgrade the power supply to fit anything that requires more, which you could do relatively easily with this machine, but there really isn't a point. Unless you have one of those cards laying around, I would go for something more balanced with the CPU. I'm upgrading one of these for my brother and we are going for an RX 570
@@windowsdylan8807 I'm really surprised how great it runs with a 6600xt. I image scale and it's been a really good gaming machine
Can you upgrade the core processor on this system to a ryzen 7 or similar alternative?
No, you can't put an AMD CPU in this system. According to a forum post, you can install Intel Xeon CPUs in the 3600, 5600, 3500, and 5500 series. I haven't tried to upgrade the CPU, so you would have to try at your own risk. www.google.com/search?q=precision+t3500+compatible+cpus

Can I install windows 11 on this pc❓
I’m not sure. I don’t know if it has a TPM or if it’s compatible. I just used Windows 10 on it.
I installed 24bg of ram .. and the machine reads it but it shows 24gb(16 usable) .. my system is 64bit and im using gtx1650 and xeon x5680

Basically
T3500 the cheapest rig to play games. problem is avx is missing so most new game wont run. but the small games like csgo fortnite ect run good. just dont think you going to play warzone on this.
The customer understood there would be limitations. It is a budget build.

A 1060 for this Prozessor? You know what a Bottleneck is, don´t you? You've done great work, but for the 1060 a Xeon X5690 is nessecary to use the full Power of the GPU. Close Buddy....but no Cigar.
You’re absolutely right. We were just using what was on hand at the time. It was a budget build and the customer didn’t want to pay for a different CPU and that was the only graphics card available locally at the time. In an ideal world, the components would be better matched. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
