I wish my church would play this song. Spider-Man 2 is still my favorite movie with the great messages of god’s word on choice, redemption, and life
I am not a Christian, but I do appreciate the concept of what you say. People are far more than they realize, and the light that we see in ourselves can be used to do things that echo into each corner of the universe. Therefore, we must be careful of what things we do, and when we fall short of our beliefs and of our highest standards for ourselves, and those of Love, we should not sit beneath the crushing weight of guilt, but should instead seek out redemption for ourselves and find our way back to the path we wished to walk. Life is beautiful, and its pain allows us the ability to experience its joy, and it seems that the deepest fulfillment and deepest joy is felt when offering this experience to those around us.
Spiderman represents some of this. A man who is getting to know who and what he is, making mistakes, but seeking to regain his footing and move back onto the path he wished to follow. He is a good symbol of this struggle.

The fact that you can feel God through a secular song indicates that feeling "the holy spirit" is just your own emotions tricking you. If you can be fooled so easily, then you can pick a different religion and feel the exact same way about their gods. 😂🤣

Kinda odd a church would cover a song about a man being vindicated after a failed relationship that was toxic and that is why he is vindicated.... because he knows he did wrong he isn’t perfect but the hope she saw in him in the beginning faded away in her eyes because she was toxic and got bored. This song is about a vindicated man out of a relationship. Not about god. This is pretty pathetic.
We sometimes saw ourselves as a failure. A selfish and sinful human. We did things we thought were right until we realize it isn't. But God, He vindicated us humans. Despite of all the wrong we've done, he forgives us. We lose hope on our selves but He never did. He knows that at some point, we'll do the right thing. Now give this song a listen. One more time. And tell me if it's just for failed relationships. ;)

He recognizes he is born in sin but can find redemption in Christ, “i am flawed, but I’m cleaning up so well”. There is no indication that there was a consummated relation. ‘One touch and i’ll be in , so let me slip away away’ His desire is to avoid the temptation. There is no indication of a “failed relationship”. He is not asking for redemption for having sinned, but the strength to avoid sinning.

Actually this song is about abstinence. Read the lyrics. He is swimming against the current. He is asking god to let him “slip away” to avoid the temptation.

You have to read the lyrics. This song is about abstinence. He wants to swim “against the current” he’s asking god to give him the strength to let him slip away. Though I say him because the author is male but this could apply to a girl.
