    More commonly called The West Australian Pitcher Plant, as there are nepenthese that are native to North Queensland (along with New Guginea), with N. Mirabilis being one.

    I just potted mine in peat&perlite, a change from the lfs that it came in when I first bought it. I have plants in peat and perlite that keep drying out so I'm hoping it's going to be a way better substrate than the lfs because I think my cephalotus is too wet. Because it keeps going in cycles where it grows and then dies over and over and I can't get it to get big. But it's a step up because before this one I couldn't even keep them alive past the first month of purchase! And I have had this one for three years and even propagated it! Now if only I can make it get bigger I will be so excited!

    @sazji Před rokem

    Nice presentation. I haven't found it difficult at all (except for one long stubborn mite infestation) but I agree that drainage is key. People grow Cephalotus in lots of different substrates. I use 60:40 medium perlite to peat, some grow in more pumice, or peat/sand mixtures, while others grow in pure sphagnum, but good drainage, often with tall pots ensuring that the root zone doesn't stay waterlogged, seems to be the common element throughout for those who succeed.
    If the plants aren't flowering, a cooler winter could definitely be what will trigger it.

    Finally thank you sooo much. I live in Myanmar and I ordered a juvenile cephalotus from Bangkok and when it came, it came in a very good condition but the next morning when I check it shriveled up and died, what happened?

    • @AtraxJoe
      @AtraxJoe Před 3 lety +3

      Could happened cause of several reasons: e.g. cause of a shock caused by the transport. Cephalotus sp. hate high temperatures, the temp shouldn't exceed 28 or max 30°C for more than a few days. If the temperature rises constantly over 26°C, a reduction in temperature at night is very very important. At least under 20°C.
      As in the video mentioned, well drained substrate is essential for the roots.
      If u repot a Cephalotus sp., it's very important that the temperatures are as low as possible. After a repot or after a transport, Cephalotus sp. are very stressed and need more cool conditions to recover.
      Another reason why your Cephalotus sp. shriveled could be - have u refilled the pitchers after u received it? Same like with nepenthes, just refill the pitchers with rain or distilled water.
      Cheers.

      Usually, these plants are grown in the extremely high humidity of greenhouses and will
      Shrivel up if their new home has lower humidity. If the plant had high humidity, it shouldn’t have dried up. Or maybe it really just hated shipping. Sorry:/
