Also the motor issues could not be more relatable with me. I have a tinny with a tohatsu 18hp engine (fairly new as well). These motors are known to be absolutely bullet proof (like top of the range reliability and personality). Then one day I was roaring up the upper noosa river and the fuel pump buggered itself!!!!! Good thing my $600 watersnake up the front got me home!! Its so funny that the exact same thing (on a much smaller scale) happneded to me recently. I feel the exact same thing about the motor as you feel about yours.

Spanish don't release well either way. They shouldn't really be fished for sport in the first place. They are usually in the same place as large sharks and they are extremely fragile even when kept in the water.
Thx for sharing mate. Keep vids coming. Sucks when “new” shit breaks. Jeep renegade was 4 mos old when it lost water pump radiator & cooling fan. Been through 5 batteries in 7 years. A true lemon. But being 100k at sea & having a breakdown like that w new boat would make me lose my shit. Good on u being the diplomat - it happened & u can’t change anything about it afterward. 🤙🏼

I was out out at the Swains on the Kanimbla and a guy caught an 82lb mack off the back of the boat while everyone was having breakfast, it took half a dozen pilchards on a gang rig under a balloon.

Biggest mackerel I've seen in Massachusetts is what they call a horse mackerel. And if it weighs 5 lbs , it's a monster ! LOL Great video

@@JonnyBrooksFishing brooksy all your GT fishing tips have been working wonders for our mini version here in Florida - jack crevalle. Poppers with upgraded and barbless trebles have been my go to this summer. I run much lighter tackle than you guys, our jacks max out around 10-15kg. But we call them “canal tuna” for a reason. They are psycho and tons of fun to fight.
For the price and weight of those lithium batteries it would be a good insurance policy to keep a couple extras onboard as a lifeline.
Which Yamaha 150 is that mate? I have a F150XB. Interested to know incase I may need to have a looky look into it

Mate fuck yeah mackerel of a lifetime I've only ever caught and seen one mackerel in real life, and it was a 1.20m. Good job on the CZcams vids keep them up love it.

So as a keen fisherman that spends bulk time on the water you support your local VMR team by being a member surely which is also handy when dramas like this happen, 1 free tow a year.
There’s a bit of fine print around the 1 free tow isn’t there? Up to a certain distance free, every hour after that $360 i thought? I could be wrong

Heavy issue to have honestly I've done 2000hrs on my first yamaha and apart from oil changes ever 100hr never put a spanner on it. Was on my commercial crayboat.
That’s what i was after when purchasing a yammy also mate. Hoping they can find some kind of solution as I’m shitting myself everytime I’m out wide waiting for it to happen again

Great video thanks for sharing. Bit of poor form on your behalf mentioning the issue of the Yamaha that you don't want to make an issue. The responsibility of your vessel and crew is yours not Yamaha, with break-downs a part of the business. Did you call VMR and ask them what the procedure is if this happens again and you need do need assistance? if you prepare for it you will never need it.
It’s a brand new engine haha and they aren’t cheap. Like i said I’m not making a big shit show about it as all things can break but I’m also not gonna pretend it didn’t happen. VMR was my last resort, could’ve radio called them but didn’t want to unless all other options were exhausted.
You handled that incredibly well mate. You didn’t shit can anyone…. You just made people aware that motors can break (which is not ideal when you’re 90km’s offshore) Glad you got home safe.
