You got this! Stay off drugs, keep in shape and get some customer service experience so you’re a natural at dealing with people by the time you’re ready to be a trooper. Also don’t speed, use your turning signals, and try not to get fired from any jobs. Remember you have to have some college credits or be former military to be a trooper so study hard!

@@jeremygrigsby7456 that’s a good way to think, I decided to make my way through dispatch. If you don’t mind the pay, It definitely gives you a good understanding of the job. And everyone I work with has become pretty much family. All within 3 months of being here.
Most troopers will tell you to just apply to be a trooper. But I recommend going through dispatch to get a feeling of what you’ll be working with on the road.

@@jeremygrigsby7456 - Sorry but I can't help but laugh at your comment about not caring about pay. I've seen that comment so many times just like pensions. Those who don't care about it now because they just want to be a trooper here, or a city cop there but then they get some years on and suddenly the light goes on in their head and it becomes very important to them. If you don't have a family now but will in the future, what they pay is going to be very important. Many troopers have to work a lot of off-duty details to make ends meet which puts a strain on their marriage because between that and having to constantly go to court, there's little time to spend with the family. I've heard of troopers who have had to move back in with their parents because they couldn't afford to live on their own.
They are also one of the most understaffed state agencies in the country with just under 100 troopers more than the North Carolina Highway Patrol has and NC is a state of 9 million compared to 21 million for Florida and that's not even counting the millions of snowbirds and tourist. I am using pre DOT merger manpower figures for FHP because those additional officers still primarily do commercial vehicle enforcement. You want to be a trooper so bad, there are many other states where they'll pay you better instead of being ignored for decades by present and past governors and legislatures. In neighboring Georgia, you'll start out at $36, 832 while in the academy but once you graduate, your pay is bumped up to $47,350.
This is what some other Florida agencies start out at. Imagine what they'll be making in 10 years compared to a trooper. And one day, it'll come retirement time where your pension is based on your last years for your salary so if you're still making crap, your pension will be crap and you'll be forced to have to find other employment. There's a difference between working after retirement because you want to compared to have to.

much well made video, i have to admit. not "a" fan of LE, but this was properly communicated.
lt. gonzolez was especially poignant and articulate. very attractive, professional.
even though this appears fro 2019, notice the clear, diversity-slanted agenda.
must not, can "not" have a caucasian male in this video. just can not do. if the opposite occured the screams or "racism" would be everywhere.
no comment, nor is it appropriate to comment, on what appears sexual orientation, stuff.
listen, needed job in florida. someone has to write $150+ speeding tickets for 70mph in a 55mph zone...which nearly everyone (including off duty police, troopers do).
do not know about FHP, if a county/city writes it they get a cut of the ticket back to the city's bank account...so that pads the budget and OT for the officers...
no, that was not discussed or spoken about in this video.
wish the 'best for all. though i am "not" particular fan, of all of this.
