  • In this video I will be showing you how I went about installing my pre face lift LED tail lights on my Audi S5. I was originally going to solder them, but with how long it was taking I decided to just use some electrical tape. The tail lights are still not 100% I need to move some wires around, and add resistors, but this should at least give you an idea of what needs to be done. If you have any questions feel free to drop them below. Remember to like, comment, & subscribe, thanks for watching!!

    That’s what’s up man, awesome video!
    I have a 4.2 S5; bought some sequential LED’s for an A5 and it fit perfect on my S5, no coding or harness just plug and play! Just needed to see how to get into the inner tail lights- your video is actually coherent (unlike many others, on this tail light headache rabbit hole I’ve been on) while having entertaining content. Seem like a cool dude to kick it w, love the ride brother! Keep on making vids man!

    If I would have taken all the trouble for wiring the lights myself, I would have certainly went with the facelift tail lights, they look way more modern!

    If you had halogen tails before you gotta run a wire from the outer to the inners. The same wire that powers the LEDS splice on it and send it throughout the trunk lining to the inner lights. Idk exactly the pins but you can figure it out the same way you did with the outers. Good luck.

      @@tariqsamuels8578 Anytime man! I’m in the process of creating a plug & play solution myself. I’m going from your new LED lights to the latest ones (2013+ Facelift model) so I’ll be doing exactly what you did in this video haha. A wiring solution already exists for your setup (Halogen to Pre-Facelift LED & Facelift LED) but nothing exists for Pre-Facelift to Facelift (only a $399 kit) so I’ll be making the first one and maybe sell it to the public for a lot cheaper. It’s ridiculous the amounts these companies wanna charge for 4 connectors and some wires.

      @@ZeiDSky that’s sick man hopefully that goes well, let me know how it goes and when I upgrade to the FL-LEDs down the road, I’ll buy one off of you!! But yeah they’re super proud of their adapters or something I don’t get it lol. That’s why I decided to wire it myself, definitely never gonna pay 400 bucks for an adapter like the lights were cheaper 😂. But the harness I ordered literally arrived a couple days after I filmed the video, and it had the 4 pin instead of the 5 pin even though I made sure to ask if it fit American models... but I’ll just use the wires from there to connect the outer lights to the trunk lights I guess.

    • @ZeiDSky
      @ZeiDSky Před 3 lety +1

      @@tariqsamuels8578 yeah man I looked into Kufatec and other suppliers who have decently priced ones but they’re all for EU versions. Us American-spec ones get left hanging or get charged an arm and leg for them. I feel you on that, I got my lights for way less too so there’s no way I’m paying $400 for the wires lmao. I’d rather sit there all day and match the pins, plus I have VCDS so I can code if I need to as well. But yeah man I’ll keep you posted. Make sure to join the Audi Group A5/S5/RS5 for USA Owners on FB. I’m always on there and other members are really helpful as well!

      @tariqsamuels8578 when you connected the wire to the outer tail light....which was the power wire again?

  • @adrian2270
    @adrian2270 Před 3 lety +1

    Nice Tail Lights. However I would not recommend using electrical tape to connect the wiring because moisture can easily enter the expose the connection causing it to short out and corrode. Also if you hit a bump that tail light wire could easily disconnect the power from your tail light causing an accident. The proper and safe way to connect those wires without soldiering would be to use “heat shrinkable barrel connectors” it’s a crimp connector that you apply heat to in order to form a water tight connection and a tight seal. Thank you! The electrical tape is actually temporary until I finalize the wiring, still have to get the trunk lights working, I actually do have some heat shrink. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
