I just read this book after a recent spontaneous trip to Target. I'm not sure I understand what more Ruth Ware could have done with the characters in this book? I feel the info-dump portion of the book you had mentioned was all necessary to provide background of the relationships within Snoop as well as give the reader enough information so they could create a more-complete picture of the atmosphere at any point in the book. Also, when reading the comments, I saw that people were able to predict the plot and murderer long before it was revealed? Perhaps by luck, but definitely not by the information provided in the beginning of the book. A disgruntled former employee doesn't always correlate with murder. A lot of people happen to not like their jobs for various reasons. All-in-all, I think this was laid out quite meticulously. I enjoyed it so much that I went ahead and picked up The Woman in Cabin 10. I will admit- that one I didn't like as much.
I think it would be cool for you to provide some examples of what you think Ruth Ware (or any author moving forward) could've done with the characters. I always see reviews with that being a major point-made, but with little-to-no evidence or examples to back it up.

I agree that this is a great book for someone who just wants to fall into a book for a few days. That was me. I had a lot of fun reading it, and probably would rate it higher than you did because I love a thriller set in the Alps, and I loved the skiing scenes.

If you’re aching for a good page-turner, then download Untamed. This is not your ordinary story. Untamed changes genres throughout the book; depending on which character is being read. Check it out! www.amazon.com/Untamed-Steven-Jeral-Harris-ebook/dp/B00R9V96FI/ref=nodl_

I only read 2 by RW so far. The Woman in Cabin 10 which was so so. Really enjoyed In a Dark Dark Wood much more. Want to read Ms Westway and The Lying Game before her newest one.

I haven’t yet read In a dark dark wood or the lying game. I would really like to pick them up soon because I feel like they’re perfect reads for this time of year 😊

I don't gel with Ruth Ware's books at all and I don't know WHY because it's my favorite genre and the premises always sound great but there's something about her writing that I just can't connect with! Had no idea that wasn't her real name though! The covers of her YA witch series are so cute though. Funny how she's changed genre like that!

Have you read her book The Turn of the Key? That one the one book from her that convinced me that she could definitely write a great story, but she just seems to be a hit or miss lately 🙈

I figured it out in the Prologue then had to listen until it was revealed and I was right. Sadly, it was revealed way too early. Ruth Ware seems to be hit or miss and it's sad because I really liked Death/Westaway best and Turn/Key. I also liked In a dark dark wood but I was new to thrillers then.

I do agree about the reveal, it happened so early and I was confused as to how the last chunk of the book would turn out. I would still say I’m new-ish to thrillers so I still find her work enjoyable enough. She has an entertaining writing style. I might get bored of her repetitive set ups eventually, but I think I’ll still continue to pick up her work :p

Have never read that one. It sounds really good. The term co worker's is nice and scary for Halloween 🎃. Almost as scary as community 😬 or promise ring 💍. Not as scary as abridged version 😳 😬.

I read this last month I believe and.... it definitely wasn't that great. I had read The Turn of The Key and liked it a lot... However, with One by One, it was extremely predictable, I was able to guess the killer pretty fast and then, when the actual 'reveal' happened of who was the killer.... the book still went on for quite a bit and... I didn't see the point in it. It was just a very... 'meh' book unfortunately. Had a great premise, but lacked the thrilling aspect and the mystery wasn't well executed either... Oh well, maybe her next one will be better.
    Hugs from Portugal!! ❤️❤️

Omg I know once the killer was revealed I saw there was still a decent chunk of the book left and I was wondering how things would continue. I know Ware can write a great story, but unfortunately she’s been very hit or miss 🙈

@@ThePerksOfBooks agreed. with me it's also a hit or miss.... the writing is good in all of them.... but it's almost as if her books come in yes and no sequences..... turn of the key was good, one by one wasn't.... maybe the next one will be good again.... who knows! I didn't completely dislike the book One by One.... but.... sadly was completely predictable. And that last chunk of the book I expected something.... well, unexpected to happen, but nope.... nothing.
Have you read Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney? That one.... that one really had me in for a spin, with 2 really big twists.
Same goes for I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid, though this one I think definitely needs to be experienced via audiobook, and the reason why I say that is because the ending has a real impact via audiobook that it doesn't have reading it physically.
And the recent movie adaptation, with a great cast, also does not have the same impact as the audiobook or even the physical book....
