I love how the low-value cards tend to have more of the resources you need to score big points with the high-value cards you played before; it's another thing the game does to go against playing cards is increasing order, forcing you to make really impactful -and tough!- decisions!

Love this game, great on both BGA and on the table. Such a simple gimmick that actually works and creates a unique experience. Simple and clean design, fast play, great tension.

I love Faraway, it my favorite recent light card game. The card drafting reminds me a bit of 7 Wonders. Playing cards to determine drafting order also reminds me a bit of For Sale, where you blindly bid with houses (numbered 1-30) for the best payment from buyers. In both games the number of the card you play affects what reward you get.

I can see the comparison to For Sale!

For me it evokes It's a Wonderful World even more so than 7 Wonders. Something about the tension it creates as you are desperately trying to make your tableau work n the final rounds.

I like how the theme fits the gameplay really well. You go on a journey and don't know if you can keep the promises you made along the way until the last flipped card.

I really enjoyed our play of this. I agree that the decision point of trying to place better in the auction vs getting the bonus cards is the best part of this game.

Such a great game. So much fun on BGA to play. It definitely needed two plays to get it down. I’ve played it several times since we played on BGA. The left to right play but right to left scoring really is tricky especially with requirements needed. Those bonus cards can be crucial with those first few potential scoring cards.
I had one game where it just clicked for me and got a score of 94.

@@jameystegmaier definitely my highest score by far. Got really lucky with my cards and symbols. Way higher than when we played back in May. My average after 7 plays is 57.57.

I can attest to the need to play a few games to fully understand the scoring in this game. In my first game, I didn't score on any of the 8 cards and only ended up with 9 total points, all from the smaller cards.

We have lots of card games! :) In fact, almost all of our games feature cards in a significant way (Wingspan, for example, is definitely a card-driven game). As for games that are almost entirely focused on cards, we have Red Rising, Smitten, Libertalia, and the upcoming Vantage.
