Bangkok and Manila is very similar it has chaotic side, modern and slum side its just that Bangkok is quite good in terms of transportation system, cheap accom. great night life though Manila has too but Bangkok is in another level. but, yeah whn it comes to CBDs Manila is more developed Bangkok has no single CBD that beats BGC very western environment and BGC is very safe as well as clean compared to American cities.
Agree completely with what you said, I actually think Bangkok is lacking something similar to BGC as it adds a lot of appeal and character to the city but Bangkok overall is better for cost of living, transport etc yeah

Across the river is another enclave called Bridgeway which is slowly being transformed into another BGC maybe in 5-10 years time. But if you go there now you will see this giant statue which they say is taller than the Statue of Liberty.

As a Filipino American, I find it insulting when people say it’s very American when they see beautiful places around Manila. It’s like you should expect Manila to be ugly or that everything in America is beautiful. I’ve heard a few vloggers say this and it makes them look so ignorant. I live and have traveled extensively in the US. I can tell you there is no city in the US that has what BGC has. There is no city in America that allows pets to be in malls and restaurants. BGC close down streets on weekends so kids can play. Where in the US do they do this?

This means that of the 14 million living in Metro Manila, 1.7 million of them live as squatters who had left their provinces in search of livelihood. So there is still a high incidence of poverty everywhere. In BGC for instance you just walk towards the Kalayaan (Freedom) Road to find houses stacked next to and above each other like Lego toys. So the challenge for the government as it has been for several decades is to spread the economic development towards the provincial areas so that people there will no longer resort to squatting in the big cities. The good news is that the incidence of poverty versus 1980s has now been greatly reduced from 40% to 18.1%. It’s still the slowest in Southeast Asia but an improvement nonetheless.

Westeners are just jelous and think what they have is always what is better by default. That is not Manila. I believe you are in Rockwell area in Makati -- a city on its own about the same size as Manila. Stop assuming you are in Manila just because you are walking on concrete. 21.5k for a fix that a repair store in manila can do for a fraction of the cost (maybe 10k and it will be done in 30 mins)
I was desperate tbf as I needed it the next day for a trip but yeah I probably could have got it cheaper but I was happy with their service anyway
