- The #booksellers that line the River Seine in #Paris - known as “#bouquinistes” - are an iconic part of the city’s landscape. But recent years have proved a difficult time, with the growth of online shopping, a series of strikes and protests and now Covid-19 all taking their toll on sales. Now though, the city of Paris is hoping to attract new blood to this centuries-old profession by launching an appeal for applicants to fill a number of stalls currently lying vacant.

En d'autres temps, j'aurais postulé immédiatement.
Love the bouquinistes in every country.
Wish I cud go.
ask those camping in calais....
This is just sad
That the bouquinists getting less is a long trend. Everyone has to adjust and keep moving in a always spinning world that does never freeze in time. They are all looking pretty much the same and since digital books taking over there is no point in buying a yellow, old rather smelly book even if it was telling you why the reason of life is 42. The one with comic books I liked most personally and France has a major independent comic book scene. It stood out as the only one in both rows and also attracted locals by being modern, exceptional and special visually. I am not sure anymore if it also was opened when the Seine car road was turned into a Promenade. Paris est pour les flauner, pas just les tourist!
They could alwaus sell books through online
Online? Like in the Metaverse with a digital Version of the Seine? Awesome idea, I am delighted, than we put screens alongside the real seine and have a digital real world fusion experience. That is sooooo the future....
