In the white-knuckle action movie PLANE, pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island - only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. Jolo Island in the Province of Sulu is one of the most dangerous places in the southernmost of the Philippines. This small island in the Sulu Sea is the base for Abu Sayyaf, an infamous group of rebels that are known to kidnap tourists for ransom, often targeting American citizens.
It was mentioned in the trailer that the Filipino army don't wanna go there anymore. But in reality, Jolo is a heavily militarized island. There are about 5,000 Philippine troops there, most of them concentrated near the town center.
Anyways, Gerard Butler is one badass actor! 🔥 Can't wait for this!

@@leclercc I think it was mostly for financial reasons...much easier for the crew to get to Puerto Rico than to the Philippines. It's very possible to film safely in most parts of the Philippines (e.g. the Bourne film series, Survivor, etc)

Great straight forward movie. I love it. I feel safe during the entire movie knowing that Gerard Butler is there. I love that the plot is quite simple. No conspiracy what so ever. No traitor. Its just simply the good guys vs the bad guys.

This Film is a big issue to the Philippines in terms of its storyline I'm a Filipino but I understand that it's only a movie a great and wonderful Film ❤️
It has a bad representation of the Philippines showing Jolo is no longer protected or governed by the Ph government and has no military or police force where in fact it has. It spreads misinformation and misconceptions about the Jolo. They cant even pronounce Jolo in the correct way and if they want to film about Jolo which is in the Philippines at least cast or represent the terrorist people as Filipinos. It is a great film produced by lionsgate and the main lead is Gerard Butler and it will be a great hit in the cinemas as expected but how about the reputation of Philippines and all the misinformation? Think of the social and cultural impact of it. Thank you

My goodness this movie is a perfect package of action, suspense and pace! We thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. One of those films that keeps you on the edge until the last minute and makes you whistle and cheer for the survivors when credit rolls! Gerald Butler killed it once again. He is so apt for such badass roles.

Just rented and watched it last night on Amazon Prime video and it's 100% badass! Gerard Butler never disappoints. He's such an amazing actor. And Mike Colter was perfect as the accused murderer turned good bad guy. The actors who played Dele the Co-pilot and Bonnie, the Chief flight attendant were great as well. And can't forget Tony Goldwyn. I almost didn't recognize him. Edge-of-your-seat suspense and action! I swear my anxiety went into overdrive watching this lol. Great cast and what an emotional rollercoaster. My rental is good for 48 hours so I'm definitely gonna watch it again. A must-watch if you love action and suspense! 👍👍👍

This movie is very entertaining from the beginning to the end. It reminds me a lot of all the old action movies that was great back in the days, hopefully the new Top Gun movie showed Hollywood that the audience loves these simple entertaining flicks.

Watched the film today, and as a Filipino and a tagalog speaker, i was giggling at the hostage takers coz of their slang tagalog accent. Apparently they hired filipino american actors for the movie. But nonetheless, the movie is great and I enjoyed it! Such a shame, our senators here in PH wanted to ban this movie on PH theaters. It’s a fictional movie. Truth be told, They just can’t accept the fact that hostage taking actually happens on those areas of the PH. Just those areas though. Never been there, no plans of going there. But hey, Philippines is such a beautiful country. Nature and people are our treasure. And just like any other countries, has its own flaws and imperfections we can’t hide.
I ain't sure if you're really a Filipino based on your profile name. But as a legit filipino this movie is not good for my country even if it's "fictional". My country is already in the 3rd world category, what more can they possibly bring my country lower. My country is trying it's best to promote tourism and then they'll gonna come up with this film? Nope. Just the actor who played Datu Junmar is part Filipino in real life has an accent when he speaks Tagalog. As a native Tagalog speaker, I can tell it is not his mother tongue. Quite a few of his Tagalog lines are not clear.
However, Hajan does not have an accent as well as the other minor characters who speak Tagalog.
It's incredulous how Filipino hypocritical politicians would ban a fictitious movie when they themselves can't cleanse themselves of corruption.

I saw this during the week and what a pleasant surprise. This is a great little movie, well acted, well written and well executed. You wont find a more perfectly formed action film than this. Go see it in the theater because we need more movies like this.

Just watched this on Amazon Prime. What a great movie. Gerard Butler's pilot was such a clutch guy. Incredible pilot, saved the passengers, and took out the kidnappers. He was fully in his Lebron 2012 v Celtics / Kobe 70 point game mode.

As a Filipino who really lives in the Philippines at Jolo,Sulu. its not easy for me to watch it because the gunshoot, bombing, cutting head, kidnapping etc we all did heard that happend in our placed or worse experienced it. really terrifying to live in a place where you feel not secured or safe. the tension between Filipino military and Abu sayaf way back then. 🥺 hoping one day we could have a better place to live peacefully.
Most of my friends came from this beautiful island, I grew up in diversed city of Mindanao; I'm a christian living side by side along with the Filipino Natives and different tribes of Muslims. Just leave Jolo Sulu (Lupah Sug) alone.

Randomly picked this movie from " movies on demand " , Butler and Colter nailed thier roles perfectly. The movie was very well done , good action and gun battles. It was fast paced and never had a dull moment , the reviews had 94% with the popcorn icon. Good production , good filming , the acting and script was very well done. From the Actors that only had a few lines , to the main characters , I was impressed.

Wow! It is such a honor and a privilege to see Gerald Butler as a tough guy after the plane crashes and Mike Colter play a great firefighter in Breakthrough and he was a great superhero in Luke Cage. I am looking forward to watching Lost now that they are taking it back to 2004 with Naveen Andrews, Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Daniel Dae Kim, and many more.

Just watched and overall, very good. A no BS storyline, sadly a very possible scenario. Dude from GHOST, remarkable ! Criminal character, literally a force to be reckoned with. A perfect match for Butler, who is always spot-on.

Just saw this tonight. Was a perfect action film. Butler is the perfect Everyman hero we all need.
Outstanding movie, kept me holding my breath. I have already seen it twice, may see it again. Highly recommend, if you like action movies, you got to see this one.
I love the part where Louis Gaspare uses a sledge hammer as a stealth weapon to kill the terrorists and free the passengers. Feels like Triple H vibes in WWE.

I pretty much watch anything Gerard Butler is in, always awesome and a great action hero. Should have called this Plane Has Fallen, another sequel to the other two "--Has Fallen" movies that Butler did. (London , Angel Has Fallen)
The title makes it seem like a placeholder title that the screenwriter put on the title page when he first started and thought: “Eh, I’ll think of a better one later.”

Precisely. I am a writer and will use a "working title" until I decide on what the book will actually be called. Better than just naming it "Book 8" while I'm working on it. This is really a poorly named movie. I can think of 5 better off the top of my head. But then again....Bill Shakespeare said "What's in a name?"
Really enjoyed The Last Face. Very real in a Hollywood Drama sort of way. I hope you do more films like this but add a touch of realism to the screenplay.
When you see “Lionsgate” at the beginning you know more than likely the movie is going to be good
Really enjoyable movie. You definitely feel like you are right there with them throughout.. Very good cinematography. GB obviously does a tremendous job as usual. Rest of cast does an excellent job as well. Highly recommend!!!
It's definitely a good movie. Most movies with this storyline would be a typical B list movie, but the acting and production was great here.
