What started out as an attempt at the World's Longest Non-Stop Lake Swim, quickly (and unintentionally) turned into the World's HOTTEST Non-Stop Lake Swim as the Italian Meteorological Society named the 48°C (118.4°F) heatwave that hit Lake Trasimeno after the mythical monster Cerberus (the dog that guards the gates of Hell). It was basically like swimming in a big bowl of soup as scientists claim this month was the hottest ever recorded! In short, NOT ideal conditions. But despite all of this, it was an INCREDIBLE experience that I was lucky enough to share with an EPIC team who displayed PURE heroics throughout the entire swim. Cannot wait for the next swim (yes, training has already begun) ;-)

Went for my morning swim today, and something clicked but I want to swim the English Channel and Ross's swims are definitley a source of inspiration for me.
I miss having more updates but the waits are always worth it Ross you exceed all expectations and just power on absolute legend never stop what you're doing whether you complete you're challenges or not you still inspire people like myself who could only wish to have the same work ethic and resilience you have you truly are unique 💪

"I have to do a lot of strange stuff to feel normal" that one hit me. You inspire and motivate me every day. Every time I think, I can't get out of bed, I can't put in another hour, I can't do another set, I think; there is a guy who swam around gb with a smile on his face, so I can do this. Seeing you deal with things not going as planned but keep trying, is so hopeful. The heat and other extreme weather from climate change has devastating consequences. I really hope stories like this show people that things really need to change and quickly.

I don't know why, but those long distance swim record attempts are the most inspiring thing for me. Sometimes the failed attempts are even more inspiring than the actual record. By the way if you want more of the same, I can also recommend the documentary "The other Shore (2013)" where 64 year old Diana Nyad swam 103 miles from Cuba to Florida.

You can definitely tell Ross has not had kids yet, he has so much energy and he is so happy all the time!

Although I will never try to swim in open water for over 24 hours (or anywhere near that), you have shown me what is truly capable and because of the likes of you, goggins and other mentally strong minded people, i have pushed myself past limitiations i never knew was possible (and lost 30lbs in the process).
