You are absolutely correct. I'm French Canadian and I think it is sad that in Quebec a lot of people don't speak English when it is the national language in Canada. And if I make a Pros/Cons about Quebec, I would mention that. It is okay for barbers or taxi drivers in Jordan not to speak English. But, a customs officer, security at the airport or someone at the tourist? NO, and they should never have been hired.

As a Jordanian, I know for a fact that not everything you said in your video is correct. Yes, Jordan is not a paradise but compared to a lot of other countries, I'm still lucky to be in Jordan. I agree that there are things in Jordan that need to be improved just like any other country even Canada. About many Jordanians do not speak English, and this is not even close to the truth. Excuse our manner of speaking, our mother tongue is Arabic which we are very proud of. In fact, we have the advantage over you as we speak your language and you didn't speak ours. English is not a measure of intelligence - it is a language.

I have never said that Jordanians are not smart. As a Canadian that speak French. I have no problem traveling anywhere. But, if an English speaker tells me that in Quebec City, he can't get around in English and people make no effort to speak with him in English, I will have to agree. Even though I don't like it. Jordan has a lot of good points and I have mentioned them. BUT, everytime I have dealt with the government, the police, the military and customs it has been frustrating experiences. That's my reality and that of others I know.

Im a Jordanian who moved to USA 8 years ago, I would say education in Jordan is very great compared to USA because when I started my high school in US they have to put me in AP classes because all regular courses were too easy for me and for my siblings. as for people not speaking English I believe minority dont speak English since you cant graduate school if you fail English I would say this because I wasnt the best student in english class back when i was in Jordan but when I came to US I didnt have any issues at all and was able to communicate easily. I could see how hard it could be dealing with government workers its frustrating and sad to say but if you dont know an inside person who can make few calls then you expect to wait for long time or get scammed, also sometimes giving worker tips might help but its completely wrong.
Jordan is a very nice country not just because its where im from, i visited multiple countries cant find the hospitality or the love and respect between people anywhere else. I just wish if the government would take care of the people instead of scamming them.

you said some good points and some points I think are over-exaggerated. For the language thing, I have lived in Germany for 2 years, the signs, the speaking, anything you will read, the language classes, the newspapers etc... everything was in German not a single English word in sight except cool or great or some generic stuff in ads, even most the people I talked to didn't speak English. I am not saying people in Jordan are experts in English, but I think it is pretty ok for a third world country when you have European countries around that are way worse at English. At least the street signs in Jordan have the English Equivalent of the word (again non In Germany, everything is literally in German, even the people at the foreigners office didn't talk English lol). Regarding the price of things, for you it is cheap, but for our amazing wages we can barely stay alive (and I work in finance and accounting in a very big known firm). Regarding the car mechanics in Jordan, yeah they are pretty much a plague on humanity.

You will be surprised that they will try to speak English even those who are not highly educated. Few of them can speak English fluently even without finishing their highschool education. The pride of Jordanians are their medical graduates and that's the reason you find the health care in par with the free world countries. Maybe doctors in Jordan speak more fluent English than you do.

I feel bad that you had a tough time with the government here. But, isn't dealing with the government tough everywhere? Maybe not understanding the language well made it even harder.

Sorry to say, but you got tricked on monthly car wash price, its 10jds per month too 😃 Excellent point on water that needs to be discussed over and over again! Most people in Jordan do speak english! Even small little convenience store sales man spoke english to me, customs, central intelligence and other governmental places speak little to conversational english, however they can choose not to , to make your life harder , just because they didn't like your attitude. Happened to me ones, but since i also spoke Arabic back to them confronting them them , they switched to English at passport control at the airport. But in general , comparing to allot of countries Jordanians do speak English !
Regarding education - there are exceptional national academics who had ONLY governmental school education, the problem not with the system, it's with the kids wanting to learn, those who want to study can easily excel. Just saying that "teachers are local" doesnt justify your point about the educational system in private schools. Regarding your drone, it's known for obvious reasons, that drones arent allowed . And while you were told that the location or your drone is unknown, they actually know exactly where your drone is 🙂 and probably started to use it for their purposes . Thank you for this video, the truth is , if you didnt have to deal with the government, and had some real Jordanian friends they would have showed you the beauty and hospitality of Jordan! As a Ukrainian living here for 12 years, i have experienced all kind of mistreatment due to my origin, as well as having a solid group of wonderful Jordanian friends have dimmed all negative parts that i have experienced. And im studying physiotherapy at University of Jordan, where to your surprise - ALL professors are PhD and Local 🙂 The Degree is tough, diverse , up to date and comprehensive, as well as internationally recognised. I had a few choices for where to study Physio, and chose this Uni due to it's high quality and excellent english , medical degree is purely in English in Jordan.

Now I can care less about your experiences. After living in the US and a couple of other European countries there are many similarities to 3rd world countries especially public schools. So if you don’t like Jordan just don’t go. We will be ok without your dumb video.

Away from the content . Man, you have to work on your videos. You speak very slowly, I had to speed up the video in order to feel you are speaking in a normal speed. Also, the coherence and arrangement in your speech is almost non-existens. It seems that you were angry from Jordan and its people and everything in it, and decided to open the camera and speak whatever comes to your mind at that moment,You were literally jumping from a point to another in no order. In addition the video is unnecessarily long, as you repeat the point more than once.
To add more when people decide to film this type of videos, they attach it with pictures, videos, and stories from their own experiences, not from the Internet, and stories from other people, as you did with Kareem’s story.
You mentioned that you visited a number of countries, and based on that, I assume that you should know that when you decide to visit/ live in any country, you must review its laws ! As Jordan is one of the countries that does not allow the use of drones unless there is a security clearance! So it's not about you as an individual!
If you lived even for a short period in Jordan, you would know that living in it is possible for everyone, as all options are available there, so it remains your decision and budget that you want to live with.
House and car rents are not expensive for expatriates, in addition there are many tourist and archaeological sites there, and there are always events in Amman such as concerts by local artists or art exhibitions in partnership with language institutes and universities.
And are you talking about the educational level in schools? while you judge the cultural level of individuals by the extent of their skill in speaking English? Oh man you lost me there!
In addition, the largest number of people there speak English well not perfect but not as bad as you mentioned, especially in tourist places.
Looks like you were in a Jordan other than the one I know.
Finally you should know that the world and countries are different from your country and the difference is what makes a place special.

      @MarioStingerPerpetualTraveller  Před rokem

Thanks for spending the time to write all that, it is truly appreciated for the rate of speech. I had complaints from people that I was speaking too fast. So, I "fixed" that. I guess maybe I shouldn't have. I always listen to videos at 1.75 or 2x.
Concepts are nice, but if you have a kid, it doesn't help you. It is not like there are parks, pools, zoos or other activities for them. Also, I was in Jordan for the entire COVID pandemic. That might have been a problem.
I have to disagree with you on one point. The English and the services or lack thereof with the government. I visited Jordan in 2015; did the tourist stuff and got out. If I had made a video about that, it would be great and positive.
However, moving to Jordan with your car and household goods, getting the internet, ID and passing customs all the time, is a completely different beast. That's like going to a resort with airport pickup and return and having to get out on your own and manage everything.
I'm Canadian, in 2021, Canada was cheap, now, it is crazy expensive... Time changes, and experiences differ.
