Jules is trying on bridesmaids dresses with Kimmy, who's incredibly nice to her. Later, she calls George to tell him about Kimmy when Michael enters the room, while she is in underwear. She covers herself with a jacket but he tells her that he has seen her often in underwear. She tells him that the situation is different now. He leaves after telling her that she is beautiful like that. Once alone in the room, she seems pleased.

What’s the movie My Best Friend’s Wedding about?
Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts from Erin Brockovich and Pretty Woman) is a successful and independent food critic. Over dinner with her closest friend George (Rupert Everett from Another Country), she reminisces about her past relationship with Michael O’Neal (Dermot Mulroney from Young Guns and About Schmidt), a freelance sports writer. They made a half-serious promise to each other that if neither found a mate before they turned 28, they would marry each other. Soon afterward, Jules receives a call from Michael, who tells her he has met that special someone: Kim Wallace (Cameron Diaz from The Mask and There's Something About Mary), the daughter of a billionaire baseball team owner. He asks his best friend to visit him in Chicago. Jules becomes desperate to win Michael for herself. She travels to Chicago, meets Kim, and realizes that this girl really is perfect. Nevertheless, she embarks on a campaign to turn Michael and Kim against each other. George joins her, and attempts to help her face the truth. As the wedding date approaches, her attempts fail. However, just before the wedding, Michael gets a message that throws his relationship with Kim seriously into doubt...and gives Jules her chance to share her true feelings with Michael.

Michael is so weird in this scene. He's an engaged man walking in on another woman in her underwear, and just stands there as she fumbles for something to cover up with, clearly aware that there's a weird vibe to the situation, and . . . references their naked past together? Compliments her body? Sir, you have a fiancé. Even if Jules isn't exactly screeching for him to get out of the room, he has no business being so calm here. Poor Kimmy.
fr Kim deserves better
Ikr, I 'm not saying I agree with everything that Julianne did but I don't why Kim and Jules are both so smitten with Michael and why he's presented as a good guy when he expresses interest in Jules while being engaged to Kim and almost kisses her and seems ok with Kim not finishing her degree (even though she might want to finish it) and giving up her own dreams to follow him with his job and tried to make Kim feel bad when she mentioned it to him.

@Cupcake Queen I don’t think so. Jules was outmaneuvered by the seemingly innocent Kimmy. This plot is fundamentally similar to the one in The Age of Innocence, in which the highly desirable Countess Olenska is outmaneuvered by Archer’s “naive” fiancée, May.

I love the take that movie has on the „not like other girls“ trope
To me, this movie demonstrates the screen's power over the audiences. A scenarist decides who the audience will see as the villan or hero of a story. No matter the story. We come to sympathise with the woman who steals another's groom. With the same story, we could have had a movie where we symathize with the deserted bride..or we could have been made to sympathize with both women and demonize the man in the triangle Etc

Probably extensions. It's easy to see that in some scenes her hair texture doesn't match the earlier scenes.

Cameron Diaz is way too nice. Of course I'd be cool with them staying friends but having her be a bridesmaid is a bit much. I get that she's jealous but there's no need to be so mean... you can tell she's really trying to get along.
She's the groom's best friend, though. I get it. The fact that she wanted to be more than friends now...I mean, she's had years for that and they stuck with each other through many relationships with other people. If I was Kimmie, I'd really think they just didn't want that. And turns out she was right - he, at least, didn't.

Am I the only one who thinks they purposely decided to use a color that isn’t flattering on Julia Roberts? I mean lavender is the wedding color but just the idea that she looks out of place.
Such a stupid concept for a film and sending girls bad messages about how to conduct themselves in adult relationships with a man who is NOT available...yuck.
