Russia marks 75th Victory Day anniversary with spectacular Red Square military parade

- President Vladimir Putin joined a spectacular Red Square military parade on Wednesday to mark the 75th anniversary of the Soviet Union's World War II victory over the Nazis. The event was initially postponed from May 9 because of the novel coronavirus outbreak, despite critics say it is irresponsible to go ahead with it now.
Putin delivered a speech at the celebration, on the eve of a nationwide vote that could extend his rule until 2036, patriotic display critics say is designed to lift his lower than usual ratings.
Putin, flanked by veterans, did not wear a mask, but people around him had been tested for the coronavirus, including veterans quarantined at a resort outside Moscow beforehand.
Thousands of people thronged Moscow's streets to watch tanks roll through the city on what was a public holiday.

@@doro5013 yes we have similar climates and that's why we're bot impossible to invade in the mountains and harsh cold climate unless we both invade each other but if your going to visit the province of Ontario or Quebec go to these cities
1)Ottawa because it's the capital city of Canada and it has a amazing parliament building and a good place to see some new things like the museums there
2)Toronto because I'm from and live, there and it's the capital city of the provenance Ontario and try the malls or go to downtown where all the interesting places are like the CN Tower and union station roundhouse park and museam
3)Quebec city because if you go there there's a lot of French speaking Canadians and lots of lovely places to go
4)Niagara falls because it's a place where there's lots of fun and games like casinos and a big dinosaur themed golf course next to the famous sky wheel and go to the falls where there is a beautiful view and then try the rotating diner or buffet in the skylon tower and many more!

...there was a joke, that if russians were shouting "hoooorahhh" while charging, it meant they would attack only with infantry. Adding "blyaaat!" meant the artillery shelling was to be expected as well. "Nahooy!" marked additional tanks breaking through :))

Well if you think of the war as a ratio of how much each ally did, and than have the parades be organised relative to the war effort of each country, this makes sense, since you know, 80% of German forces were concentrated on the east front, and 9/10 Wehrmacht soldiers died fighting the soviets... While Britain mostly just dealt with the German navy and a bit of the air force (that's also why England has big navy events)

I was there and let me tell you... spectacular doesn't even begin to describe it. The atmosphere, the feeling of ground trembling as tanks, rocket launchers and all kinds of tranports roll by is amazing. People are cheering and you can only cheer with them, even if you are not russian. That moment, those soldiers would protect you just as well as anyone else and you just feel it in the air.
Also it was pretty much the only chance I will probably ever have to see SU-57s and those stratospheric bombers with my own eyes. It was also really nice to see iconic T-34s in prestine condition. I have seen them at memorial near where I live, climbed on them numerous times too, but they've been standing there since the war ended, occasionally painted and treated, but you get the idea.
All in all... I think more soldiers and wartech passed me by that day than my country has in total. XD

After 2 February 1943 (the victory of Stalingrad battle) the world knew USSR victory was inevitable. Britain first and USA after joined an alliance but USSR fought against Germany and European coalition alone until 1943. When USSR victory was inevitable British/American coalition somehow began to help. You probably don' know that Britain/France was behind Hitler in 1939 and prepared him for the war with USSR. British/American/European financial elite sponsored Germany. The purpose of the war was to wipe Russia off the face of the earth as country and nation and mastered of Russian land, resources, fresh water, little part of Russian human resources (intelligent and for slavery and the rest must be destroyed), technology, progressive industry. 20 mln civilians (children, women, eldest) were destroyed by Germany and European coalition. Russia released part of archival documents recently. Russia fought for her existence, for Mother land, for life.

@Elena - you forgot some historical facts. Soviet Red Army attacked Poland on September 17, 1939 fighting as an alliance with Nazi Germany against Poland. Your country started the WW II together with Nazi Germany. Great Britain and France declared war to Germany on September 3rd, 1939. Then in fall 1939 Soviet Union attacked Finland and Baltic States. All that time Soviet Union was a very close ally to Nazi Germany. To the very last day before Nazi Germany invaded Soviet Rusia Stalin was a very loyal friend to Hitler and his politics. This close cooperation between the two regimes Nazi and communist was founded in Ribbentrop- Molotov pact signed in August 1939. Do not false history, the whole civilized world knows the true but obviously Russian people don't.

Oh Poland again was the victim?
