What's amazing is that he has no intention of going public. He kept quiet, but fortunately for us, his wife made sure to tell the tale so that he was properly honored for this heroic act. May God bless his soul.

If you watch the movie, you learn that after it went public, many of the children, now adults and even grand parents reached out and filled final few years of his life, with love. The reason I suspect he went on to live to be over 100 in the end. A priceless reward that no money could have brought. He was a good man, with a good family, a real hero as many have said here.

Nicholas Winton is my role model because he was always extremely rational about what he did. He was a pragmatist, always brought it down to earth by saying he didn't perform a miracle, just worked hard and sought solutions, and refused to give up. How much good could be accomplished if we adopted this intelligent man's philosophy and ethics? We now live in an age where people are afraid of being stigmatized for telling the truth, or going against popular but mistaken opinions, not much different than in Nazi Germany.

It's usually it's because the truth people believe is really really stupid because they just will do anything to confirm their own bias from anything on the web. People want to be correct. They don't want to know the truth

This man is an angel on earth. There is no question about that. His heart was so full of compassion he felt it was what he was meant to do. Maybe it was his way of coping with the war and living in a time of such evil and hatred. I'm sure there were so many people who wanted to do something but didn't. People said he was the Oskar Schindler of England. I don't think they should ever be compared. They were both heros in completely different ways with completely different situations. May they R.I.P in the heavens of paradise forever.

I posted this on other threads.
A question like this has always been asked. If you could go back in time and have a meal or just a drink with anyone of your choosing, who would it be and why? I think we could all fantasise such an encounter with legends from our past time. For me it is Sir Nicholas Winton. The most modest man I have ever come across and would be unbelievably humbled to sit and listen to his story. Having recently watched through the horrors of Nazi deathcamps on Netflix this man is without a doubt the most amazing person I have ever encountered. RIP Sir Nicholas. You sir, were a gentlemen. Peace x.

I have to take exception to that lady’s critique of Schindler. Yes, he was a deeply flawed human being. He was employing Jews in a forced labor camp and doing it for profit. Paradoxically, that put him in a position where he was able to do the most good. He spent all his money and risked his life to save 1200 Jews. That’s more than “saving some Jews” as that lady put it. Wonton was clearly a far better person but Schindler took far larger risks. As Winton himself stated numerous times, he didn’t have to risk his life. Downplaying Schindler’s contribution does a favor to no one and I doubt the humble Winton would want anyone to do that if making a comparison. Once he decided on his path, Schindler literally sacrificed everything he had.

I'm glad that there's now a biopic with Anthony Hopkins taking the lead. Also kinda glad it's after Sir Winton 's passing? In the sense that he was private with his live and didn't ask for the spotlight. Yes, he was very much the type of man who preferred doing good for the sake of being moral and not asking for any spotlight. I don't think he would have been completely comfortable with that type of acknowledgement.
