- This film reviews the basic maintenance check of the Scott Air Pack. It also includes our firefighter attempting to beat the one minute donning challenge (8:23). Bloopers are always included :) Please keep comments constructive and respectful.
Wow, Scott has come a long way. When I used 'em, we only had the voice amps and Vibe alert for air. Now with motion alarms, quick bottle changes, tank status lights. Nice.
I think the pass alarm is so chilling. It makes my neck hair stand
An aspiring FF. I am so pumped up after watching this Video. I hope to be at your level someday.
Great video. I was just learning how to do this on Monday and wanted to drill it into my brain step by step over and and over now I can watch this video as a refresher.
Pet peeve... full is full.. I don't CARE if OSHA says 90% is good. Fill it up!
4500 psi and lets say you can get 20 minutes out of it that is 225 psi/minute. Instead of 4000 psi I'll take 4500 and the extra 2 minutes!
Every second counts
Every breath counts
The next guy hookin' up to that pack might not know that you left it at 90%, and you just gave him less time to search and rescue.
Couldn't agree with this comment more. Fill them up. If you use them, refill them.
Our department just updated and switched our packs to the one used in this video. Heads up display is a neat feature, always a fan of Scott. Nice job on the video
HUD is good but it can fail, good practice to look at your pressure gauge every now and then
Very, very helpful - thanks! I have my Firefighter 1 testing next month and these were great reminders. Have more?
Thank y’all is was really good and I’m a junior firefighter so it helps me a lot to be able to understand the pack to help the ones who can go in the burning building
Wow under a minute donning, & she didn't even look like she was rushing! She looked so relaxed. Excellent job👊
Lol, watching this video, and as soon as it finishes I get a call. Love your videos
Your awesome. Loved your presentation.
@Whammer79 This is an excellent method for donning your pack. It puts all the straps in the right place the first time. It's obviously not for confined spaces, but much quicker when donning in this situation.
today, i had training (im an explorer) with our interspiro packs. they are friggan great. not as bulky with the twist on regulator, just a quick connect. no voice amplifier either, not needed. it is kind of lucky we did it too, my pack had an air leak at the swivel connection where the gauge connects..
I love Scott air packs
Best scba video ..easy and simple 👏🏼
Good job!!! It's always the tiny ff that can rapid dress n under a min!!! Us big guys take a little longer my best n probie school was 1:25
@Trukie79 What is the thought process behind having a helmet on? We were never taught to keep the helmet on.
Nice! Thanks for the vid! Helped me learn some new things! :)
Same as me, we have compartment mounted SCBA, it's already high enough up that you wouldn't worry about hitting your head, im actually too tall to stand under the door and put it on, I have to walk away from the Truck first
thanks 4 all u guys do what would we do with out u
Great Video , PPE always a good way to go!! Evacuate, Alarm, Assess, Protect, Rescue, First Aid, Medical Aid.!!And He Might Survive.
LUNAR
Nice video. Thanks
Nothing like those exhaust fans
have u ever put an scba on with a helmet on if so please explain i have never seen it
Excellent video, however I noticed the o-ring wasn't checked for wear or abrasions... unless i missed it :)
@BlueJFilms I've been a fire fighter for 16 years and have never been taught, taught or even seen anyone do the over the head method with the helmet on. Don't see how that would work out very well anyway.
Anybody remember the old Scott IIa or the 4.5?
I've always wanted to know what part of the air pack makes that chattering noise when the pressure gets low and how said component works.
the low pressure regulator that clips in the facepiece. .
Finally I see somebody check the seal on the mask during the drill
What was that buzzing tone in the bloopers? Engine? Garage door?
The air pack you use has the same lights as the msa fire hawk
6:45 The low on air sound, is it just called the low on air sound or does it have a specific name?
I would love to have these on my department all we have are the old steel tanks
does air packs weader under water
good job, By the way what you call bottle here in Brazil we call "air cylinder" !!!
is this Hague,NY by any chance
what is the weight of the whole system? my dept uses 30 minute bottles and weighs 35 pounds aprox.
Go Scott air packs
How do i change the batteries on the Scott nxg2 scba
So I just bought a whole bunch of these. Is there supposed to be little holes in the bottom of these tanks?
@Trukie79 with the helmet on?? what academy taught you that
So if you click the air saver switch itll stop tje air flow? If you unclick the switch itll just let the air bleed freely? If that so you can unclick it and let "direct air " flow ? I am a.bit confused about the air saver switch
What was the clicking when she opened the valve?
scott packs r the shit we use msa's id like to try a scott some time though
Seems like you should also make sure that the vibralert is activated at aprox. 25%.
could be 25% or 33% depends which model of scott her department has. like my departments vibra-alert goes on at 33%
BUENISIMO
She did a good job but where I am from they are cylinders and face pieces.
Minor stuff. So what?
when the PASS alarm went off i was in a ps4 party and mt friend went nuts saying things like it gives him PTSD because his friend went down in a fire a couple days ago
Seek counseling.
we have a 4.5 pack
I have a question
@OUgrizzlywrstlr09 I guess I didn't see anything wrong with this. I would love to have the new pack with the snap in air bottle.
Thank you, madam, use full vedio
I really like the blooper part… at 10:00
Judging by the wheels on the rig behind her I'd say it is a Mack.
nice. near the finish we do our gloves then the Respirator just to make it harder. No, I don't know why they make us do it that way.
because you'd be wasting air. and also when you come out of the building, you take your regulator off your facepiece first then helmet then facepiece. going in should be the opposite. put on your facepiece facepiece make sure you got a tight seal, helmet, gloves, regulator. muscle memory..
@OUgrizzlywrstlr09 Would you like to provide an explanation on what she is doing wrong?
this air bottle looks like a 45min. or 60min. instead of a 30min. bottle.
@BlueJFilms so it dosnt hit you in the head ..but it gets in the way if you ask me
Trukie79 is a Troll !!!! Hahaha. Overhead donning pack with helmet ????? That was briliant......:)
I can see coat method after doing low profile going underneath things with helmet on but over the head, thats crazy
Awesome job, however bottles usually hold milk and beer.!
And that's why ffs are fat. 😁
She made that look pretty easy
we have this but not scott make. enjoyed the training though.
Im also an Explorer and we use MSA packs
Just looks like....:) Don't test the limits, stay safe.
All these noises! lol
what is she doing wrong mr youtube firefighter
@OUgrizzlywrstlr09 This was a very mean comment to someone who volunteers her service to help others. No matter what gender, race, or age, the people who risk their lives are due respect.
we have survavair bottles we have air masks paks too bluejfilms
The self contain breathing aperatise should not be put on over head with out a helmet you should use the backpack style if you do not have a helmet on but that was a pretty good video and also don't rely on all the lights because a lot if different stations don't have then like that
Decent video and thank you but a few things I think might help out: you should check the purge before you take the air in...so you don't get any unwanted dirt sucked in, you want to do a 1/4 turn back from the valve being opened all the way and you should donn everything with your gloves on for good practice. Just key things I've learned over the years.
57.17
yard breather. regulator is the last thing to connect. helmet and gloves before you connect the regulator into your facepiece
My great grandfather was apart of the days where they went in no mask, no air, no filter. Just ate smoke
God bless your grandfather dude, real hero goin in there to save lives chokin on smoke.
That's why I'm glad we have air packs nowadays. Much safer, and better.
He was a smoke eater just like my father, my dad was the first person to use a scott pack on the city fire dept.he worked for.
I saw skin on the back of your neck, it happens though. Just don't let it happen for the real mc-coy.
missed a step
checking the o ring
With all due respect to a 30 year person you of all people should know that there are many different ways to do things. And in the past 10 years that I know of it's never hit the helmet unless someone made a mistake. But for what it's worth we just upgraded to MSA's and found it to be more practical to sling it like a backpack.
skipping over alot she should pull that cylinder out inspect verify the hydro stat test checkk the harnes frame asselmbly low high pressure hoses examine the mask closely make sure all valve work make sure she has positve pressure in the mask
pretty lady
That's a dreadful way to don a BA set - risky and slow. 30 seconds dressing time is our training target. Crude demand valve, on that model, too.
I was taught to only have the helmet on if you're going to throw the pack over your head. The thought process is not knocking yourself out when you try to throw it over your head. Otherwise there's no need for the helmet.
Okay well all im saying is....... IF you fuck up on checkin you're air, u best hope u got the best R.I.T. team in the state to come save ur srry ass!!!!! Btw, STAY SAFE!!!!!!!!!
Bottles are for babies, tanks are for the battlefield...
you are awesome and know your stuff can I take you on a date?
lmao nice try
didn't see anything wrong with this explanation...
We have MSA fire hawks. MSA is better sorry to tell you
she did nothing wrong and nobody teaches the helmet on before you throw the air pack over your head method
You're serious right? 8 times out of 10 the pack is gonna hit the brim and knock the helmet off. Your thinking on that is a little bazaar. Thirty years, never once left my helmet on and never knocked myself out,AND never had to do 15 pushups for it.
Leave her alone, she is doing fine. It is always easy to play armchair quarterback on the internet
shes inspecting all wrong
Good job, minus you calling the face piece a mask.
