Great video. Still had a question - just had a new water heater installed (no issues but way past its life span - wanted to replace before it started leaking.) All faucets in the house were fine. Now that the water heater has been replaced, only the master shower isn't producing the same temps. Using the clock analogy, the handle turns on at 6 (cold) and goes up to 3 (hot). It was fine that way. After the replacement, you now have to turn it almost all the way to 3 to get even a semi-hot temp, but then the handle reaches the limit and you can't turn it any further to get it hotter. It seems like I will need to adjust the handle per your video above? But wondering what caused this problem at the shower handle when just the water heater was replaced? thx for any insight. (I personally like it hotter and did change it to 130 from the 120 install temp, but that didn't solve the problem in the shower.)

Not sure what's caused that. But I would definitely check for limiters hiding under the handle. Once the handle is unlimited, it makes for easier troubleshooting of a possible bad cartridge.

Great explanation! Can the white cam piece not rotate left past the 12' o clock? My water is at the 12 and not hot enough right now. It is Jan and my shower feels luke warm.

On a Moen valve, you don't want it past the 12 position. You might have a different valve if your handle is all the way hot at the 12 position.

My handle goes to the 9'oclock and is still not hot enough in the winter. It was installed in July and never had an issue until now. I have the same model as in the video. I just tried to rotate the white scald guard where it went further than lining up at the 12'oclock position, which I learned it can't do. I guess I will just not have "HOT" showers until it the weather gets warm again. Thanks. @@SmedleyPlumbing

@@shannonr8482 does your kitchen sink get hot enough?

Yes as well as the old school plastic dial knob in the hall bath. My water heater is also brand new, replaced within the last month after it leaked. @@SmedleyPlumbing
