I was born here; spent many a day walking down Lord Street with my Grandma.......nice memories! Now live in Canada......
As a former resident of Southport I enjoyed this - I am going to contradict the comments on here - when I moved in the seafront was really rundown and bleak, Now it is modern, clean and there are plenty shops and facilities there. It takes time to turn these resorts around - Southport will get there !
I've lived in Southport since I was a kid and it's not the town it was nowadays its so sad to see so many shops and buisness go it really is . I use to love going here but not bothered for a long time now coz it upsets me how run down its gone .
I lived there for 30 years and all my children were born there. They have all long since moved away, and I also moved away in 2015. A lot of the shops have changed or closed down. Wild horses could not drag me back there now.
A traditional Victorian resort that has lost a lot of its appeal over the years due to the decline in Lord Street and its upmarket shops...however..with investment there appears to be an improvement in its fortunes...always an attractive place to visit..without the coarser elements of say Blackpool or Morecambe..

The Victorian's had a great eye for detail, and cared about peoples experiences when visiting, took pride in their work.

How do we manage it
Southport is a shell of itself from the 1980's . Liverpool has just sucked the money out of the area, the shopping is in decline like most areas. Still a lovely town & home though. Scarsbrick hotel made me laugh, many a lad has found his doom in that area.
Southport was amazing at one point but its gone depressing now . Its a shame how that's happened it really is .

It's so sad how it's died the town was a lovley victorian town but not worth it nowadays.

@@PathlessExplorer Lived in southport on and off over the last 20yrs and its definitely changed .Hopefully it can get back on its feet again with investment
