    When running a separate power lead for a two way radio , you should use antenna wire to shield the power supply from ignition interference. Run the shielding from the battery negative to the radio chassis for best results.
    I ran mine to the radio and to a duel power outlet so i can charge without the key on.

    Great instructional Marvin. I have thought about getting one of the Oricoms myself. But I want one with the controls all on the handset so I can actually hide the main box away. Cheers mate

      Yes, the controls in the handset is one of the advantages of the Ridge Ryder unit.

      Just a suggestion, have you thought about taking the wiring through the firewall? Thought one of the many grommets that past though it?

      @@yani0511 yep I did as mentioned in the video. However, when I started looking into it, it was too fidly so I went the easiest way :)

    Did you run the antenna cable through the firewall? Where exactly?

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  Před rokem

      I run it along side the positive cable that goes to the unit. Along the passenger side fender as shown in the video.

    You don't need your key to turn to accessories? 2:30

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  Před 5 lety

      I do. It's only the UHF radio that I can turn on without the key. As mentioned in the video, I wired it straight to the battery so I don't need the key to use the UHF.

    Does the antenna not require its own ground?

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  Před 4 lety +1

      Antenna cable goes strait to the back of the unit.
