- ONE SIMPLE change makes a HUGE difference! So glad there is a community of people making things like this to improve the game. I love this mod and have really enjoyed playing Starfield on the Ally with this graphic tweak that really improves performance AND visuals.

Thanks for such a great guide, going to the trouble of explaining the steam way even though you don't use steam (for this game). The modder also deserves a medal for this. I can run it at 18watts and it runs better than me maxing it out previously. Epic!
Thanks! The modder did do an awesome job! Super happy to be able to play on the Ally with good FPS and graphics :)
Thank you bro for the comparison and the tutorial 😊🙏
This is amazing thanks for sharing!
Man! Great! I was wishing to ask you make such video. And here is it. Thanks!
Interesting thing, the gameplay is still good even at 20-30 fps (13w).
Thanks :). And wow, all the way down to 13w and it's still working decent. That is amazing.
Im new to "pc" and definitly thé modding i was stressed but good guide and works like a charm thank you! 🙌
After this my Xbox achievements (gamepass for pc) don't pop anymore... Ill get thé achievement but it's on my Phone because it's connected, not on my Ally?
@@thundergun100 Hey, this doesn't affect achievements at all. It's just changing graphics settings. I'd try restarting and see if they come back. But no need to worry about any achievements being messed up using this :)
@@filt3rless Will try after work thank you.
man your channel is my go to rog ally channel. love all these enhancement videos
This is the mod you want. Dramatic improvement on the Ally. Looks and runs like a different game. Thanks for the heads up!
1000%, it's sooooo good! I'm excited to even see updates that get made on Nexus. I think mods will make Starfield an entirely new game in the future :)
You can set better settings by yourself without any .inis. these basicly arent ultra it rename ultra preset to custom lows and some other stuff too. Looks blurrier than settings i use. But excellent for people who are not great setting up games
@@powerplay074 I'd love to know what settings you're using that is outperforming this ini file. And there are a lot of settings in the INI that can be modified to exact values that you can't do in-game. I've tried and got nothing close to the results I do with this ini file. I think he put a LOT of time into tweaking it, to get it this good.
Sure! I dont say your settings are worse these just look sharper to my eyes. Specially less blurry when watching the row of flags in atlantis city etc. But i only tested your settings in atlantis city. Performance is the same if dynamic resolution is on(like yours) and if Off like i recomend its few fps lower. The game run great with these settings about 35fps open world and 40 to 55fps inside areas. Im playing with rog ally plugged in 30w turbo mode.
120hz screenmode
1080p
RIS on with setting 90%(activate before launch)
Anti-Lag On
VRR tweaked with CRU software to work 30hz-120hz(48hz-120hz is vrr default range)
Ingame settings:
1080p
Resolution scale 70%
VRS on
Depth of field on
Dynamic resolution off(or On if you like higher fps in atlantis city)
FSR2 on(fsr3 soon!)
Sharpening 100%
All medium, but
Both shadow settings and reflections low
@@powerplay074 Okay thanks! I'll have to give this a shot later :). Also I've tested CRU in-depth running 240fps slow motion recordings (then slowed down analyzing each frame), and it doesn't work on the Ally. You can set that value to 1Hz - 300Hz and nothing happens (even on the new AMD drivers). I know it "looks" smoother and I thought the same thing, but after further testing I'm 99% positive it doesn't work or do anything.
I also tested it on 2 freesync monitors as well as a freesync Asus laptop and the monitors got to 40Hz before going black, my Asus laptop only got down to 45Hz before flickering black. Any other FreeSync display (that I've seen) cannot go anywhere near 30FPS. Hope the info helps and I have all the footage recorded, and was planning on doing a video about it. I'm just not sure how many people would be using it, to where the video would provide any value.
Salute my dude!! I'm getting the same FPS i got on low settings with this Ultra mode. 40fps, i'll take that!
Thanks man this was a huge game changer
Used same mod. Works great. Was able to go down to native 720P and this mod made it look like 1080P.
OOF -- Not first! But thanks for the shout out dude!
1000% man, thanks for finding this mod. It works really well :)
Thank you for sharing this and especially for going through every step it takes to get it and install it.
I will buy Ally next week for Starfield, thx for video
Wow thank you for this!
Bro thank you for this video, getting 34fps in New Atlantis on Ultra now is insane 😍
Ty for the vid!❤
This kid actually worked for me on the steam deck with windows 11 installed. I installed the balanced file didn't bother with the performance one bc how good this one runs at 30fps and looks even better then before.
Hey you should try the Steam Deck Essentials mod since it was made for all/any handhelds (despite what the name may suggest) it gives a great performance uplift & ROG Ally is recommended on its mod page. Would love to see more videos of it on the Ally, so far mostly SD content has been posted. Good video!
Hey thanks! I'll check it out :)
Thanks for this. Just did the 900p and this mod and this is definitely the best balance to play starfield. Plugged in on a custom 30W profile getting 30-38 fps in New Atlantis @900p. Still drop just under 30fps in Akali* but better overall.
I get almost identical performance leaving the game at 1080p and 22w, worth trying! New Atlantis is 29-31 fps but otherwise it's great in non cities
@@zakharia4697 so whats the overall fps in the "wilderness" then?
@@Fotomoloman It varies a lot to be completely honest, worst I've seen is 28 and highest usually lower 40's
Sure, I'll subscribe. Good stuff.
Thanks for the video
Insane can’t wait to try these mods
Thanks man the games running great so far in the ally!
Sweet! Glad it helped. It's a game changer!
Omg 😍 It looks amazing now
Great video thanks for this! Could you consider doing a video covering the DLSS 3 mod of Starfield?
Hey @filterless I have found if you run 900p native with all the Hyper RX enabled and texture setting set to performance I'm getting 0 stutter in New Atlantis.
Frame rate stays mostly above 30. I also have wait for refresh set to always on as well. I just let the vrr do it's thing and I'm very happy with the results so far.
The CPU usage is wayyyy lower than any other way I've ran this game.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! This game was unplayable for me would studder and voices were off this combine with moving the game to my main sdd fixed any issues I had!!! So far a hour with the mod and zero hic ups or crashing
If you was having these problems then your settings were off
@TheVoyagers. not sure I didn't change anything in the settings once I moved it to my main ssd and added the mod it just plays like a different game
Truly enjoyed this, so helpful!
Thank you!!
Awesome 👏
Thanks for the guide! Made a big difference for me already but question do you have a guide for video for custom 17w settings? Just barely got my ally yesterday 😅
If you're wanting to use Armoury Crate, then you can go into Manual mode and change it, I have a video here about it: czcams.com/video/NNy5Nkw9oAw/video.html
Personally I like a program called G-Helper, but it can somewhat conflict with AC if you're using "Auto" mode in command center instead of "Gamepad" mode. There is a lot of weird things with AC that I don't like so that's why I've disabled it and just use G-Helper. Here is the G-Helper if you want to check it out: czcams.com/video/-UPfsmZxLss/video.html
There are lots of different pieces of software and settings to mess around with. I have a bunch of videos on my channel, and most of the best ones you'll see if you sort by "Popular" like 900p, G-Helper, etc. I think it's best to just use it how you like though, and if it's working well to just enjoy using it :)
Welp. guess I'm reinstalling Starfield. I tried it on my ROG Ally yesterday and it wasn't a fun time. Thought I'd just stick to my PC for it but with this, I'm definitely trying it again.
Thanks for the heads-up :)
Same, I wasn't enjoying the experience on the Ally or my laptop. This really makes it playable and fun. I'd recommend setting it to 720p / Ultra. I found the increased FPS really help and the visuals still look great! :)
Thanks!
Thanks a bunch! Enjoy the mod it's awesome :)
This was a godsend. So much better than the steamdeck essentials mod !
It definitely is! On my Asus laptop it improves the FPS a ton as well :)
It is interesting to note that despite the fact that the boost to the gpu is higher by more than 300mhz, there is no increase in fps at all. I also noticed this in other games.
Starfield is an CPU heavy game.... And there are overall performance issues because of Many objects when Goin high fps..
Amazing mod. It truly is a massive difference. Playing on my GPD Win Max 2. Thanks for finding this
Np, super glad it helped :). It looks like it works well on just about everything. I'm using it on my laptop and saw a huge gain in FPS as well.
Yep, I'm on a 6800u wifh 32gb Ram and tried 800p then 1600x1000. 1600 plays so close to 800p I'm staying on 1600 since it looks so much better, especially on a 10 inch screen.
@Filterless Hey man, amazingly helpful guide! All your content is beyond helpful for a ROG Ally owner.
Can you do an Escape from Tarkov performance guide? I play on my dock with K+M and monitor but I can’t get a playable FPS AND decent enough visibility to function in-game at the same time..
Hey awsome video!
Do you know if this mod will work on the latest Full game v1.8.88 No Install version?
Dude you are the man- thank you- run at 900 p
I did not believe it would run in ultra but i can confirm that is mod is pure true, works at 100%
Thanks for making a great video like always.
Will this affect the achievements on Xbox app? If so do we need to download a mod to fix that?
Following this
No this will not affect achievements. It's only affecting graphics settings and only the Ultra preset. Nothing core to any part of the game is changing :)
Can wait to try it out!
What amount of VRAM did you allocate in Armoury Crate?
I'm using 5GB. I found it to be the sweet spot for most games :)
🔥
I can confirm with the XGM 6850 I can get Ultra 60fps @ 1440p. In handheld mode I get Ultra 45fps @ 1080p. Thank you for this
Have you figured out what other settings have been reduced besides ao? Also is this better than the "steam deck essentials" mod?
Uey filterless. Love your videos. Could i provide a suggestion? Could you please put some basic spec settings stuff in all your videos comments section. Things like how much vram for example. Would make your guides a little more complete/one stop shop. You provide the best content on these videos, and are really fast in sharing, but more details would make it wven better
Hey thanks! And that is a great idea! I'm still trying to figure out the value to information ratio as I tend to include way too much, making the video too long🤣
@@filt3rless that's fair and I think it's a good idea to not overdo it in the video. But I think taking advantage of the comments section, or video description would help a lot. Another thing, which you may have covered in previous videos... When you give a game setting guide, are you largely just using the default AMD app settings? Or should I be making changes per game? I get I might need to change ris percentages etc, but anything else?
@@TeneT_O.V.B. I believe if you used "Quick Setup" at the beginning it enables an option called "Anti-Lag" which can cause stuttering in some games. Outside of that, there isn't too much to change. I'm planning on doing a video with a bunch of short tips/tricks and plan to include a couple settings in AMD as well as a few other important settings in Amoury Crate.
@@filt3rless amazing. Thanks for taking the feedback onboard in an open manner. You are making great content in this community
Im having issues with launching game using Gamepass version of game. It is telling me graphics driver out of date. It tries to launch and then closes. Any help? I’m showing to have adrenaline 22.40.58.04 as latest version I can get
When I adjust the resolution scale or sharpening, it changes the preset to custom. Do you know if that's overriding the ini file?
From my testing those 2 settings do not override the file. If you switch the preset from high, back to ultra, they should snap right back to the original values. So feel free to mess around with them, then if you don't like it, just jump down a preset and back to ultra :)
Hello my friend, did you find any way to run Fable II? It starts out running well, but after the introduction it becomes completely unplayable.
Yo, YOU ARE THE MAN!! How can I have lower temps with the mod, is this possible? I don't know the software you pulled out for the cpu boost. My temps hover around 93c with 25w mode on.
That is extremely hot for just 25 watts! I usually stay under 80c at all times while using 25W. Are you seeing 90's for the temperature in other games as well at 25W? One thing that could be happening is if you're using Armoury Crate, you'll want to make sure all 3 of the sliders are the same value (25 watts). If they aren't the one in the middle and right will boost higher temporarily, which will cause that spike in temps/wattage for around 2 minutes.
Thanks for the tip, I've only seen it go that high for star field which is weird. Usually I see 25W stay at 72 / 75c. I'll look at armory crate.
@@filt3rless
Im running into an issue when i try logging into nexus it wont let me do the captcha challenge to log in
Has the latest update for the game messed with the mod? My game on ultra now is incredibly choppy now, whereas before it was fine
This sounded intriguing, so I dug out my old Alienware laptop from 2017. I was able to push 30-50FPS on it, despite it only having a GTX 1060.
Nice! It's so strange the Xbox Series X only runs it at 30FPS.
Playing it on my new Aokzoe
Settings are ultra-high and the shadows are all set to low at 1280x800
Was reluctant to buy another Asus device after a bad experience maybe I will next year when they have better hardware qc
Can you turn off dynamic resolution without affecting the file? Nice video!
Yes, and you can always add the file back after making changes if something seems off :)
@Filterless what VRAM do you use for Starfield?
I'm using 5GB, and I use that as well for all the other games.
The mod run to archive files is not longer available 😭
I’m just glad this game just works lol
🤣
Esto podria usarse en gráficos bajos para tener mas fps?
Nice! That 17 watts really sold me. It's funny, though. I run a mix of low/medium settings with a 62% resolution scale, and I never get such poor performance that I saw here.
That said, it doesn't mean I'm not starving for more fps. I prefer a 40 fps minimum, and this will run closer to it.
I downloaded his max performance mod and have been getting consistent 40 to 42fps, my only concern is with turbo mode and cpu boost off, I've noticed my watts jumping up to 42, 43w and about 90°c to 95°c. With my custom profile, I've got it still sitting at 42w on average but my Temps sit still at around 85° to 88°c. Curious if his other files might eliminate that? What're your thoughts? Not to sound confusing or anything, just curious if that's alright to have Temps sitting around that area. Appreciate the video as well, very helpful
Hey, I use a program called G-Helper. I personally don't use Turbo mode because of that really high boost wattage and temperature. I run 13 Watts / 17 Watts / 25 Watts in G-Helper depending on the game and I like it. Here is a video about G-Helper if you're interested: czcams.com/video/-UPfsmZxLss/video.html
@filt3rless i appreciate the quick response! I'll check that out right now and see if that helps my results differ from what I've seen so far. New to the handheld scene and just want to maximize everything. Appreciate the help!
Have you figured out a way to run Starfield at 900p without having to set Windows desktop resolution to 900p? Thanks as always!
I haven't, even looked it up and it looks like it's stuck in windowed full screen. Even when editing the preferences file it still goes to borderless. Hopefully the fix it in a patch.
@@filt3rless Same, thanks for checking
RSR is software, RIS is driver. So you are supposed to choose RIS. RSR is inferior. Tried RIS and it looks better
Please help, my ally won’t get past the loading screen on star field. Crashes every time with no error message. I’ve verified the files, I’ve tried this mod, I’ve tried 1080p, 900p, 720p. The only way I can play is through Xbox cloud streaming. Please help if you can anyone
You ABSOLUTELY have to update your graphics drivers. That’s was the problem I had when I bought the early access. There was a drivers update when Starfield released that is absolutely mandatory to play it on the Ally
This man is doing Zion's work! Praise be!
Hi,I couldn't help but notice the file above the one you downloaded said high,is it possible to run starfield on high 900p with those settings in a custom 17-18 watt profile ,could you try it out, Thanks!!
Hey, I tested the High one that's labeled as "Performance" and there is almost no difference in FPS. I recommend just using the Ultra. And I believe he is working on improving the Ultra one even more soon. It's already amazing though :)
@@filt3rless thanks soo much for testing it out!!
I'll use the ultra when I play the game :)
@@ash-xb8yq Hey, the files have been updated again. I found "Max Performance" now to look better, and perform about the same. I did a quick update comparing them here: czcams.com/video/QuPeduSwLH4/video.html
Next time you go to Nexus, I'd say get the Max Performance one and try it out :)
I did this, I think it's right.... However my game didn't crash at all after adding the new file. Looking great and fps stayed between 35-42 most of the time.
The files were also updated, you might want to try the new "Max Performance" one as it adds back some Ambient Occlusion and I think it looks even better. Even the "Max Graphics" one still performs pretty well.
I don’t get when I put ultra the sharpening or render resolution is totally different than your video. When I want to put the same value it goes custom then and I guess it loses the preset interest
Hey, from my testing it looks like it's still using the "Ultra", but then adjusting to your settings. However, when you switch back to Ultra it seems to revert back to the ini file. You should be able to adjust sharpness/render resolution without any issues and still be getting the performance bump (even though it shows Custom).
What???? 😱😱😱😱 Dude!
Hey man, let me know how it goes :). You'll love this mod, it made the game so much better 🤗
What is this sorcery? 😯
Ugh, I don't have enough SSD space. I don't want to replace the SSD either because I'm waiting to RMA for a refreshed Ally :/... warranty is up in Feb I dunno if its worth dealing with a broken SD card reader forever.
I had my SD Card reader fail as well. I think it's more a matter of time before they fail unless they fixed it, which I haven't seen anything on. So a refreshed unit might do the same thing.
mine failed too. Unless you wanna resell the ally for like a legion go i would just upgrade the ssd
Sorry for my noob question but in case the game receives an update does it ruin this mod?
Hey, you’ll just have to re-copy the file over after and update. I recently tested it and it’s still working great 👍
FILES have been UPDATED. I tested all 3 (Balanced, Max Performance, Max Graphics). Max Performance is the one to use now. I created a quick video comparison here :) czcams.com/video/QuPeduSwLH4/video.html
Same place you get the other one is it? And you replace ultra.ini for the one you want? Thanks for the update!
@@Droideka666 Yes same place and same steps, swapping the Ultra.ini file. I'm personally using the "Max Performance" one right now :)
@@filt3rless gonna try that one too. Was missing ambient occlusion tbh😅
Thanks for the update. Not sure how relevant, but I saw that the creator mentioned to switch to Low settings then back to Ultra for the settings to take effect.
@@mikelockett19 This is a great catch! There is a slight change when going from Low back to Ultra on both Max Graphics and Max Performance, specifically in Ambient Occlusion (it seems to have even more). Performance stays pretty close.
Installed this, can't really mess up the steps as it's so simple to do, I'm getting 22fps with this enabled and that's not even in a city🤦🏾♂️ mod does not work for me apparently
Hey, try lower the settings to low and backing out of the menu, then open the menu back up and go to ultra and see if that does anything.
How much VRAM do you use for Starfield ?
Say 5gb in another comment
If i use this mod and setting this to high or medium can i get better like 60fps?
You'll want to set it to "Ultra" in game so it's using the tweaked settings. You can still adjust the resolution scale and sharpening, but if you use "high" or "medium" you'll find you actually loose FPS and it looks a lot worse. So I'd just stay on Ultra and you're getting really good performance with great visuals.
To me personally, 720p looks blurry, I'm playing at 1080p with mix of hardware unboxed/digital foundry optimized settings and getting 28ish FPS in New Atlantis @ 75% resolution scale, dynamic resolution on.
Windows 11 newest update allows you to open .rar and .7z as well as many other zip file formats. You don’t need another app. Just FYI Loved the video! ❤❤❤
Thank you! Sounds like windows is adding in some useful features finally haha. I'll have to give it a shot, thanks again :)
How long does the battery last u plugged ?
Not very long at all. I'd say in Performance mode, you'd get around 1 1/2 hours. If running Turbo it'll be less than an hour. The Ally is better if you're around a charger more often then not. The Steam Deck OLED is a lot better for long battery life and on the go playing.
there is a way to install these mods in xboxgame version (pc)?
On the PC you can install these on the Gamepass version, but there isn't a way to put these on Xbox (at least not a way I know of).
thanks for response, also im seeing your temp , its still low in 30w , what configuration are you using in the manual curves?? awesome video!!
Hey so will these mods affect our achievements? ( will we still be able to get them )
This mod will not affect achievements. It's only affecting graphics settings (like if you changed them in game). They've just been refined more to exact values.
@@filt3rless thanks bro!! Love the dedication
This disable achievements also by any chance ?
No it shouldn't have any affect on achievements since it's just changing graphics setting.
Havent played this yet and im so tempted to download but i have to sacrifice a game which might be gta v 😅 still on original ssd sadly
That's a tough choice! haha. Might even be worth waiting a little bit for bugs and things to get worked out. I haven't run into any major issues yet, but I haven't had much time to play. Let me know if you do get it though and what you think :)
@@filt3rless so I started playing and I am using the Ultra.ini mod and it works perfectly it's so playable but I low key was let down I really thought you would be able to explore space and land on planets, instead I'm getting old ratchet and clank vibes going from place to place but otherwise it's a pretty cool game 👍🏻
@@Evobed562 Same, I'm not a fan not being able to take off/land manually. The ship animation is basically just in-place of a loading bar. I think I'd rather just get cool tips like we get in Skyrim instead of watching the ship every time.
I'm going to have to download Star Citizen again, this game has made me want to go fly my Origin 100i 🤣
What vram size was you using?
Hey, this is on 5GB of VRAM.
Can we turn film grain off ?
Yes, you can turn it off no issue :)
So I’m unable to turn off motion blur using this file?
Hey, yes you can turn it off/on with no issue :)
@@filt3rless perfect!
Does this mess with achievments?
Hey, no this won't affect that as it's just changing graphics settings.
Is anyone else seeing really low fps now after the update?
I noticed that today. Did you figure it out?
Hey, the update replaced/updated the Ultra.ini file. So you'll just need to add the modded one in it again and it should work.
Miracles don't exist, what did he change to achieve these improvement? does this mod look comparable to low quality preset or noticeably worse, cause with low i am able to keep a locked 30fps already at 18W
Im not gonna lie to you im in akila city running around 57 60 fps in ultra preset 75 percent resolution scale 6700xt 5800x3d when it would before pull 59 60 on low medium settings at like 65 resolution scale so idk what type of voodoo magic this mf did but its real
So you think the Medium preset in the video looks better?
In case you're interested, ambient occlusion has been added back in "Max Performance" and looks pretty good while getting the same performance. I have a video comparison here: czcams.com/video/QuPeduSwLH4/video.html
900p with ris or fsr2 render 70% with ris, with u prefer
why not both?
@@axidrain yeah u correct, i will try later haha
Hey, I found RIS with this mod is a bit too sharp. The sharpness in game is set to 100% in this mod, and I've even lowered that down a little. I didn't notice any issues with RIS on as well though, but it was really sharp and a bit too much IMO.
Do mods disable steam achievements?
It doesn't, it's just changing graphics that are already in the game at a finer scale. The "Low, Med, High" sliders don't allow the finer control you get opening the .ini file, as you can set exact values instead of just a few values.
Why not just use mod manager?
Hey, I personally like to keep as little software installed/running as needed. No harm in using the mod manager though :)
this drains the battery very fast though how do we slow it down
You can try 17 watts Manual or Performance mode at 720p / Ultra with this and get better battery life. The ROG Ally isn't going to last very long though, but that will help a lot compared to running it in Turbo.
Is this only for 900p or can you use 1080 as well?
Works at all resolutions. At 1080p it is harder to maintain 30FPS, however, you're still getting a huge performance bump.
@@filt3rless I’m going testing it . Just installed it and it smooth even on 15w at 900p . Appreciate the videos keeping us in the Loop! When windows isn’t windowing the Rog has been sweet
@@tresxlord 10000%, when windows gets out of the way it's a great device 🤣. I'm planning on throwing Steam OS on it as soon as there is a good option (right now there isn't anything working well enough to be worth it). I think Steam OS could be awesome on it, but we'll have to wait and see :)
Have you tried turning RIS on?
Yes, I've had it on with the mod. However, the mod has been tuned to 100% sharpness with FSR in game, and even that alone without RIS is pretty sharp. So with RIS it's a bit too sharp IMO. You could try it though and toggle it on/off. But in this game I have it off.
@@filt3rless did using RIS drop FPS like RSR?
@@TaiwanTeddy Nope, RIS has no performance impact so try it out if you'd like :)
@@filt3rless great! Thank you!
If i had a gaming laptop could i run it at 60
You should be able to with a powerful enough laptop. I'd get something that RTX 3070 (mobile) or higher. It will also depend on the resolution of the laptop screen. 1440p will be a bit harder to run than 1080p. But a 1440p display will look sharper and that's what my Asus G15 has.
@@filt3rless rog ally wont run it good

Can I change the Render resolution?
Yes you can :)
@@filt3rless the Ultra label changes to Custom. should be fine right? TY SO MUCH
@@JhustineProvido Yeah, as long as Ultra was loaded up before you changed the slider. Also from my testing, when you switch it back to Ultra it'll set the render resolution back to the default 62%. Same with the sharpening, it'll put that back at 100%. I think I like 80% sharpening more, but I'm just happy to be getting such great performance now :)

Both shadow settings and reflections low
Motion blur low
And the game itself turned out excellent! It have it all. Looter shooter, exploration, epic missions and story, brilliant dialogy and characters, spaceship battles ETC. Allready 9hrs in since official release. It only get better!
FRS 3 only works with 60+ fps
What about 1080p?
The frame rate from my testing is too low. If you don't mind going out of the VRR range (under 30FPS) than you can use it. And in lighter areas, it'll easily hold over 30 FPS. But it dipping below 30FPS makes it something I don't personally recommend or use.
