NASCAR has a ton of good momentum as of this upload, and while fans and industry members should be happy with that there still are different questions that need to be answered by NASCAR for the long term of the sport. So today I want to bring some of these forward in good faith that NASCAR can cover these bases before any become a major issue that hampers the sport's growth in the coming years and even decades. So here we are, these are 7 big NASCAR questions that need to be asked.

I think the biggest problem with NASCAR now is the missing stardom…. We don’t have the stars like Gordon and Jr anymore. F1 has the superstar drivers but not the racing… I feel like NASCAR has the good racing but is missing the star power. Our drivers need to be viewed as “rockstars” and in order to do that you need personalities. Good racing + star power = GREAT series

Another thing I think is missing is consistent drivers in terms of who they are driving for/sponsored by.
Jeff Gordon was always the DuPont 24
Jimmy Johnson was always the Lowes 48
They started and ended their (at least full time) NASCAR careers in the same car and number.
The reason I ended up not watching after 2008 was because so many drivers got their numbers switched around starting the 2009 season I couldn’t tell who was who anymore. I always identified the drivers by their name and number. But they are changing so often and so rapidly with different sponsors it can be difficult to keep track

As far as the weather situation, let's PLEASE have an actual rain tire, full rain package, preferably with mudflaps and some type of attachable mud cover to mitigate the rooster-tail effect. This car could race phenomenally in the rain. As long as it's not raining too hard, you wouldn't have to cancel the race, and it would really shake up the formula for these tracks, depending on the weather -drivers who are good at racing in wet weather like Shane Van Gisbergen will really shine with a good rain package, and add to the adaptability of the Cup field's skillset.

I loved the 12 noon and 1pm starts from back in the day and I understand the late starts because of hot weather but you open yourself up for those pop up evening storms in the summer. There's plenty of people under 40 who use cable or satellite tv. Especially in the southeast and midwest. The 2 regions with the most "dead zones" connection wise. At my house, I can do basic web browsing and social media. But trying to stream anything isn't worth all the buffering and poor picture quality. The highest quality I can use on basic CZcams is 480p unless I want constant buffering. Even then I have to wait until 8 pm at night when the connection throttling stops. Also, my monthly cable bill averages $15-$20 cheaper than my monthly ISP bill. If I added a streaming service or 2, my monthly ISP bill would be almost $200

I do have questions for NASCAR…
    - how much longer until the gimmicks (the chase, stages, etc) are gonna last?
    - will the sanctioning ever be strict about drivers showing no respect?
    - if the NASCAR/IndyCar crossover continues without the Indy Road Course, what is the best race track (oval or road course) to have the crossover?
    - what was the purpose about the number placements being mandatorily forward instead of letting the sponsors and teams decide where the numbers should be?
    - what can the sanctioning body to help ARCA continue to exist? (Since they bought ARCA in 2018)
    - will the sanctioning body ever let IndyCar race at ISC tracks again?
    - will the Daytona 500 ever have normal Speedweeks again if money isn’t an issue?
    - after the success of Garage 56 at the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans, Will the sanctioning body ever have some more Stock Cars on the big endurances races? (Rolex 24, 12 Hours of Sebring, big races outside of the US)
    - how come the sanctioning body doesn’t listen to the drivers as much, if not, not at all?
    - the NASCAR diecasts and video game consoles have been a big problem for a while due to the bad quality of the diecasts and how bad nascar gaming console has been, is there solutions for the sanctioning body to make Lionel Racing do better at their jobs? Why are they still with Motorsport Games?
    - will we ever see race tracks have 1 race date a year to make room for more tracks and maybe shorten the schedule a bit so the drivers and teams be with their families more often and making the teams work on what to fix for the next races, and not intervene with the NFL?
Those are the questions I can think of.

As someone who lives in a ruralish area an hour outside the twin cities, cable is basically our only option. Internet is garbage, we can't get satellite internet because it can be interrupted by trees and weather, and some wireless options are blocked by trees. Thankfully T Mobile home internet is good enough for our household of 4 to have decent internet most of the time. The only time our internet from them drops is the Haunted Hayride in Wyoming as we live an air mile away from there, and phone service has higher priority on the T Mobile network. I hope we still get a good amount of cable races, so we aren't straining our internet, but wouldn't be upset about Amazon taking the Xfinity series as we are prime members.

  • @grahamcrackergaming1540

So the deal with the wet weather package, it’s more of a question that I think NASCAR ever since the 2020 Xfinity Roval race and 2021 COTA has been “how much rain is too much?” Cause ya look at F1 rain tire for example they disperse about 70% of water to get as much grip in wet conditions as possible. And I think regardless you’re gonna see massive amounts of spray from the cars, mainly on starts/restarts. I’d say tracks could try having better drainage systems if possible, maybe better and brighter flasher, I did suggest NASCAR could add brake lights to the road course/short track package. As for short tracks, they just need to race in full wet conditions on em if they’re gonna keep racing in the rain on 1 mile and under tracks. U look at Martinsville and North Wilkesboro, it’s obvious they could race the track a little wetter than that. Especially Martinsville where it’s a .5 mile paper clip. It’s just two straightaways and two corners, ya got cars constantly going around it, obviously it’s gonna dry rapidly when ya got 36 cars average racing around it. They didn’t even need to use the wipers during the Truck race cause there wasn’t enough spray to say so. Run the short tracks in the rain if you’re gonna keep doing this and I mean in full wet conditions, have the teams choose when to pit unless it’s Xfinity, Truck, or ARCA and they aren’t running with Cup, and have Goodyear bring actual rain tires to the short tracks, not an intermediate tire. Cause that’s all the wet weather tire is for the short tracks, it’s an intermediate tire. Plus ya look at WEC, Goodyear supplies tires for LMP2 cars and will supply tires for LMGT3 next year, and both Michelin and Goodyear developed rain tires that could last longer in drying conditions. Cause racing in the rain on short tracks could very well be revolutionary to short track racing if done right. Cause it could be passed down through the ranks if NASCAR can do it right with Cup, Xfinity, and Trucks. I think ARCA does it, could try it for the Pinity’s Series and Mexico Series, and in Euro Series for what shirt tracks they do have, and try it in the Super Late Model Tour and Modified Tour if it’s possible. Then maybe if NASCAR gets it right maybe CARS and SRX could try it and see if it works, and so on. As for road courses, I think they just need to work on the limit. If it starts looking like 2021 COTA or 2016 Mid Ohio for Xfinity then that’s probably the limit.

I also don't have the internet at home, so if Nascar goes to streaming also or in place of Fox and NBC , I guess I'll see even fewer race, so at what point do I give up and follow another sport? I guess like Bud Light, Nascar is only concerned about the next generation of fans .

Not a fan of potentially having to purchase another streaming service (hint hint to all the media companies: THERE'S TOO MANY OF THEM OUT THERE NOW, STOP! Go back to the days of Netflix and Hulu and THAT'S IT!) ON TOP of the Sling service I currently have to watch all the races live and watch other sports with from time to time. I like to be frugal with what I pay for, and needing to pay more for the same coverage I'm currently getting would be asinine to me. No, I don't care that signing up for Prime would give more benefits, I'm not interested in them. EV would be a horrible idea, maybe even hybrid would be too. Fuel sources are currently fine. Cup cars need a lot more power on intermediate/shorter tracks. There were other stars in the show during the times of Dale Earnhardt, Dale Jr, Jeff Gordon, etc., and there's plenty of talented stars now, although an opportunity for more actual personality wouldn't hurt. There is a Euro Nascar series, although it would be interesting to see a Cup level series over there, maybe with some drivers from both series coming overseas every so often. Could use better rain tires and rooster tail mitigation, I think re-engineering and repaving every track on the schedule would be astronomically and prohibitively expensive.
CHANGE THE POINTS SYSTEM TO BE MORE LIKE THE WINSTON ERA. Doesn't have to be exactly the same, wins can still be prioritized via greater points worth than in the Winston format, but stop doing this Playoffs nonsense. Maybe even keep stage racing and points rewards, but keep it green throughout unless an actual caution happens around stage breaks. Reward season-long consistency for the entire season, don't level the top ranks of the field just for more entertaining finishes.

Some of the big differences I've seen between Formula 1 and NASCAR, fairly well explain why some fans choose one over the other.
On one hand NASCAR is a lot more driver diverse and gives plenty of the drivers a chance at a win or at least a solid finish making it unpredictable and entertaining. But they have no extremely polarizing figures, and the one's that are most polarizing of the group are nearing retirement, Hamlin, Truex, and KB are just a few I can name off the top of my head. Also the fact that NASCARs sub series' are broadcast on TV makes it a lot easier to watch the rise of young drivers into the cup series unlike with F1.
On the other hand though F1 has that super stardom aspect from drivers like Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc etc. But alongside that is a price as the lack of position change and passing may seem boring in comparision to NASCAR, as the same figures find themselves near the top plenty more often than not. Another thing though that does help F1 is their ability to race in weather, sure not any type of weather, but F1 can race on plenty more rain than NASCAR can at the moment.
Overall I think NASCAR is fairly solid as is, a few tweaks and edits here and there will allow them to develop possibly outside just the States which will massively benefit the international aspect. Allowing for a superstar though, I feel would take away from the parity that for me, gives NASCAR its charm. What currently makes NASCAR entertaining to me is the incredible amount of parity, about 25 drivers can win any given race and it makes everything so unpredictable and entertaining, and therefore different from that of F1.
I love both sports and think both are intriguing to outsiders, while not being the same as each other. It does suck that the fanbases argue so often, but I get it, some people prefer to watch one over the other and I myself can't argue with them. Much love to both series ❤

I would like to see both for streaming as live/post showing of the live for streaming and live this way you get to get the most viewers like NBC does for other sports or ESPN does for some sports. Then I want to see the attempt to try a few series over sea like an Australian one on the same tracks the V12 cars race on and try to do some Enduro series similar to the one stock series popular in Europe. I would like to see a separate series for E cars, hopefully not all are Tesla cars as those I am sure due to how poor they are now for driving they would be so bad they end up with drivers hired by Tesla forced to drive the cars for a job they were secretly hired for and not allowed sponsors of any kind other then some that NASCAR has that would work for an E-car like the tires, the insurance sponsor for NASCAR and so on like Coke company. Just my hopes to see in NASCAR.

3:12 combating staleness and boredom is something I've been talking about.
We (the fans) don't HATE gimmicks.... we hate when a gimmick becomes stale and boring. Let's do dirt maybe every other year, and let's not always do it at Bristol. EL Dora could host a dirt race every other year? Alternate between Indy and the RC year to year. Alternate between Roval and oval the second trip to Charlotte every year. Or, maybe not go to Charlotte twice EVERY year.
Chicago Street was cool let's do something else like that once or twice a year in alternating cities.... because if you just keep doing it in Chicago every year, it's going to get stale and we're going to get bored. Hey, maybe instead of Homestead EVERY year, let's do a street circuit in South Beach every 3rd year?
And we as fans need to be more realistic and realize that NASCAR does a good job of listening to us and tweaking things, but with all the options at their disposal it's just impossible to put out the perfect schedule that checks all the boxes for the entire fan base.
