Those first few weeks after your milk comes in can be very painful. This little $12 pump helps relieve so much pain, while pumping out more milk than any other pump I have used! Now that I have this pump I don't even use my electric one!
In those first few weeks your body will produce more milk than your baby needs as it learns how much your baby will take in During this time I like to pump to create a back up stash to keep in the freezer.
Prior to getting this I would breastfeed then be attached to my pump after. It was exhausting. But with this little one I am able to pump WHILE the baby eats! Not only has it saved me so much time but it pumps more out too! Once I build up a freezer stash I then begin to wean out the silicone pump during feedings so my milk can regulate to my baby's needs.
Do you use this pump as well?

I'm definitely a pregnant mother who needs this and is not a 16 year old guy
Aye, when you’re older (and is you’re attracted to women) it might be helpful.. aha I hate my life sm
Same
I definitely need to know this because I'm totally a pregnant woman
😂😂😂
Well it’ll be useful if you ever help take care of a pregnant woman or if you just know one who complains about stuff like this 🤷
So just I just wanted to mention that when my baby was in the NICU at UAB they were so grateful that I donated all my extra breast milk because many babies that are born drug intoxicated. Breast Milk is the best thing to help them get better faster. You may have to allow them a blood test or something else a questionnaire but to help a sweet innocent child to not be in a horrible situation is amazing.
That's beautiful
Thank you for donating!
Did you have to cut out all dairy to be able to donate?
I had a crazy over supply with my son and I was thinking if I did this time around too I would donate
@@jaidahilton2476 me too, my son is 3 month, i have a crazy oversupply and i'm donating 😊 how much did you produce in a day? Hope you can donate in the future ❤
it's amazing the people that donate. we were able to receive some when we were in the hospital, thank u ladies for donating your love to other babies !
The best advice and it's cheap, easy to use.
'The breast advice'
FYI in general your milk supply will increase or decrease in line with stimulation and baby's hunger, so only expressing enoughto be comfortable can help decrease supply. Your lactation consultant should also tell u to alternate which side baby feeds on first
Yeah don’t pump it
Just makes more lol
Let it freely drip/drain; I would put a towel or diaper underneath
But I did both sides in beginning, esp when engorged.
It can be so hard for some women. When I was nursing I got mastitis several times. My insurance company actually paid to rent a good mechanical pump back when they were still hundreds of dollars and I was told to pump regularly on a schedule.
I exclusively breastfed. I didn't want to pay for a pump so the haaka was all I had. It did an amazing job of building up a good stash!
Oh these are made here in New Zealand. Had one for my daughter she's 8 now. Good to see the business is worldwide. Breath of fire 🤣
When I was younger I thought breast milk was a unlimited supply💀💀
Me too until my mom told me I was barely breastfed for 3 months because she ran out 💀 the rest was on formula, the way I laughed
It is unlimited. Your body will just make as much as the baby needs.
@@carliemichalak5682 Unless for many, many women who don't.
It’s nearly unlimited - if your demand doesn’t tail off, and you keep pumping/feeding, your body will make more milk to keep up with demand.
It is unlimited supply… 😊
As a guy this is a very helpful and informative
And it keeps your milk going, and keeps the demand up so you'll produce more
Yeah I was going to say, if you are looking to reduce your supply, don't fully pump, just extract enough to ease discomfort. Extracting more milk keep the demand up and keeps your supply up.
OMG! So true! I really needed this with my first one. Had it with my second one and was sooooo amazing!! It should be in. 'mandatory for your first child'
Thank you so much! I love your videos. I'm due in a few weeks with my first, and I needed to know this. 🥰
I totally love this for breast feeding moms. I would have my nurse on onside and put just a cup under the other side to catch the milk from that side, this is so much better. I made so much milk but this allowed me to build up an awesome supply. This way my hubby and other could feed the baby.
Someone got me this thing for a baby shower gift- never saw one before! I’m going to go put it in my hospital bag now!
ABSOLUTELY. Yes do this. I actually didn’t haven’t any other pump. Just this
Can testify this thing is clearly amazing. They also have a version with a lid/holding stand.
My sister had a baby earlier this year and she showed me how this works. Literally helped her so much, thank you for spreading information to new moms.
Aw, I'm loving seeing so many thankful milk donation recipients! I donated to the San Jose Milk Bank and, yes, the screen process is...thorough. but it's so nice to hear (read?) That people have benefitted. Like, I knew there were babies who benefitted but still. ❤
It’s in my Amazon cart and thank you for showing me how to use it, I plan on exclusively pumping and due in December 🥰 all the breast feeding advice I can totally use 💯♥️
I hope your journey is going well with your little one!
@@brmp1116 thank you ☺️ things are great she’s growing already was born 12/12/22
That's awesome! They grow so fast!
A Haakaa was one of the first things I put on my baby registry. Excited to see how it goes when my little one comes next month (ish)! :)
The algorithm thinks I'm pregnant apparently...
I LOVE MY HAAKAA!!! Has literally saved me from getting engorged after all five babies. I’ve never needed to use an electric pump. This thing works great and is so gentle! Also so much easier to keep clean as it doesn’t have any little parts.
Thank you for explaining how to use it ! I put in my registry ❤ wish I would’ve used it with my first
Loved my haakkaa! Its a miracle worker 🙏
I had this and loved it the nurses at hospital were amazed it's definitely a necessity
I used this for the first feeding of the day when the baby started sleeping through the night. Otherwise, I would leak/lose milk before I could switch sides. Never want to waste that milk!
Watching this whilst doing the exact same thing..
This helped my partner have milk to feed our girl, when my breasts are sore
Omg we plan to have a baby next year and this pump looks amazing!!!!
I single side fed each one of my kids so I knew they were getting the hind milk. I always fully pumped the other at the same time and would get 8-10 oz each time. Next feeding, I would nurse for the side that was pumped last time.
I really like this idea. You used an electric pump or the haaka?
I really like this idea. You used an electric pump or the haaka?
Yes! Still got milk from my last pregnancy.
Thanks sharing! I’m hoping my baby will nurse both sides every time. However as I recall with my daughter, I think this also happened sometimes where she fell asleep. Thank you for sharing this!
I can confirm this item is amazing. When I got it for my baby shower I was kind of like what in the world even is this..now it's like I cannot function without it haha
That's how those work?! 🤯 so excited.
I did this to try and increase supply because I struggled. Even after feeding both side for over 45mins my baby would act hungry and root. I was catching every bit of milk I could. Also came in handy when I was to be in a wedding and was in pain but didn’t have time or space to get my electric pump out
Feel like I just won the lottery. Thank you for this hack.
I'm pregnant with my third. I've heard so many good things about these. Some say you get more milk with these then an actual pump
I needed this so much when I was nursing.
Pro top. Get the one with the lid!!
The problem with Hakkas that I found is that they provide momentary relief, but exacerbate the problem day after day. The only way to decrease your milk supply is to express just a little bit out to decrease the pain but leave that breast full, so it signals to your body that you don’t need to make that much milk. Plus, it’s not the type of breastmilk you would want to save unless it’s for a toddler or something, because it’s mostly foremilk. It will have a lower fat content.
Something you might find interesting is that there is research that indicates if you pump and give your baby the milk at a different time then the chemicals/hormones thats responsible for that time of the day will go into the baby. This is useful as milk from a night-time pump will have significantly melatonin within the milk than milk from the day-time. Just sharing this so people know and can try for yourselves to see if it makes a difference
Yes! The only pump I’ve used with my second baby 😍
This thing also helps you build and keep a steady supply if you need too, genius invention and a total lifesaver no matter what your needs, worth every penny
I bought one and it works great, except I had an oversupply that made my letdown too forceful so baby wouldn't latch or nurse for the first week. I realized it was making our situation worse instead.
That's great! Wish I had it it 27 years ago!
My daughter had one of these & I thought it was the coolest invention ever! I sure wish I’d had one in 1982!
We did
I tried one
It hurts like crazy (my first was in 1983)
I wonder if you’re talking about that crazy pink rubber “pump” that was actually a device of torture?! That was horrible & I’m glad I learned about it before I got one. Very different from the Haaka.@@YeshuaKingMessiah
I am using one as we speak and love it. FYI don't buy the one with the flower stopper. It doesn't stay in place. The one with the regular lid cover works best. The lid can also be purchased separately. Also they are now made with a larger flat bottom that stays slightly suctioned to a flat surface so it won't spill. Haakaa makes adjustable slicone necklaces that attach to the neck to catch it if it falls off (since it can be put on like you did by flipping the flange or with less suction by squeezing the bulb or simply holding it in place to catch the milk)
WOW MAY GOD BLESS YOU .
AND GIVE YOU HIDAYAH
I so wish I’d had this when I was breastfeeding!!!
Thank you i have honestly can’t wait to breast feed
I’m 3 months pregnant and I’ll take any advice I can get 🙏🏾 thank you!!
8 months in breastfeeding, and I STILL love my Hakka! I use it to catch my letdown from my other breast while nursing, and I use that milk for baths, rashes, added to blw foods, etc. I now have 2 big, and a smaller travel one🤣
So much has changed since I had my babies (youngest is 5) and I'm pregnant again trying to catch up on all the new helpful merch. I used to use milkies milk saver and it was a life saver! But I've heard about the hakka and had no idea that's how your actually supposed to use it. Thanks for the info!
Love these pumps! I actually found the haakaa (sp?) brand SO uncomfortable but i got a knock off from Amazon that is the soft-touch silicone and not as heavy. I've bought them for all my pregnant friends. I think they were $12 for a pair.
Mine doesn't have a auction in the bottom so i just keep an empty coffee mug beside me to put the pump in when full so I don't knock it over
This things are great. Pumping didn’t work for me until I found this
I wish I had that with my four babies. Pumping was so hard but this looks so easy.
I dont like videos for any reason really
But i’ve been liking a lot of yours to save for future use. I’ve had baby fever and someday i’ll need these tips
This and the ladybugs saved my life. I used to leak up to 3 Oz between feedings that I was able to save
Good to know for the future thank you
Wow you modern mums really have it easy haha...wish they'd had something like this when I breastfeeding fed...would have been not only comforting but easy on the sore breasts....
Wish they had that when my son was breastfeeding!
I bought one and never used it! Heard so much about it but there was never a need. If baby was tired after one breast, that’s called falling asleep on the job. We change baby’s diaper and they’re awake for round 2!
Maybe the Haakaa comes in handy if you don’t have an electric pump. Or to catch any leakage I suppose but everyone’s different.
wish I had this with my preemie 24 years ago :)
And...remember to log the time you pumped because ( I also just learnt) the body emmits different homenes at different times
Ooh that's a good one. My baby days are long gone but I like the idea that it just works with suction and gravity, i guess.
It's good for the letdown, so no precious drop is wasted.
Use it while he eats and more milk will be extracted without the breast being stimulated.
Thanks! I need one!
Ah okay that's what I'm missing, thank you!
So everyone is a bit different and the advice varies around the world. We got told that pumping/expressing during early stages was bad as it would indicate to your body that the baby needed more milk supplied. This would then lead to the feeling of being overly full and having pain as your body produced more milk to keep up with the demand.
Like i said though, everyone is different so do what works for you!
I wish they had something like this when I had my daughter 20yrs ago!
Just wanted to let all the pregnant ladies here know, yes, your breast can hurt while breastfeeding, but it is not a thing for everyone...I didn't have to pump any extra milk at all and your breast will match the supply to your babies demand...
Yeah it's good if you're leaking or uncomfortable, or need to build a stash, but engorgement actually tells your body to decrease your supply. If you feel you have an oversupply, don't extract as much milk.
Wow I have one of these I’ve breast fed 3?boys for 2 yrs each never could figure out how to work it I feel dumb lol about to have my fourth boy in 3 weeks thank you 🙏
Pay the $30 for the one that has a suction cup on the bottom and has a lid. ❤️
Brilliant information
I feel it's same thing
I had a hakka and very much did not know how to use it so nothing happened. I might get another for this baby and try again
Just bought it. I'm on baby no 5 too
I was using that totally wrong lol. It hurt when I tried it so I gave that up
Dang, I'm in no way near close to having a kid, but I'll defo keep this in mind!
Ohhhhhhh I thought you had to squeeze it manually!!
When I was pregnant I had a good Mille flow. If anything I was making a lot of milk. But I would feed baby on one breast and then the next feed is feed the next. The other one wasn’t filling up because I just fed from that one last. It takes a minute for ur body to adjust to that system. But it means ur not doing two jobs at once me can focus on the bond that breast feeding has. And btw always want to add no shame to anyone who doesn’t breast feed I exclusively breast fed for 10 months and then it was formula feeds in the day to make it easier for the nursery. And just night feeds until he was 1 and I was 18 and very proud of myself for doing it. But I was also very aware that my body might just not work and it was hard. So I get not doing it. When my milk first came in I would express a little out the other breast just to ease the pain but sometimes baby soothed on feeding so it wasn’t always on the dot 2 hours but everyone is different
LOVE the hakka
Oh my gosh. I wish I had known how to use this while I breastfeeding my daughter. I had such a low supply and she preferred one side, while she was feeding the other would just leak and leak and I didn’t know how I could save it. I felt like a failure for the longest time once I had to start giving her formula exclusively because I couldn’t get her full on my own
Back in the day they'd pop the baby off after a few minutes and switch to the other boob, often switching so each boob is used twice
This way one boob isn't bigger than the other
I think this also taught the baby that it's ok to be interrupted and that it's not a catastrophe. Hard to say!
I just wouldn't use the word pump when referring to the haaka. That isn't what it is doing, it is more drawing the milk out.
Pump does the same.
I wish they had this when I was breast feeding my son I hated to have to pump on one side while he fed on the other
I’m telling you. New moms. GET THIS!! just make sure you use the little lanyard it gives you. Talk about crying over spilled milk!!
I love my haakaa but it does lose its suction ability the more often you use it and wash it. Their website confirmed this cuz I thought I was crazy 😢
I get 1-2oz a feed when I use it!
Unfortunately. I never seemed to make any extra. So I could suction this to the opposite breast and it never caught more than a drop. After 3 months i just donated mine to the WIC program.
For some reason, this scares me more than anything else about pregnancy😵💫
Question. How does this affect the milk supply, if at all? Can it run the risk of not having enough milk inside you next time baby is ready for nursing, or does this actually increase milk supply?
I know you posted this forever ago, but have you tried the ladybug Hakkas? I am a first time mom trying to decide…
The small flat version of this called the lady bug is also great because you can fit it inside your bra and wont be in the way of your baby and they cant kick it off and make a huge mess.
I wish I had that 20 years ago.
I never thought I’d have a huge milk supply my baby was constantly throwing up because of how much milk was pouring out of me , my baby is now 2 years old and I stopped breastfeeding 3 months ago and yet I still have a ton of milk coming out how tf can I stop it 😭
So if you freeze it, does it taste different thawed than it would fresh? I'm asking for the baby lol 😆 honestly though, my nephews were really picky about formula and if my sisters had to switch they wouldn't eat for what felt like forever! 🥺
I wish more people donated! I am an adult and I have a serious health condition that I had to get a transplant for from another country. According to my doctors, many patients could be treated and cured by breastmilk had it be easier to secure and more norm to drink it. They say most wouldnt drink it. I offered to! I'd rather drink some weird milk vs transplant but it wasn't an option unfortunately. If donating was more norm, we could be opening up an entire world of medical treatments.
My baby would kick that one, I used the collection shells and had to empty them once or twice per boob per feed
Where do you find it
$12? That isn’t bad at all
