That is wildly incorrect. The opponent's name is M, who comes from a Mario 64 horror rom hack named "sm64.z64". The hack's story goes in sections, with each (intentional) crash being the way the story progresses, each reset showing more and more of the world's objects slowly disappearing. On the last playable reset, it's dark in Bob-Omb Battlefield, with the only object one would be aware of being Mario. When you cross the bridge to get to the mountain once more, a 30 second timer is suddenly shown, making it a frantic dash to get to the top before it's too late. Unfortunately, there's nothing at all waiting for you up there, the timer counts to 0, you hear a dreadful noise (the same one heard at the beginning of Better Off), and then... M begins to float towards Mario's location at a quick pace, try as one might, eventually M will catch up, for there is no exit, nor a way to hide. Eventually, M catches Mario, for there was never any escape. The game hard crashes with a fatal error, not even bringing up the game's crash handler. When you load the ROM for the final time, the world's back to normal, with one exception. Mario is gone. The hack then leaves you one final message. "Everything's better off without you." It is theorised that in this story, that M deletes Mario from the game's code. (Which is untrue if you delete the save file on your emulator.) So, yeah. Hope this clears things up for you.
