Jason & I jumped into the truck and went on a road trip to MU Thompson Research where we was able to demo some new equipment through our local @SydenstrickerNobbePartners Hay Days -
Jason really liked the Kuhn Rotatory Rake - - will you see us get one in the future?! will we ever go back to round bales?! lots and lots of questions to the future - but right now one thing is for certain .. well continue to be doing HAY in some sort of aspects.

When we went to a rotary rake we figured we saved half a day on drying time and increased baler capacity by 10% with the fluffier and more consistent windows.

That fancy net wrap has been on the market for about 8 years about now but o it's spendy!
I run rotary rake at 7-8 mph and cleans the field just as good at slower speeds

Nice to use new equipment when it is free.The types of rakes do a wonderful job of fluffing the hay for faster drying.
We run a kuhn double rotary rake for years now don't have to keep rising and lowering it all the time do one outside row then run straight rows back and forth
You folks usually cut with a lot more stubble height than we Do because our variety grows under the ground instead of on top... so we can almost shave the ground without delaying the grow back As I have commented before.....Althouh we have the capability to bale/bundle in the field..... Round in the field, small square under cover at a moments notice, But the set up to convert is expensive.....
You still go girl because you can do anything you set your mind too. I will always believe in you
I never seen Lespedeza with a yellow flower. Although there are different varieties.
I would think you are able to stack them easier and move them easier when they are the square bails vs the round. Esp. with that handy grabber claw piece of equipment that Jason has for moving the bails.
We used the twinstars. Pricey,but great rake. Nice to put windrows next to each other,better drying and easier with a round baler to bale
My Kuhn roto rake is the only “new” item I bought. Love it.

I am haying on very heavy ground.. very hard to dry hay laying flat..hard to get four days in a row to dry hay using roll bar rake and wheel rakes.. went to a single head rotary rake first and then a two head rotary rake and I can make dry hay in three days! If you buy one make sure the size matches your mower.. otherwise you will leave hay in the field.,
Kayla about 50 to 60 miles north of Wichita Kansas a woman got bit by a rattle snake , she was feeding her horses. Rattle snakes are rare in this area.
You guy work great together, love your videos. Just my opnion but I'd think pretty hard about trading that speed rake for a rotary rake, I think the rotary rakes are pretty hard on the alfalfa leaves if your doing much alfalfa. I've got one of each.

Viewed 9-10-22 from Illinois, I like that rake concept over the wheel and parallel bar rake. Why the wheel and bar tend to roll the windrow up, rather than leaving it " fluffed up "
There were a lot of pros Jason liked … the price tag however. We are sticking to the Wheel for now.

We had a wheel rake. Went to Kuhn rake. We’ll never go back. We tried it after we bailed a field and got a few more bails behind the wheel rake

i use a pequea rotary rake and love it as long as you have it set up correctly have very like dirt and dust, with since we have horses we try to have the cleanest hay we can. not as worried about our cow hay. the rotary rakes do beautiful jobs, the only negative is run on pto. but when you get beautiful windrows and very like dirt and stones in the hay its worth it jmo.
The rotary rake is a big seller here in Ireland. Nice to see your subscribers increasing as well.. 👌

The guy talking about the net wrap knows his stuff. I am John Deere net wrap guy. That’s all we will have.
Look like to me, JD puts most of the haymaking into the round balers.
What did you think of the PTO rotary rake?
It was okay - i think it does a great job for Alfalfa - but for how we run our business/ system I’m not sure it would pencil out for now. Lol Jason needs speed - to stay ahead of me.

It really just depends. Some years are worse than others.
