Even 'pernanent' tattoos aren't permanent, and unless they are huge they can usually be dealt with. Most can at least be erased to the point that you can get something else done in that same area.
@@stuchly1 laser tattoo removal is definitely not "easy". Black might be the easiest color but line work is often the most stubborn to remove. Obviously she can afford it but she'll need multiple treatments spaced out over a year or two to get it all removed.

She made an excuse like "it hurt" but the characters IN THE MIDDLE were dropped for the kanji at the end that had a lot of strokes! xD If she didn't want that much pain, she should've switched "yubiwa" to hiragana instead, it doesn't change the meaning and it would remain accurate while not hurting much!

The first two Kanji mean "always" or "constantly." The last three Kanji mean "faithful," "loyal," "devoted," and/or "diligent." It's most often read as "faithful."

9kay It says in the Japanese wiki that there are some theories as to why, but they're not confirmed. One is 七厘 (a similar sounding kanji but used for measurement) was the amount of coal sufficient to grill, or because the part at the bottom of the grill has 7 holes. My family didn't use this so I dunno if these are true. /shrug I hope someone can elaborate!
I read that at some point it's an evolution of "seven ring grill" in that it's a very cheap grill that only cost seven "rin" (assuming "rin" is an old name for Japanese currency that looks like a ring, like Sixpence in Europe, which no longer exists)

While it's true that there are shirts and pants in Japan that have weird or funny things on them, personally I find it to be endearing. I'll have a nice chuckle to myself and keep it moving. I've seen enough Marijuana leaves, curse words and depressing phrases on Japanese clothing that it doesn't phase me anymore. That said, even as an American looking at this, I think her tattoo is pretty amusing. No one is immune to a little bit of parody.

Nor will they, because Japanese people had a different upbringing than Japanese-Americans or Asian-Americans in general. They grew up with every tv show/movie etc having all Japanese people, they grew up where Japanese culture was the norm (because it’s Japan). Whereas in Western countries, Asian cultures (and many other cultures) have been mocked and degraded in the past, and diversity is still a big issue. So when people outside that culture then use something in it to be “trendy” or use it/the people as decoration, that’s really kind of shitty that now that white people want it, it’s suddenly okay/cool/acceptable (like white people in the US using Native American headdresses for music festivals or sporting events, even though throughout US history, the government and society worked to greatly suppress Native America culture, up to and including killing Natives and stealing their children to raise them in white Christian homes to assimilate them). You can’t just dismiss the argument out of hand by saying “well look, people in Japan didn’t care about cultural appropriation.” They never will, because they don’t have that history. You can argue it wasn’t cultural appropriation (and I think you’d have a lot of good points against it, because with tattoos and languages where is the line of acceptable use there?). But just saying “oh Japanese people said it was okay, so it’s okay” really isn’t the greatest argument.

In English, we have compound words that don't necessarily mean the same as those words used individually. Like waterfall, snowshoe or something. Like, if water is falling from somewhere, or you have rain... there's definitely water and it's falling, but it's not the same as a waterfall specifically. And if you took a big pile of snow and shaped it into a shoe, like, that would certainly BE a snow shoe but it wouldn't be a snowshoe, since that's specifically a very big, wide shoe designed to help you walk on top of deep snow. Is it sort of like that? Where the word on it's own means something specific but it's components could also mean what Ariana intended?

@@tigerfestivals5137 it's clearly not the same, a cheap t-shirt is a cheap t-shirt, you will not be using it all the time and will end up throwing it away when you feel it's time, or if you find there's something weird written. A tattoo will be with you your whole life, so you should at least do some research before getting one.

So what was your point again? Even 'pernanent' tattoos aren't permanent, and unless they are huge they can usually be dealt with. Most can at least be erased to the point that you can get something else done in that same area.
@@stuchly1 laser tattoo removal is definitely not "easy". Black might be the easiest color but line work is often the most stubborn to remove. Obviously she can afford it but she'll need multiple treatments spaced out over a year or two to get it all removed.

The characters in her video 7 Rings (nanatsu no yubiwa 7つの指輪) was just okay, she should have gone with that. I don't know why she thought it was a good idea to shorten them. She made an excuse like "it hurt" but the characters IN THE MIDDLE were dropped for the kanji at the end that had a lot of strokes! xD If she didn't want that much pain, she should've switched "yubiwa" to hiragana instead, it doesn't change the meaning and it would remain accurate while not hurting much!
The thing is. It was shown that she did have someone Japanese tell her the meaning. They even told her how it should be written but she went and still did it her way. Instead of actually taking the advice.
Reona Wright That pic with her tutor was AFTER people called her out about the shichirin tattoo, the tutor told her to put 指 above the tattoo to maybe remedy it but it's clear as day that it wasn't able to fit because there were no more space above so she just put it below. The first two Kanji mean "always" or "constantly." The last three Kanji mean "faithful," "loyal," "devoted," and/or "diligent." It's most often read as "faithful."

9kay It says in the Japanese wiki that there are some theories as to why, but they're not confirmed. One is 七厘 (a similar sounding kanji but used for measurement) was the amount of coal sufficient to grill, or because the part at the bottom of the grill has 7 holes.
My family didn't use this so I dunno if these are true. /shrug

I read that at some point it's an evolution of "seven ring grill" in that it's a very cheap grill that only cost seven "rin" (assuming "rin" is an old name for Japanese currency that looks like a ring, like Sixpence in Europe, which no longer exists)

While it's true that there are shirts and pants in Japan that have weird or funny things on them, personally I find it to be endearing. I'll have a nice chuckle to myself and keep it moving. I've seen enough Marijuana leaves, curse words and depressing phrases on Japanese clothing that it doesn't phase me anymore. That said, even as an American looking at this, I think her tattoo is pretty amusing. No one is immune to a little bit of parody.
What I really didn't like about the tattoo is that it looks like someone's sloppy handwriting. If you're going to get a tattoo of text at least use a nice font.

Nor will they, because Japanese people had a different upbringing than Japanese-Americans or Asian-Americans in general. They grew up with every tv show/movie etc having all Japanese people, they grew up where Japanese culture was the norm (because it’s Japan). Whereas in Western countries, Asian cultures (and many other cultures) have been mocked and degraded in the past, and diversity is still a big issue. So when people outside that culture then use something in it to be “trendy” or use it/the people as decoration, that’s really kind of shitty that now that white people want it, it’s suddenly okay/cool/acceptable (like white people in the US using Native American headdresses for music festivals or sporting events, even though throughout US history, the government and society worked to greatly suppress Native America culture, up to and including killing Natives and stealing their children to raise them in white Christian homes to assimilate them). You can’t just dismiss the argument out of hand by saying “well look, people in Japan didn’t care about cultural appropriation.” They never will, because they don’t have that history. You can argue it wasn’t cultural appropriation (and I think you’d have a lot of good points against it, because with tattoos and languages where is the line of acceptable use there?). But just saying “oh Japanese people said it was okay, so it’s okay” really isn’t the greatest argument.

In English, we have compound words that don't necessarily mean the same as those words used individually. Like waterfall, snowshoe or something. Like, if water is falling from somewhere, or you have rain... there's definitely water and it's falling, but it's not the same as a waterfall specifically. And if you took a big pile of snow and shaped it into a shoe, like, that would certainly BE a snow shoe but it wouldn't be a snowshoe, since that's specifically a very big, wide shoe designed to help you walk on top of deep snow. Is it sort of like that? Where the word on it's own means something specific but it's components could also mean what Ariana intended?
