What Have I Done? This Is The Worst Car I've Ever Bought - 1955 Chevy Nomad

- Well, My 1955 Chevy Nomad is finally in the garage. It's bad guys, so very very bad. I don't think there is 1 good part or panel on this hot rod, but it is a NOMAD.
I believe the car was probably an old race car many years ago then transitioned into a left for dead parts car. The only good part on this car is the roof, that's it! But it is a Nomad roof, and that is what makes this whole car worth saving.
Front Clip? Rotten and missing the hood
Trim? No, there's no trim
Floors? Rotten from the fire wall to the tail panel
Doors? Missing!
Quarter Panels? 1 missing, 1 rotten
Interior? haha, there's no interior
At least the frame was in good shape, oh wait NO IT'S NOT
A roof and a serial number is all I bought
That being said I am SUPER excited about this car!
So drop a Subscription and follow along on this terrible journey
Also buy a shirt so I can buy more hood scoops:

I’m lucky, we haven’t gotten our snow ❄️ yet.
Your project explanations are always in depth yet easy to follow. Your time lines are killer. Always look forward to every episode. You got this!
Thanks Brian!
I am enjoying this build! Hope there's a new video tomorrow before the live feed. I watched the new ghost busters with my kids yesterday. Told my daughter you were making the ghost of a nomad and bringing it back to life possessed by the sedan delivery 🤣
Dani Is looking like a natural bobcat operator!! Good work putting the chassis on the new shop ! 😊
This video series has been very funny and informational as usual. I really liked your case in not cutting up the delivery and then equally as compelling as to why it needed to be cut. "First time driving." That's hilarious and if I had a nomad I'd do the same. I have to say I love all 3 years the same but it always goes 55, 55 and 57. Always 55.
Dang it looks cold there 😜 Stay warm my friend 😊👍
It's great that you are an optimist. Really enjoy you making something out of next to nothing.
Dennis here. Awesome driving the bobcat danni. you have mastered it I see. great job. Thank you
This is my favorite youtube channel. I always wanted to do tri 5 wagon. But I'd wait an extra few minutes for the next video so you have time to put safety glasses on when I running a cutoff wheel. Can't wait for the next video.
55s and 57s are definitely my favorite
I just finished picking up leaves yesterday! FINALLY!!! Two days of it..
YIKES!!! SNOW IN WINNIPEG MANITOBA, CANADA!!!!!
Be looking forward to seeing you working on the 55 Nomad
Your treasure is one another. It is wonderful you get along so well. It's great to share common goals and avocations. Healthy-minded people. It's wonderful.
Mad props Dani with the Bob Kitty!
Looking at the numbers of your subscribers, hello 100,000 subscribers before spring !. Absolutely love the channel, congratulation on the new real estate more room to play
What a fantastic job of rangling the Bob kitty Dani did getting the chassis over to the other garage !!
That Nomad is Gonna Be Wicked ! Can't Wait To See You Get Started On The 55 Nomad ❗
Not really a Tri- Five fan myself...
But I really like watching your channel to see the work you do...
Ready for bodywork by Christmas ?? See,, it’s comments like that, that keep me tuned in...
Stay warm you two....
Gotta hustle haha
You will have a lot of fun building that. Your enthusiasm is high!
My first grade teacher drove a Nomad to school for awhile. She also had a 442 Olds. The last classic she had was a '63 silver Corvette. I'm 58 now but I still have a crush on her! Al B.
Dani comes Bob Catting home....Lol. Great line, thanks for helping Dani.
Lets get some sparks flying.
I’m looking forward to this build. It’s a freaking nomad!!!!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Dani's getting pretty good on that Bobcat.
This is the dream car of many hotrodders. I wish you luck on the Nomad project. I don't think it will be a waste of money.
Yeah itll come together in a hurry haha
That was pretty slick how she turned that frame into the garage!
Way to go Dani! You guys are growing and doing great!
Dan , I was one of the ones that was peed off when you butchered the sedan delivery. That being said, I would never unsubscribe to my favorite channel. For those that unsubscribed I can just say,
“ Get Over It”. Always enjoy your content.
Thanks for sharing your garage with me and all of the hours that I have enjoyed watching your videos.
👊😎👍
Haha thanks man! I appreciate the support
Liking the videos already, by the way it's 65 here in Vegas, with the lows around 50. Hope you have a great holiday.
Great Video keep them coming !!
Oh wow the back corner glass is now repo. I worked on my sons 56 Safari while he was on 4 year band gig. I had a guy who worked for Danchuk I lived in Ontario calif then come out and fix( up date) lift rear window I think he took out rear glass door spring check that out makes them live a lot longer
WOW!!! Danni does fantastic with the bobmew!!! WELL DONE
More power to ya! You’ll make Squealer looking great!😁
Dani is getting good at the Bobcat!
Dani did great job moving snow and Nomad frame.
Yeah, she rocks! She's a keeper!
@@deliveryguyrx haha she sure is
That’s hilarious Dan put it back out side? lol, your awesome !! that just made my day lol this is what I love about your channel you just make me laugh ,cause it’s real life what you say and the way you say it bud ,keep up the good work ! your the man Dan !!!
I found a complete rear seat for the Nomad wagon with nice original upholstery if you need one.
Cheap labor ain't good, good labor ain't cheap!
You got the new garage painted , nice
It is amazing you haven’t slowed down on videos after buying a new house, tearing up fences, rocking new driveways, and coordinating all the new garage upgrades. I didn’t believe you could work any harder until now.
Just gotta stay busy haha
When Danny comes Bobcating perfect song
It’s going to be a great build awesome to watch
Owned that car years ago . Glad to see it being work on !
SOoooo.... Did you do the fiberglass work ?? lol
Hey it lasted this long,, just saying.........
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE NOMAD FINISHED!!!
she is getting pretty good with that bobcat.
Looking forward to the Nomad Build 🖒🖒
I enjoy your videos you crack me up all the time. Stop worrying about what others say these are your projects and you do a great job on teaching. Keep up the fun while you still can. Take care!
I would never unsubscribe. You guys are the best. I do the same thing . I drag dead things home and make them work again . And when Danielle said she would love a Nomad for Christmas she won my heart. I know she taking. Just saying.
Cool!!! She's pretty handy!!!
you gotta do you man haters will hate no matter what you do or dont do. Im excited to see this build.
Damn I'm glad we don't have snow like that in Ontario it snowed a bit the other day but it was enough to cover the roofs and that was it on thursday the 18 it was 15 C out it was like a spring day it was awesome but it got cold again
Very cool project!!! I will watch all of the videos!!👍😎😎😎
Dani looks to be becoming quite the Bob Kitty operator! Nomad has to be my favorite car.
Dani you was working that bobcat like a pro woman. Dan I see a beautiful wagon there , that's a diamond in the rough. Only because I've seen your work and its going to be beautiful.
I think Dani is liking that Bobcat a little to much!
Hopefully the Nomad content will come in handy for me some day
Bah! You got this man, but holy hell is that puppy rough! Out of all your builds I think I may be the most enthused to see this one.
Love it! Been lookin for a nomad
Man this build is gonna be great! Hell ya Dan !
I had two 57 Nomads once, but ended up flipping them before I could part the rougher of the two out! Looks like you have most of the Nomad-specific stainless around the windows, which would be really expensive. Garnish mouldings inside and all that window-related stuff ... looks like you are missing a couple. The caps on the wing windows are the same as a hardtop.
A bucket seated gasser with a roll-bar in the back and plexi rear windows would save you the cost and effort of expensive original parts, but ... If I remember correctly, the original seats are the same as in other wagons (split-back front bench for 2-door cars of course) but Nomad seats are augmented with (reproduced) stainless trim. You may want to just fix those doors. The lower inside frame is available as is a lower skin. A day's worth of work ... Having the pot-metal upper tailgate fixed could be a problem too. Just my experience with these things! Looking forward to see you work on this one, sounds like you are going to be doing your very best work which will be even more fun to watch!
Thanks for thr support man!
Can’t wait to see what you have in mind for this one… like all your other projects it’ll be great once you get it goin. Shout out to you from Mexico my friend
Back in the early 70s my neighbor built a 56 Nomad as his race car . He worked at a Parts Store and built a 350 engine and had it paired with a muncy rock crusher 4 speed . He had 69 z28 mags all the way around it that looked like the American racing Torque Trurst wheels . Had camero buckets with just carpet in the back no seats . He won many street races with that big body car . It got stolen from in front of the store one night ( the ignition latch would stick and all you had to do is turn the housing without the key the way the original stuck out and the key would drop almost all the way in the housing and that is what you turned not the key head , bad design ). But he got the car back and he had a customer that wanted that body . So they made a trade with my buddy keeping the motor and trans out of the Nomad and the trade was a 2 door 56 Belair hard top . We got it together , he bought some slicks and put them on 8in rally wheels and we would put them on at the track along with pulling the exhaust up with 2 bolts out of the way so it was open headers and put a velocity stack on the carb to draw more air . That car ran mid 12s on a 1/4 mile track with at that time was fast for a street car full body all bumpers and rear seat in it . Then after the day of racing we put the mufflers back down bolted up the headers , the street tires and wheels back on and the Mr Gasket chrome breather back on and drove it home . We had a AArco gas station near where we lived that sold racing fuel 110 octane you just had to put a can of add lead in the tank . He ran that car for a few years and was offered more money than he had put in both the Nomad and the Belair combined so he sold it and was able to pay cash for a 79 Formula (a step down in my book) but that was all the rage back then . So now you know my love for the 56 body style .
I agree, 56’ is not my jam either. 55’ is #1,followed by 57’. You made the right call,Dan! 👍🏻
Hey man I watch you all the time, love the content I've learned alot, I'm redoing a 55 Blair, would like to send you some pictures,
Sweet! Email em to me
@@DDSpeedShop what's your email address please
Dan the driver door is different because it belongs on a pontiac safari....
Your car do what you want. I don't always agree with what you do but I still watch your channel every day.
Lots snow there !!...cold& cloudy in Southeast Kansas lol....this Awesome 55 Nomad should consider a paintjob nothing high Dollar but looks cool Especially if you have the Equipment to do it.The quarter Glass panels& rear glass aren't cheap but I seen a set on Ebay for $729....
Look some people don't get it...I'm from Alaska and like most northern folks ,you work with what you have and make what you want....gonna look awsome..can't wait to see it come together...
Like too see how this one turns out
Nice operation of that bobcat hun. I have seen so called specialists that could not do what you have. 👍😎👋
Dan's Tri-five Winter Wonderland!
Sounds good going to be fun to watch
While the Nomad looks like a challenge, you are the right person and personality to make the best of this car. Good luck!! I'll be watching. Cheers!! 🤓
They do repop the nomad door shells. They are the same 55-7. Not cheap, but if you wanted to do it right, it’s an option!
You are the man to make this happen.
Dan, the stainless or chrome front fender cap covers are very rare!
And expensive haga
your deffinatly on the right trac sacrificing the 56 delivery for the frame and rear floor, the 55 nomad is the nicest nomad of them all, you will find the trim and the build will be your best one yet.
My god the fenders are the best bit of it
Dani is amazing on the Bobcat, she could become full time
It's obvious that Dani learning to master that bobcat is starting to pay big dividends. Get her a set of forks for that thing and you'll be surprised how much it saves on your back.
I believe the 1956 sedan Delivery production # was 7,441 total produced.
Just keep hammering away Man. Hard Work n Determination can get a lot done.
Wheel lip is higher on the rear of the 55 then the 56-57 nomad ,all trim peace’s are available including the headlight side trim molding 55 only at the Pomona swap meet in CA but little $$$$$ and older friend how passed on recently owned a 55 nomad he had restored the family sold it for a little over 200K and yes fewer panels where made then nomads.
In the beginning of a project your main focus is removing the ugly parts. Rust, body filler and damaged panels are the enemy of almost every car restorer/enthusiast. I enjoy watching you work.
Great video man you keep doin you
Dan you got hammered by snow, here in Ohio both sedan delivery and nomad are big money just like two door tri 5.
Oh I'm so excited to see this transformation
Have a buddy years ago that built a hotrod out of a nomad just like that. Pearl black 'bucket seats tons of original chrome '454 ci. Floor stickers diamond black upholstery. Most beautiful station wagon ever.
I just picked up a 55 nomad in maine yours is way better then mine for sure but I plan on mounting the body on a 96 caprice chassis
Dani is absolutely brilliant on the bobcat. Looks like she’s been doing it forever.👍
I think it would be a "carchaeological" dig 🤣🤣🤣👍
I’ll watch all the videos Dan you been not having videos! I’m used to one a day lately not so much ! Hope it get back to normal . I know the new garage and house , are a big deal. But don’t watch yer channel for yer houses or garages , cars , yer dogs , Danni and watching yer hair get caught in the creeper lol love you guys
I love the nomad! Just my suggestion...name violet the nomad color violet. Idk i like it.
Well stop yapping and get to work!!! 😆 Will be cool to see this one pieced together. Looks like you've got yourself a full-time Bobcat operator, she getting pretty good at it! 👌👍👍
Dani rocks the Bobcat… crap timing with the weather…
Dani is a pro on that bobcat! Chassis looks great! Nomad is gonna be cool!
There's a guy where I grew up at in vandalia Ohio got a 56 delivery panel wagon been sitting underneath the carport for 40 years good shape too
The "Sad Nomad" ... good one! Altho you have some work ahead of you ... try to enjoy this build. A 55 Nomad, it is going to be all worth it.
Did i hear you say " i want to do it up good " ? SWEET !!!!
I CANNOT wait to see the progress of this one. I have always wanted one and now I can see if I get one this rough (might be the only way I can afford it) if I can do it. thanks for sharing this project with us.
Rough usually means affordable haha
You are an ambitious team. "When The Saints go Marching In" tune was great. Thanks for the content.
