    Your videos have really helped me be less afraid of urban sketching and just drawing people in general. Watching how you evaluate space & proportions in a simple way has helped me loosen up in my sketches which makes drawing less intimidating and more fun so thank you!

    I like the way you simplify the head. The way of not connecting the lines. I think I get it but it will be useful if you do a tutorial on simplified heads.

    You are so simple in your tutorials and I have found this to an absolutely amazing help. Thanks so much? Can you include some sketches of nature and wildlife in your tutorials? I am into nature journaling and your method of capturing silhouettes quickly would make it an excellent approach to capture nature quickly. Thanks.

    Your videos are helpful. I personally enjoy the not over technical explanations. However, I just can't get the width of shoulder right! I draw a basic ok head, but when I try place the outside shoulder/upper arm , it is pure luck if it is in proportion height or width to head/neck I've just drawn. Any advise?

    • @SketchingScottie
      @SketchingScottie  Před rokem +3

      Good question. For a man in front view, I start from the side of the head and go across one head width to find the side of the shoulder (A woman would be roughly 1/2 a head width across). So the total width of the body is roughly 3 head widths(2 to 2.5 heads for a woman).
      I also go down from the chin roughly 1/3 of the height of the head to find the top of the shoulder.
      These are very basic measurements that I have in the back of my mind as I sketch and it all depends on the person but I find it helps to start with these. As the pose changes from front view I have to guess a bit. If you want to explore other methods you could try drawing a mannequin with pencil to lay out these proportions.
      I hope that helps David!
