- Another brave company has sent me their 4x2x2 PVC enclosure for me to unbox, build and scrutinize for you all to see.
People keep mentioning this enclosure is out of stock, but it's actually just dropshipped from China lol. You can buy it on Chewy under a different brand with my affiliate link here: prf.hn/l/aQw0NpV

10 months later 😭
I believe the Dubia ones have glass doors now though whereas the Symton version still has the plexiglass.
This is a knock off mine came with glass doors and the fit was so tight the send a special hammer to tap the parts together mine has no rattle or shake what so ever
Can we just take a second to also mention what a wonderful company Dubia is? They donate so much time and money to reptile rescues and other charities.
And they have stellar products. Only place I can find reasonably priced baby hornworms for my small leopard gecko.
I'm in the UK so I can't order from them :,( lol
Okay now I'm definitely buying 🙂
@Brittni L.....out of all reptiles, which ones is your favorite, snakes or lizards?....if you don't mind me asking...
they sent literally like prob 1000$ worth of feeders to a friend of ours rescue
Im actually kind of shocked that this thing is cheaper then the company we do not name and is actually a functioning cage. like you'd think if it were cheaper it would be about the same quality as the somehow completely defective cage you got.
*than.
You also shouldn't be surprised. Price is not scaled based on quality
Alex, thanks for the review! Regarding the bottom connector piece, I think it may have gotten loose when you pulled the enclosure apart! You can add a small bit of thread seal tape from a hardware store for $0.99 or we can send a new connector if it’s broken!
Wait you guys have a CZcams? 🤣🤣
Immediately subscribing 🤣
@@usernamedaniedmrg Same 😂
Been looking for a better priced cage this size, and now finally found it! I will be making a purchase soon :)
is there a way to use this tank vertically?
I'm on the waiting list for one. I missed the email last time they came into stock. Hopefully they come into stock soon!
I love brutally honest reviews like this. It makes me trust the product more.
Clearly next you have to try the Custom Reptile Habitat X Leopard Gecko enclosure ☺️☺️. Just remember with the black mesh that you’ll probably need to use a slightly strong UV lamp as black mesh blocks a lot out.
He should try every reptile brand 😀😅
Hello!
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Custom Reptile Habitats, and watching the recent Snake Discovery video, they put together each enclosure before shipping so all the parts should fit.
They look awesome would love to get one but I find them a bit overpriced. I mean I know reptile tanks are expensive as is but still. I'm still getting one nonetheless
@@meowthekitty321 I have the custom reptile habitats 4x2x2 and have zero complaints
hate how companies make pet keeping annoying because theyd rather make the price of their product 20x the price of what it was made from just to kinda persuade people in a way to not buy certain pets because of that price. great video
And at the same time, they’re convincing children to buy those pets because of the bright colors (of some hamster enclosures) and follow their bad care guides.
@@meowthekitty321 Yup. "Iguanas are super cool! You should buy one from us and buy our care kit with our 5000 dollar enclosure that costed 150 dollars to make!". Its annoying. Alot of companies do this with chameleons. Sure, their oretty and unique but they make it look so ez on their websites/stores and make kits that cost hundreds... But in reality, their extremely un hardy and dont live long. We needa support smaller companies that dont do what some mega giants do and support the reliable companies that dont do such things.
Yeah and I feel like I’m reality that doesn’t stop people from getting the actual animal… just getting them the proper setup
Yes! My dad built me a pvc and only spent $125 on stuff to make it, The only company I agree with the high price of our vision cages because of how high-quality they are and how long they will last, my friend has had hers for over 35 years and if she told me she got it last month I would believe her lol
@@Mercedes_may they are such an underrated product
I kind of like how aggressively and not carefully Alex builds it 😆 if you think about it, a lot of random customers are going to just bang it together too, so you can really see how it'll hold up.
It was probably better than zen habitats enclosure because they used protractors while creating it
He’s one of the few people on CZcams who have the guts to give an honest review no matter what
Mine literally just got delivered on Wednesday! I was surprised to see a pvc enclosure so cheap but I took the deal. I think they recommend on the website going in and using silicone on the bottom if you want the enclosure to hold a finer substrate but honestly it looks pretty good without adding anything
Also a 50% of the proceeds get donated to women’s rights organizations for the next three months.
I recently tested this enclosure and I have experience with Zen, Vision, Showcase, Blackbox, Focus, Dragonhaus, ExoTerra, Zilla, ZooMed, Thrive, and Cryptic, and Carolina Custom Cages. I was shockingly pleased with this. I have a Carpet Python in it and so far no complaints, I’m happy with the enclosure and the price is so inexpensive.
Which was the best enclosure you’ve had?
@@alexz3t899 I am happy with Blackbox Cages, Focus Cubed Habitats, Showcase Enclosures, Vision, and the new Zen Meridian but it depends on what I’m housing.
I read it as “ I recently (tasted) this enclosure and I have experience with zen”
Alex: I don’t think I’m that dumb
Also Alex: wearing only one spongebob sock 😂
Ps love ur vids 👍
Was looking for this comment haha
its not a SpongeBobs sock its a anime sock lol haha
@ciabaale it isn't SpongeBob
It’s sailor Venus lol
i was looking for the one sock comment lol
There were a lot of bold decisions made in this video but perhaps none of them bolder than wearing a single Sailor Moon sock. Truly legendary.
I recently just bought this enclosure and it just came in. I am BEYOND happy with it. Everything went together so smoothly, and for someone who has medical issues lifting things- the lightweight was a godsend. My beardie is happier than ever in his new mansion! I bought this enclosure just because of this video, as I’ve been looking for a 4x2! So thank you Alex!
I've had this enclosure for about 6-7 months now and I absolutely love it. Dubia's customer support is amazing too.
I love candid 3 am one sock Alex.
I got mine a couple weeks ago and LOVE them. We had one single handle screw missing. Biggest complaint is the static electricity build up. They attracted every shed hair off three dogs and a cat!!!
I helped put one of these together for someone, and really liked it! Setup was pretty straight forward, and we also sealed around the bottom to prevent any leaks. I can't wait to get one of my own someday soon!
The newer V2 Dubai enclosure comes with the screen top assembled and the screws are black. I didn't reserve directions, but it comes with a small silver door lock that goes in between the overlap of the glass. Mine has been tested by a toddle and passed. I haven't gotten my snake yet. It was really hard to put the sides of the foundation together, but I feel like it's pretty sturdy.
I have one of these enclosures for my bearded dragon and while I am very happy with the price I do have some problems. That middle section where the two glass panes overlaps gets dirty and its almost impossible to clean without disassembling. My bearded dragon also loves to glass surf and because of the metal potruding out form the glass wall his nails were getting cut very short by constantly scratching at it. He started bleeding and all his nails have become extremely short and the vet said to cover the bottom part with felt or paper to minimize this.
I actually bought mine from there a while back and i actually really like it.i paid 180ish i think. It was way cheaper and i wanted to upgrade my rescue beardie really badly. I haven't had any issues with it so far.
I bought one of these months ago and have been too lazy to put it together yet and make space for it haha Good to know that I got a good one :)
I’d definitely recommend this for larger snakes, I keep my adult ball python in a similar enclosure and she seems to thrive in it. It’s a bit big for her but I put in some extra hides and greenery
Thanks for reviewing that enclosure. I've been looking at getting that one because it's the cheapest one I've seen. Good to know that it's not only affordable, but good quality too.
Omg!! I did the same thing with the lid and had to swap it around for my doors 🤣🤣 I use this enclosure for my Bearded Dragon and love it!
I've had my eye on these for awhile this video convinces me, when my animals are a little larger I am gonna grab some.
Your the best company spokesman
Idk why but I find these videos pretty relaxing it’s a good video to watch while just chilling
I’m really glad you’re doing these habitat reviews. I was recently enticed by a sale price on a Paw Hut habitat that was mostly pvc and not suitable for most reptiles.
Thanks for this! I've wanted to redo my reptile rescue's room with one type of enclosure and get rid of the heavy glass ones. I don't like the one Zen Habitat I have and would love to get rid of it. This company was at the top of my list, and I like that they are stackable.
you guys i just got my ball python i’m so excited! she’s my first but i’ve taken care of snakes for years. despite this i’ve watched everyone of goherpings videos because he’s literally so helpful
Glad to know this is a good option. I was thinking of going with Dubia's but I'm glad I've got a good review to reassure me
Literally just put this enclosure together yesterday. Love it.
I got a MUCH more expensive pvc enclosure from a different company and it was pvc on top which ended up being a bad thing. It was holding WAY too much heat like an oven and I ended up having to drill a bunch of 1/2" holes in the top for ventilation. I like the screen top on this enclosure much better!
I like screen tops on enclosures also. At least some screening on top. I know the lotta people like them fully enclosed but I don't.
I was going to get one of these but they sold out almost immediately 😭 I ended up going with Reptizoo and can't complain. Similar assembly, except it's an all glass enclosure.
I have had an Exo Terra 36x18x18 for about a year now, for my leopard gecko. I have about 4-5" of Semi-Arid substrate from Josh's Frogs. I have been leery of ordering PVC enclosures (at least ones in my price range) online and local glass enclosure options are limited. Nice to know that the Dubia choices are likely to be of sufficient quality AND price. I use them exclusively for feeders and have always received good product for a fair price.
I have an enclosure almost identical to this from Symtom. I believe the only difference is the bottom panel is PVC for mine instead of acrylic, and the emblem and logo is different, of course.
How do you like your symptom enclosure? Was shipping crazy expensive?
I’m actually glad I saw this because I was saving up for the Zen habitat enclosures… I mean I always thought they were overpriced, but man does this habitat have better quality
Its 3am and Alex records this video with only one, pretty cool looking, sock on. The vibes are chaotic and we love it.
Maybe he was too tired to put the other sock on?
well now we know what enclosure I'm spending my money on. I also love the sleek black look to it you can put it anywhere and it'll just fit right in
I was seriously considering buying this enclosure for my adult ball python and this video finally convinced me. They seriously need to compensate you for the honesty of this vid, it’s a “”cheap”” enclosure but it’s really well made for the price! Plus they’re stackable so man does that make me want to buy more
Can we get an update on your personal pets Alex?
Ngl these look so nice, I'm impressed by the quality for the price. I might have to consider getting a few of these for my living room, they'd be great for displaying colorful snakes/setups.
i bought this not thay long ago as an upgrade for my beardie and id def say its worth it even tho the instructions are messed up on a few parts and construction can take a hot minute, especially if u mess up on a certain part but would highly recommend especially with how cheap it is
I was so freakin nervous watching this because I had literally just bought one and expect it on the 11th. If you were this positive about it… I’m super excited now lol!! Let’s see if it can handle spray foam and drylock 🤣😂
Im curious if you’ve worked on this yet??
10:04 I love how the cat is just chilling in the background supervising Alex's construction 🐈
The cat is confused about why Alex only has one sock on
I'm stoked you reviewed this! I've been thinking about getting one for my ball python. Thanks!
it's funny you mentioned the corn snake thing because I have been keeping my eye on this enclosure for my adult corn snake but I wasn't sure if it would be secure enough
yeah this seems pretty good to me. oh and a baby corn snake will go right out the gap in between the doors, but yeah. As for the looseness of the joints I get that could be fixed with 2 part apoxy to keep it together, but it would never come apart then
The one sock at 3am doing shit you don't wanna do is such a vibe 😂
Got this enclosure for my BTS coming today and I can't believe it's half the price of the major retail ones and it was so easy to assemble.
Since it's for a blue tongue skink, you could probably try adding in something to use as a substrate shield, and give the blue tongue space to burrow (since you made a mention of the enclosure being too tall.)
EDIT: Added in the content in the parentheses
Good to see im not the only fella who rocks the one sock inside my home LMAO.
Good vids brother, keep up the great work
I bought a PVC enclosure off ebay from some guy that made the kits. it was about $100 more than this one but the PVC was about 1/2 inch thick, tempered glass doors, has that 4 inch strip across the bottom front like this one (PVC black not the clear) but also has a 4 inch strip across the top front and came with a hydrometer and thermometer that mounted in that top part. also didnt have a mesh top but PVC and has these big vented slots on the sides. also came with a light fixture that mounted to the roof of the enclosure. was also put together with screws not just knocked together like this one.
had it about 4 years now, mounted a humidity controller to it for the vicks cool mist humidifier i use to keep the humidity up. the humidity controller is nice it only kicks the humidifier on when it hits certain threshold and back off once the desired humidity is reached. used the enclosure for my indo blue tongue skink, they have a pretty high humidity requirement.
that bottom corner might have become looser from when you had to pull it back apart.
I’ve been thinking about buying a DragonHaus cage for a while now, but they are so incredibly expensive once you start to get into all of the add-ons. This definitely looks like a great alternative!
DragonHaus quality and attention to detail gets a solid F- from me. I will never ever ever order from them again. I drove to their warehouse to pick up a trailer and truck bed full of enclosures. We didn't get everything we ordered, we were charged the wrong amount, the seams were terrible and there were so many intersecting lines. It was just a really bad expererince and really ugly cages. I sold them off at a large loss.
Alex I’m thrilled you are being brutally honest. I will never buy anything again that needs such assembly! To many bad experiences that would leave one traumatized. Companies that really stand by their products should love to have you do a review.
I can’t wait till the one I ordered is shipped and gets here. Hopefully I like it. More importantly hopefully my Bearded Dragon likes it. I rescued him from a family that couldn’t care for him anymore. He was rarely held and his diet was off. We got that corrected and I believe we gave him his first bath he ever had and he absolutely loved it.
I bought that one. It was the cheapest pvc enclosure and I got it quick. I like it so far. I think I paid 229 for mine and if I'm not mistaken it wasn't a shipping cost. I had an issue with that corner too but it was user error.
I was tempted to buy this enclosure though I'm probably going to build my own. I'm concerned that keeping it warm will be difficult with the thin walls.
I have this for my bearded dragon. Love dubia they came in clutch when I rescued my daughters bearded dragon from her dad's house. I thought this would take forever to put together because of it's size but it was super quick
oh is this the one you transported! good job. that was a tough journey. but you did it gracefully
oh this is definitely not as big im silly
I was looking to buy this for the great price and I'm glad you made a review and build on it... I want to put my FWC in there but I'm terribly afraid of him escaping bc he's so skinny and they can flat out and fit anywhere that would be my worst nightmare in my house there's too many places
i bought one of their 4x2x2 when they were on sale and its worked great for me. different branding but definitely same enclosure. even the two tone hammer
Thanks for the honest review . I might have to go with this one
I imagine the mesh screen comes preassembled because inexperienced people are more likely to cut themselves on the wires. The corners of the PVC are obs sharp but far less hazardous to the oblivious.
Right as I noticed 4:20 on the tv, your editor zoomed in on it without any commentary and I cracked up 🤣
Watching for second time before I put my new arrival together. Not that it’s an instructional video per say but still the fact that you didn’t use instructions is the push I need to overcome my “new assembly” anxiety which is even worse than my “he only has one sock on” anxiety - hence my ability to watch that atrocity again.😏
Can I just say. Thank you for recording putting they enclosure together like 90% op people do. Haha. By that I mean not super careful and tiptoeing abound every piece. I love it. And I want this enclosure!
I’m digging the one sock style!
Very interesting video! I've been looking at a Zen Habitat enclosure for my Monkey Tails (they have a brand new line that looks really sleek), but it's good to know there's different brands I can look into as well. I hope you do a follow up with how Olive likes the enclosure.
Luv you 4 the video! I was totally intimidated and my generation are used to the traditional heavy, impossible lifting- back breaking glass! Lol.
I want to upgrade in a large enclosure for my Indonesian BTS!
Glad the instillation is not brain surgery!
Getting a new chair with it being leather this time killed me in trying to get the back cushion installed- plus having hot flashes- being female sux!
Anywho you rocked!!😂
Thanks!🎉
I swear kid you crack me up I watch your videos cause I find you to be so funny entertaining 🤣👍🏼
I love that you called out the haters! You know what? I made 35k for you guys being mad and me making a video! Im with you bro, say what they want and you worry about that paper.
I ended up getting the zen Meridian enclosure a bit ago and honestly it isn’t that bad pretty decent and was super super easy to put together
That’s actually a really nice enclosure. I’ll keep it in mind for if I ever need one that size.
I can’t believe this was only a year ago, I would have never guessed this is what the reptile community would look like rn 😢 Glad you’ve been seemingly doing well tho don’t get me wrong! It’s nice that you’re doing your own thing
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Thank you!
the one sock is killing me 😭😭😭
My sister and mom bought 2 of the zen habitat enclosures and the hole for the door you do have to drill it bigger, I hated putting them together and my mom bought the rock wall for 250 or more and they ended up sending 3 because they kept coming broken in big chunks.
Your review helped me decide to buy one yesterday:)
I really do think you just got unlucky with your Zen Habitats enclosure. I've gotten three 4x2x2's from them and, apart from a few of the corner pieces being hard to get in, they've all been great and easy to put together.
i wanna see you review blackbox cages. they’re my absolute favorite and i spent way too much to specifically get their tanks shipped from georgia to colorado 😬
Thank you for the video. We are currently looking for a habitat upgrade for our son's ball python. I guess I am wondering if you have any ideas on which housing best keeps humidity and warm air in, instead of just escaping out of the top?
Nice video. Love the one Sailor Venus sock ;)
Can you make a 1 years review to see how this has held up?
I really like the look of this enclosure. Great video.
Looks like a good quility encloser much better than the other one. Good review.
I have two of these, one for my beardie and one for the ball python I’m getting at the end of august (: I really like them! I will say, as the instructions recommend, if you’re going to have a more humid or wet substrate, you’ll want to either seal the bottom with silicone or put something else in the bottom to prevent any leaks! All in all though these are my favorite affordable enclosures
What would you suggest to put on the bottom ?
@@rachelmccready44 if you don’t want to seal it with 100% silicone, you can get thick black plastic and lay it down. Just make sure it goes up over the sides a bit so it helps prevent any leaking. Then cover it all with substrate (: that’s what I did
not bad I could get behind this enclosure if i needed one (and if it doesnt take forever to ship idk if it does or not) id get it
Can you make a video on how to heat an enclosure this size I don’t think a heat emoting bulb is going to be enough to keep it warm for my bp can you use radiant heat panels with the lid? Can you use an under the tank heater?
I like that only the front is transparent. Good for the animals.
I have one question! When you are doing background for vivarriums how do you get rid of the silicon smell.
Thanks for the review....what's with the one sock. Although the huge cat lizard was really pretty.
This entire review was so much chaos! One sock on, on sock off! Definitely a better enclosure than Zen though! And the moment you cut up the QR code, i KNEW you'd regret it later! lol! Nice video!
Also, that loose corner won't matter if you seal all the seems with silicone.
Thanks for keeping me company while I eat my dinner alone. Gotta love having covid
Coming from the salt water reef world I have been absolutely APALLED at what companies are charging for enclosures. Finally a quality product at a fair price.
How do you feel about this enclosure now? What type of reptile do you have in it? I'm wanting something different for our ball python but not sure about the screen top on this.
Way, way better looking than Zen Habitats. I think I found my next enclosure!! Thanx!!
I’m sorry but the single sailor moon sock is sending me into orbit
Definitely getting this for when I upgrade my snake, it looks so nice.
For some reason I didn’t get the notification to papa Alex’s new sustenance for his children
Cute… boy
