  • The Nassau Community College campus in Uniondale is suddenly without any cafeteria, cafe or snack bar, leaving vending machines as the only option for 12,000 students. As CBS New York's Carolyn Gusoff reports, critics say college administrators should have been better prepared.

Seems like a golden opportunity for anyone in the food truck business.

So the school admin doesn't understand that a business that doesn't make money, can't survive?

When I was in grade school I managed to pack a lunch, snacks and drinks for the day. This is a commuter school, no one lives on campus.... they're acting as if none of these adults who are attending college are capable of packing a lunch, snacks and drinks for the day? Really?

  • @SouthernRaisedAtheis

if only someone made a box you could put your lunch in

The vending machine owner is rolling in money right now

School’s Admin didn’t renew the contract for food service with Compass. An RFP takes month’s of planing and negotiation it doesn’t happen over night. In the end school admin didn’t want to pay up and didn’t want to hire another food service contractor.

“It’s really unconscionable.” Lighten up Francis! It is an inconvenience.

Do people not understand how to bring food from home? Seriously, how do these people function?

  • @rlbrown-js9ns

    It's a food desert, you can't find food for 400 yd.😂😂

  • @asianrainer

    bring your own food...

  • @jacobt1045

Yeah, that sucks, but maybe, just maybe, bring your own lunch from home.

  • @navajojohn9448

Is there a business school in the college? They should probably review the contracts before management signs them.

Prices for food vendors need to be profitable for the owners

The incompetence on the part of this school's financial administration glares like a neon headlight. The video revealed no discussion of the school's budget nor how the money is allocated. If this is typical administrative behavior at that school, then it's not long for this world.

  • @AlexDanielCPhT

Here's a radical thought: Make your own lunches and notice how much cheaper it is than buying lunch from a cafeteria.

  • @jamesdagmond

Why does a college have a vendor overseeing their food service in the first place? They should take some initiative and run their own food service.

  • @avagrego3195

Not a hardship, Bring lunch, drinks, and snacks from home.

  • @kim.jong.skillz

    This is absolutely on administration.

  • @PhonyBalagna

    "Lack of planning and competency"

I remember going there 20 years ago. They had Pizza Hut, Nathan's, Friendly's, and Taco Bell.
