each person in the video is dealing with a different monster, the lead singer's monster is his past addictions, the little girl her monster is her grandfather and her being abused. the widow's monster is her guilt, she cheated on her husband when he got recalled overseas and then he got killed. Check out more like Enemies, Get Up, Follow you down, and 45 just for starters. the little girl is the widows daughter, grandfather is widows dad, and guy she cheated with is a brother-in-law

I’ve been in recovery since Jan 21, 2015 and I remember the first time I heard this driving in my car on my lunch break. That chorus hit and I was like “YESSSSS!!! SAME!!! 👏🏼🙌🏼” 😂 Like my monsters literally tried to kill me daily for about 10+ years. And even though I’m in recovery and sober today, those bastards are back there doing jumping jacks waiting for me to slip up. This song def has a deep meaning for me.

Congrats! As a recovered heroin addict I know what that nightmare is like. Lierally all my friends are dead and I am dead in the eyes of the family I have left. I dug myself out of debt little by little, it took years. I still am. It gets better, much better, my friend. Keep your head up !Never forget the struggle and those we have hurt. This song Brent said was about mental illness and dealing with the daily issues that mental illness projects on people. Great song love this.
I wasn't big into Shinedown, but they really made some great songs in their heyday, and they crushing with their comeback album/song.

I love this song and can definitely relate. I've been fighting ptsd for 18+ years and I'm only 28. Tried suicide numerous times including my most recent attempt last week. It's a hard battle but as of now I haven't lost yet
Also I want to add that I believe the little girl and the grown woman are the same person. I know it's a weird thought but when the little girl was in the confession booth she didn't walk out but instead seemed like she turned into an adult but that's just me

Brent said his monsters are his drug & alcohol addiction. The whole album of Attention Attention was it started out with songs like these but ends the album on a up beat & happy note. Your down and angry & hurt in the beginning but you make it through & kept fighting & the end is happy song, definitely a roller coaster of emotions they take you on.

How I took the video, the woman cheats on her husband kills him. The little girl is her little sister and she was abused as a kid too by the dad which caused her to be numb and eventually a murderer.

There is ALOT of that behavior that happens - especially if there are girlfriends and wives without kids. Sometimes...there are kids involved. I am a soldier AND a military spouse. Its an unfortunately regular occurrence.
Then you should listen to .45 by Shinedown. Talks pretty much about the same thing and is a great song.
If you like this one and the message, you should react to "Demons" by Imagine Dragons. However, I have been binging your videos so maybe I will eventually see that you did do that video. She's the little girl that man is her husband's best friend and because she's so screwed up she's messing with him and when he finds out he takes himself away from life

She is not the little girl. The little girl has her own monsters, which is the point of the video that we all regardless of age ect. Have monsters we deal with.
Was the little girl the spouse? Girls that are molested sometimes take part in risky behaviors because of the monsters they live with.
