- My rosemary and lavender olive oil is finally done infusing! So I gave my skin and hair a little extra pampering this week. Also, I know people get really excited about fall every year ... but I'm not quite ready!! We're having a heatwave here in upstate New York ... and I'm not sad about it!
Normally I don't enjoy heat at all. But after a summer that just didn't feel like a real summer ... I decided to take advantage of every last bit of this little summer bonus before fall settles in. That has meant spending lots of time in the garden here at the cottage as well as some other fun activities like attending a polo match and floating down the scenic Delaware River. It was a lovely few days and I'm feeling extra grateful for them.

Before we got our first dog, I read a dog book that said to give puppies bits of vegetables and they will grow up loving them. Then you can uses pieces of carrots, green beans, etc. as treats and know you're keeping them healthier. Our dogs have always loved vegetables (carrots in particular) and fruit. Our current elderly blind & deaf and physically weakening dog, who has very little pleasure in his life, loves his morning pieces of banana. It's the high point of his day.

I'm so glad your infused oil worked out well. 😊 I tend to buy avocado or apricot kernel oil and just put drops of essential oil in it like geranium, rose and patchouli (good for my aging skin and hair😅). It was fun to see you so happy and enjoying the last bits of summer. ❤
Btw, I mentioned to you before that I love your lace curtains and have been looking for some. Well, a local thrift store had a vintage event (alas! I could not find a dress) and I found 2 lace curtain panels. Yay!

It has been unbearably hot in Ontario, Canada. I am not a fan of the heat but, your garden, sure, loved it. That was a good crop!

I detest summer - it’s my biggest hate in life-always has been and will remain so. I am 71 years and have MS and summer and my body do NOT do well, especially when it’s humid….so, bring on Fall and Winter and Spring . Love you’re videos- they cheer me up…especially when I am having a moan about heat (as I am today, in the UK, whilst we go through a week of an unusual September heatwave). 😵💫. I am the archetypal moaning old woman right now 😂 and seeing the peaceful scenes in your videos and listening to what you have been doing in life always cheers me. Always look forward to your videos. In Canada we call it 'tubing' down the river as we sit on inner tubes from the big earth mover trucks...it is very relaxing and enjoyable and lots of laughs with good company. I don't blame Charlie for wanting seconds with those green beans..they looked delicious! I am Celtic and I also do not do well in the heat. Have been hiding out in the air conditioning on hot summer days on the west coast. Enjoy the last days of summer!

Hi Kate and Charlie. We finally got some very much needed rain in the DFW area of Texas. We had some pretty good thunderstorms. Monet , my lil dog went crazy barking at the thunder. It had been so long since we had rain and thunderstorms, it freaked her out. So I held and reassured her that it would be ok and she calmed down. The temperatures here have been brutal. It got up to 110 one day! I think we are out of the woods now and there shouldn't be anymore over 100. It looked like so much fun when you went floating down the river. I love to watch ducks little feet paddle under the water and hear them quack! Heck, I just love being out in nature but it's just been so hot! I loved watching Charlie eat his green beans. So cute!! And then seeing him lie on his back was just adorable. The leaves turning colors are so beautiful there. When I was a kid, I remember putting a leaf under a plain piece of paper and coloring back and forth on the paper get the imprint of the leaf. Gee, I hadn't thought about that in years! Kate, I hope you and Charlie enjoy the cooler weather and the beautiful color of the trees and foliage turning. Monet says, hi Charlie! I love you guys! Vivian & Monet from Texas! ☺️

I'm thrilled that you were able to go and do some fun things, and floating down the river was particularly joyful. I too have not had what feels like a summer to me for various reasons, so I'm taking some time to go up into these gorgeous mountains we have here in Utah, listening to live music and going on little walks to take in the wonderful fresh, crisp air, the beautiful aspen and pine trees and the last of the wild flowers still in bloom. I can definitely feel fall in the air when I'm up there - the elevation can sometimes mean it's 20 degrees cooler than what it is in the valley. I'm loving the light here as well, savoring it as we head into the fall equinox. Lots of love to you and Charlie 💖

My mid-western city is always hot/humid all summer, but this Aug was the hottest month on record! A couple days agothe high heat broke....everything is parched so it won't be the best autumn colors. Great tip about the lip/chapstick, thanks. Charlie just keeps getting more charming!

Hi! I worked in an olive oil store for several years. In order to keep all the amazing properties of olive oil it is best to store in containers that are not clear. The light that shines through deteriorates the olive oil. I bet your infusion smells amazing!

Lovely video. Floating on a river looks fun. We have extremely unseasonal heat here in London and I am trying not to complain but it's humid heat so most Londoners are grumpy and can't function! I'm just swapping 🥵emojis with friends all day. 90 degrees tomorrow and no breeze. Okay so apparently I am complaining 😂

Great video. I use Jojoba oil infused with essential oils and I apply it after I showew and BEFORE I dry off. I learned to pat my body with a paper towel to absorb most of the oil then continue to dry off with my towel (believe me the towel will not get rancid this way lol).
Then after dry I use body lotion and voila, hydrated for the day. Cheers

It sure has been a long, hot humid summer here in upstate New York and this girl is beyond ready for the cool, crisp days of fall🍁🌻🍁. My body doesn’t do well in the heat either so makes it hard to enjoy summer. Looks like you had an awesome time!

Otis get strawberries and blueberries when we come in from our walk every day. He also gets green beans mixed in with his kibble for his last meal. It cuts down on the kibble and he just loves his green beans. If I can’t get fresh I get canned with no salt added. He is going to be 7 in January and he is at a very healthy weight. I give him a probiotic mixed in his morning meal. Let’s just say he is a healthy tenacious Cairn Terrier, my little man… I feel the same way. We are having temperatures in the 90 ‘s this last week …even though I hate the hot humidity it is the last hurrah in Massachusetts.
Aw, otis! He is eating such a good diet!!!!!!!! He doesn't know how good he has it! I've never tried canned beans for Charlie ... I'll have to give it a try once the fresh runs out. He's not that picky, lol, so I bet he'll love them! I hope you guys have a wonderful week!❤❤❤

Beautiful vlog. Glad you got to go down the river in your raft. What brand was the raft it looked amazing! Growing up in the 1970s in the UK as. Teenager, we used old lorry inner tubes on our canals and as a 61 year old, they are still great memories ❤
