Pierre, what you encountered in Darjeeling was any other hill down with a pedestrian zone, like Shimla, Manali, Mussoorie, which turned out to be underwhelming for your explorer spirit. Perhaps, you needed to drive out to the outskirts to experience the wide vistas of tea plantations unique to Darjeeling. I wish Tenzing would have guided you about that to make your experience about the town more wholesome.
Chandanagar in west bengal was a French colony and i definitely feel that you have some connection with India. You never know your ancestors may have lived there 150 years ago. 😀😀. Any way super Blog and your drone shots were outstanding.
Hey Frenchie, what you ate in Dekevas was not local food. That's korean food and we usually only get that in restaurants. Our food is basically the same as sikkim's, i.e., momos and thukpas, plus other local snacks and stuff. Glad to see that you enjoyed my place.
He did get Thukpa & got d taste of how d recent global phenomenon of Korean culture has also influenced India, specially prevalent among d youths of NE.

You should visit more remote places (village) seven sisters which we call off beat places . I hope you will like it. As a subscriber we want you to explore our seven sisters like you did in Himachal.
Right now the traffic and the pollution are the major problems of darjeeling. I totally agree that it may not be your cup of tea. But there are still some very good places with good views that you can visit while in Darjeeling.

Good to actually see darjeeling, it was foggy the whole 3 days i spent there in march 1991 so didn't get to see the place or the views, thanks frenchy. It's expanded & moderised a lot since then as expected.
the weather is bad throughout the year, except during winter. It gets freezing cold but the weather will be clear and sunny mostly from October onwards. Otherwise, it's basically monsoon for the rest of the year
Yes. Pierre. Most of the Indians who have visited Darjeeling would concur with you. West Bengal is a huge state and hence the mismanagement is obvious as Darjeeling is far from mainland WB. Sikkim, Ladakh, Goa etc are smaller states and hence, most of the places there, are in order. The chaos that you noticed is the major reason why it is no longer a popular Hill station for us.
