I agree the rocks & few things do look better on new hd ducer. But overall for guys already have 3n1 & live units. I don't think it would be worth spending coin for upgrading unless you just have money to burn. Just one video worth of footage isn't enough to make absolute decision either. I guess with all hype I had my hopes up more. & Was expecting a bigger improvement. All brands have good side & down imaging. I don't think you can go wrong with any brand these days.. I'll stick with my echomap ultra 106sv I got for $752 on sale. A 10" Lowrance or bird is 2800 tax!
Will you be comparing 455 kHz AI SideScan with the 455 HD CHIRP? Also, I really want to see how much of an improvement there is with 700 and 1200 kHz HD DownScan. AI DownScan fixed at 600 kHz was garbage with terrible bottom detail.
the chirp and mega hz frequency could be the difference in marking fish and not marking them. If you are just looking for structure and not fish, maybe it's not worth the upgrade to you.
I guess the cost of the hd is certainly a question since it’s not just buying a transducer. It’s either buy a hds pro which are currently $1000 more than hds live and anyone with fs elites and/or HDS live units would need the S3100 module. Just from reading basic descriptions from Lowrance you can hook up 2 transducers to the S3100 module. I would think this would make sense for someone running side scan HD front and back and any 2 screens are gonna be cheaper than the hds pro units. Though I could see a pro up front if you want to run 2 active target 2 units. To go further in the mud and my view where I’m not making money from fishing, I like side scan for structure and I want to get active target on the ghost to target specific fish but I’ve never seen the need for side scan up front but in shallow stuff I’ve always assumed my big motor is disturbing the fish much more than a trolling motor would though reality might differ. And that’s why I’ll probably end up with a 3 in 1 nose cone up front. If HD was a $200 upgrade it would make sense but this is well over $1k and for someone building their electronics over time, I will certainly be acquiring other electronics before I go with hd transducers and modules or pro units. This video does really help in this regards to me. What I do love about these upgrades is that it really cuts the cost down some for those of us on a budget.
When you did this test, did you ever try to run them both at the same time? What TM do you have on the bass boat - Ultrex? Any interference seen on sidescan with the TM? On the "hotter" feedback you are noticing, my recent experience is that the higher up in frequency you go, the less hot, or bright the returns are. So, the 800kHz showing "hotter" than 1075kHz makes sense to me. This really shows up when the contrast on 455kHz (PRO/HD 3in1) is set for best sharpness and then switching to 1075kHz. Also, just to be clear, you are not using the S3100 box on the PRO, correct?
Upgrade for Live HDS cost 1400 USD (sonar+box) …Sorry, i do not see so big difference between old and new. More better is to feel the money in wallet :)
@@RussellMarineProductsLLC ohh man, you guys are awesome! I'm looking forward bto that tomorrow. I just seen you posted the HD 3n1 vs mega SI. About to watch that. You guys do the best comparison vids for electronics! They have absolutely helped me decide what I ended up going with. I've been extremely happy with the ultra 106sv & LVs34 system for my Hobie PA12 360! It's a killer set up & with all sales I saves some serious coin!
So I just got a used hds liv from you guys. If I got a pro and the hd transducer with it. Can I network it with my live unit and utilize that transducer on the live unit? I only have 2 units. 1 st the bow and 1 at the console
Been said many times, thanks for doing this, however, no excuse for not running both at the exact same time instead of making multiple passes. Use the trolling motor to travel a recorded pass if you don’t want to run both at the same time. It’s just not that hard when you have all the resources you have to do a better job of these comparisons. Not to mention the different settings with one being so much hotter than the other.
Hi, do you know up to how many meters deep the new active imaging HD works with the module s3100 in side scan?? Because the old active imaging 3 in 1 works until to 50-60 meters deep in side scan.
I have two HDS12 Carbon units. If I purchase the HD nosecone for the Ghost, will that work and will I get the HD performance with down and side imaging with fish reveal?
These units are most likely worth the money for those that can afford it but the majority of fisherman cannot anymore. Good video otherwise. Guess I will keep dreaming for purchasing one when they become discontinued like usual.

Honestly, I think the original 3 in 1 looks better! Turn down the contrast 2 notches and it would be the same. Not worth upgrading in my opinion.
I agree, lots of comments on it being hotter. Turn it down and compare
After seeing that I think I will be sticking with my Carbons and SS3d

I'd love to see some comparisons in 30-80' of water looking 200-300' out to the side.

Hopefully you guys do a direct comparison of the 3&1 HD vs the GT56. I would like to see that!!!
it'll be on here tomorrow sir!!

Does the 3100 module use chirp on the 360 view as well as side and down scan on the hd?
will stay with my carbon's....connected to my ghost with 3n1. Need something more than that to change my game plan.
Which transducer is best for carbon with 3d module

are you using the s3100 hd module with the hd transducer?
WhIch HD transducer? Med/High or High/Wide?

Couldn't you just adjust the contrast down on the 3 in one?
Are they being run on the same frequency?
You guys still going to compare the new HD 3n1 vs GT56?? Im pretty sure the Lowrance will be better just curious to see the difference
Yes. That video is up and ready for your viewing pleasure!
I have hds unit will it work with HD active image?
Why don't you guys talk about motor guide tour trolling motor ?
2:00 Where is bridge shadow? :D
How does it compare to the 3d structure scan side imaging
I have two HDS12 Carbon units. If I purchase the HD nosecone for the Ghost, will that work and will I get the HD performance with down and side imaging with fish reveal?
You would need the S3100 module to read that transducer and get fish reveal on side scan.
Will this work with Simrad NSS Evo3s?
The 3n1 looks way better. I run my electronics hot.

This slight of a difference doesn’t justify the price
Garmin, raymarine and humminbird are still wayyyyyyy better than this.
