MatPat, the moment you asked “did I do enough”…my fear is I won’t be able to do enough to show you what your time, energy, and work has meant to me. I don’t have a platform so all I can do is say thank you. Sharing your time and passions with us has created such joy. I am so grateful. GtLive is what my husband and son watch when they get up in the morning. It helped my husband and son bond. You are one of the few things my son can say (he doesn’t talk much, but he knows MatPat and he knows to ask for it when he wants time with his dad). Seeing the amazing things you have already accomplished shows me the type of person I hope I raise my son to be. You have absolutely left your mark on this platform, but even more than that, on this world. So I guess, at this point, all I can say is thank you. Thank you for your hard work and endless hours. I am happy that you're still here at GTLive. It means this isn't goodbye. It's just letting someone else take the spotlight on the other channels. You had an amazing run and made such a difference in so many lives.
As I was homeschooling my youngest your videos were often used as applied science and mathematics. Fun things they could watch and talk about to see why it's important to learn science and mathematics. I think it's a big part of why all my kids are so in love with learning.
They would put your videos on repeat to fall asleep to. They would plan their schedules around your charity lives so they could watch you, even giving me some of their own money asking me to donate it to you. You taught them so many important things. I have enjoyed it as much as they did. Thank you so much.

You know, I've always found it really cool just how many different topics your channels have covered and all of the ways you've helped out across CZcams and beyond. But I think this video, more than anything else, cements to me how good a person you are and how much of a positive influence you've been. To see all of the work you've done over the years. To get a glimpse of how many people you've helped and all of the lives you've impacted. And more than that, to see how much you care about it. To see how emotional you got about whether you've done enough. You are a real life superhero Matpat. The "have I done enough" bit just breaks my heart; you're one of the most influential people on this platform. I've had real life friends exclaim "that's just a theory: a game theory!" Not many people are as widely recognized. It's more surprising to me when I learn someone doesn't know who you are than when they do. If that's not enough of a contribution to our culture, then it's not possible to do enough.
Mattpatt is one of THE most influential people in Modern History.
My 8 year old child has said “theory? A game theory??” I already know where he got it from.
I started watching Matpat with film theory and watched food & style theory after that. It was film theory when I realized I wasn't alone in thinking certain things about movies. Matpat you have indeed done enough and it is ok for you to retire and not be the main face anymore. You need to learn to separate yourself from a busy schedule and always needing to done something and just learn to relax. It might not be easy but with Stephanie & Ollie by your side, YOU GOT THIS 🫡
My father stole one of my game theory backpacks to use for his work stuff. He’s a social worker with a lot of neurodivergent children- and the way he’s been able to bond with some of his clients because they’ll go “is that game theory!?!?”
I didnt find game theory till aroubd 2019 but he saved me in my farkest time. Mat and I are the same age (both '86 babies) and his vontent got me through some of my darkest moments. I just cant thank him enough for being the person he is (esp as we both transition into things)
Matt, you have done so much more than enough that it's staggering. You and Steph will forever be my favorite CZcamsrs, and just all around some of my favorite "people that i don't personally know but respect"
I'm so grateful to have gotten to watch you these past 13 years and I'm so excited for wherever this next chapter takes you. You deserve all the best out of life, because you're not just one of the good ones, you're one of the BEST ones

I have followed matt pat since highschool, retiring is a bittersweet moment for me. I am going to really miss you bud. You changed my life in many positive ways. You are the legend! Feels way to surreal to saying goodbye because your like my last bit of childhood.

I've been here with you since the original intro. I remember how happy I was for you when you announced the new additions (the channels as well as Oliver). I've watched you do SO much good for the community.

My comment is gonna get buried but I didn't care. I'm sitting here crying so much and felt the need to say you've done more than enough. You've helped me through breakups and a divorce, being away from home, losses in my life, and you've still made me wanna be better and honest to who I am, a better theorist, and in general a better person. I'm literally so distraught it feels like Lenard Nemoys passing again but I keep reminding myself it's so you can be a better person for your family and take care of yourself, something that you more than deserve. I still hope I get to meet you one day.
