Wait how come men only get drafted I thought women were strong and independent?
Idk
Strange
They probably will draft women this time cause of gender equality
Because Gender Equality wasn't as advanced the last time there was a draft. Sexism is not a good look on you all.
Because they haven't changed the laws. Women have been falling over themselves to get into fighting roles since the war for independence. Women aren't the issue here
If there ever is a draft, rich people and politician's families should be the first to join and be deployed. I'm not dying for someone who is not willing to risk anything.

If we did have a draft, I think the US would have to split draftees into 2 camps. One camp would be for people who are ready to be trained for combat. The other camp would have to be for people who are overweight and need to get into shape.
They already kinda have that now lol. When I went through basic they called it âFat Campâ it wasnât actually about weight more specifically your physical readiness. If they felt you werenât physically ready at either the beginning or end of basic they kept you back to do more training.
Might of well give the disabled or old men guns to tanks then đ

@@chrischandler889 pretty easy. You destroy all entertainment/public order buildings. Then you move your army out, wait for them to revolt then you come in with an extermination order.

Lots of spouses cheat while the other half is gone. Lots of deployed soldiers cheat while deployed. If you/yours aren't in that category then good for you but using something was arbitrary as that as grounds to not volunteer for service is as disingenuous and laughable as wanting "a GI Bill that can get you a home and a business". The GI Bill pays for school so it's on you too pick something better than underwater basket weaving or gender studies. You can also take classes while on active duty but if course your chosen job may not give you the most time for it so choose wisely. Also, if you die you won't need VA healthcare.
If you don't want to volunteer it's fine but use better arguments than these or just be honest and say "it's not my thing".
@@politicallyinsensitive4200 I also don't think a draft is great since the benefits aren't so good, and morally it's likely to just be an excuse to pump money into a select few corporations. The govt constantly covering up war atrocities doesn't help in the modern sense for the USA either. The nation does have alot of education puffery about doing the right thing after all. If a war was truly meaningful, such as defense against an existential threat, they wouldnât need a draft.
Keep in mind those aren't my personal opinions. Even today you find veterans who fought in wars they didn't believe in just in the hopes they could have a better life afterwards. Learn some skills and discipline have college and health insurance. If they died it would still be better than wandering through life aimlessly, in their eyes.
Yet even with that you can see the troop count for Iraq and Afghanistan wasn't nearly as concentrated as other wars.
Yea they would.
Unless we are invaded (which will never happen, and this channel did a video explaining why), you will never get me to go fight in a war. We've already lost thousands of soldiers in POINTLESS wars overseas. And anyway, our current military, with its overblown budget, is perfectly capable of defending this country from invasion. And even then, even if it couldnt, we have allies that would send troops and equipment. THAT would happen long before any draft.
why do you think there destroying California because thats where they are gonna let china land
Iâve thought for years that dismantling our manufacturing capabilities in the name of âprofitâ was dumb. It is a national security issue but American companies are glad to sell IP and technologies for a quick buck at the expense of national security. This should have been and should be criminal. Allowing so much manufacturing to leave was also a mistake and again for a quick buck and should have been and be criminal. Also, when a huge war does start the children of the rich should be the first sent to the front lines since they usually try to use money and creativity to stay out when other families donât get to pay their way out and create excuses to avoid a draft.
But muh capitalism and free market
Like how Chinese manufacturers like Huawei have technology in and or around all ICBM sites or communication towers or power distribution systems related to them. Makes a guy wonder...
just like the tarot card and many other empires this is the tarot. Fast quickened gains over long term renewables and development. False success that eventually leads to a terrible Fall happened in 1930s caused rome sparta and assyria to fall as empires also Babylon according to some records
That's the expense of a free market and a for profit system in most companies because that's how they grow and get rich
I think 3 years of military service should be mandatory for anyone, man or woman, who wants to be a citizen of this country, and enjoy all of the rights afforded to American citizens.

I think if the safety of our country, not its interests(gas, oil, etc) in other countries, but if the threat of an invasion was high, most Americans would join. But if our leaders wanted to invade another country then its likely that lotta Americans wouldn't want to join cuz at this point many of us grew up with the War in Afghanistan much of our lives and we're very much more informed about global issues that we don't wanna rush into another Afghanistan/Vietnam type of war. If our leaders want oil and gas but uses the guise of the safety of the country/democracy then let them fight for it. But if the threat of an invasion of our country was high then many Americans would be willing to fight
We are a Republic
Good point, I think many people would join if it was a true cause. No one wants to be drafted for someone else's profit margins.
Our country want for oil n gas is the reason why we dominate... we kno every countries pressure point.
Yeah, many Americans would be willing to fight...against other Americans. See, there's a reason why ancient Israel made a big deal out of ensuring that property was passed down generationally. Because doing so meant that every citizen would have a vested interest in protecting their land. Now, how many Americans own land, vs. how many just rent? More importantly, how easy is it to access purchasing land, without an innumerable amount of laws, rules, and regulations being hung over your head? Lastly, how many of them have fulfilling work, and aren't just working because they are debt slaves?
Do you, uh, see a problem? Naw, I'm sure the massive drops in employees, the rising suicide, crime, mass shooting statistics, loss of trust in media, scientific, and academic institutions doesn't mean ANYTHING.
@@TarsonTalon only Americans willing to fight other Americans are right wing nut jobs đ lol. They're the ones calling for civil war against the Left. Other than that, majority of Americans don't want war. And the whole land ownership u just mentioned, most Americans are free to move to different states, and if they plan to live in that State they can easily register in that state so in the event of an invasion or whatever majority of Americans will be willing to fight for their country. Lotta vets who fought for USA đșđž never had land or private properties and they still don't hence lotta homeless veterans in the country. N having private properties does not always ensure loyalty as most private property owners will be more likely to want peace with enemies rather than lose their properties in war with the enemies. Look at WWI onwards, most enlisted people were of poorer class while rich people were more likely to get deferments from joining the military. Don't throw your fellow Americans under the bus bcuz of all the "culture war" going on. I could imagine all the gen z temper tantrums if drafting was reinstated
I have no problem going to fight but I have an issue being demanded to give my life for something that I might or might not believe in or want to do. The whole life, liberty and pursuit of happiness thing is completely contrary to the draft. I guess that's the US's biggest issue is we have so many freedoms that to force anything is directly against ours base laws set to protect us. It's a double edged sword but I feel like the government should still respect that and more and more it seems like they don't. Idk I'm just a guy thinking.
Liberty requires sacrifice of blood. It is your American duty to serve your country in the time of need. The draft is not against American values at all.
In the military itâs a job you do what youâre told and no one really cares how you âfeelâ about why youâre there. Youâre there to do a job.
However no one has a right to benefit off the the sacrifice of others..all MUST PULL THEIR OWN WEIGHT!
The thing about the Draft is that is more of a last resort kind of deal.
They'd much prefer volunteers, as they historically perform better, are more reliable, and are not heckled by other servicemen for their classification of "draftee" or "Volunteer".
However, if we're faced with a threat beyond our current strength, or anticipate a long, drawn out war of attrition, a draft is necessary.
All the freedoms you enjoy are put at risk if the army is widdled down and nothing is done to bulster it quickly.
Besides, we rebelled against an Empire over taxes, but we still pay those.
Sometimes being a member of something means having to do things for it you don't like.
@@iliadnetfear2586 You just explained the whole premise of a draft. Yeah, that's a pretty baseline idea that this video literally talked about. That has nothing to do with my point. My point wasn't arguing if the draft may be necessary, my argument was forcing us to fight is at its core un-American. I think we all understand that if America disappears or goes under new control so goes are rights, basic concept, new parents new rules. My angle is purely from a legal perspective. Pointing out that our unalienable rights aren't unalienable, only so at the allowance of the establishment. Just like Covid when they took are freedom to travel, social media can take our freedom of speech or press, like a guy smoking weed in the wrong state can get his liberty taken, the government can take our "unalienable right" to life. There's just some mental gymnastics that is involved in justifying government overreach that let you know that those rights aren't actually rights but privileges that apon a governmental decision can be taken without apprehension. I'm from a swing state and I have friends from both sides, I just see how one will get the power and try to punish the other and with the ability to bypass or misrepresent those rights the government has the ability to do whatever they want. Be it limit guns or abortion, there's tons of examples that I can keep going on.
Yeah, weight wouldnât count you out of a draft. Too many tattoos wouldnât count you out. Certain health issues would not count you out. Certain past criminal charges would no longer count you out. Certain judges would be given powers to give first time offenders ultimatums, either jail or army. A lot of them would probably choose army. During a draft, thereâs no way youâd be able to dodge it today.
As an ex-intelligence officer, I'd volunteer in a heartbeat if they could use my expertise. As a 67 year old, I've kept myself in shape and could easily pass Basic Training and OCS physical requirements.

I would Academies set up which will act like High schools. If you can't afford to go to a private high school, you go to a academy at the age of 15. Which will give you both academic & occupational training but all so military training. Once the student has finished his / her time at the academy at the age of around 18, they will automatically be enrolled in to a 2 year national service program as active military members.
Smaller nations need populations at least minimally trained in territorial defence, logistics, and non combat support roles, just to be able to front up an adequate resistance to a larger invader. But conscripts (people forced into service) should never be used for live combat theatres as their morale is far too fragile.
The goal should be to train recruits to a point they have the required attitude,
fitness and training where they could be mobilised quickly if the nationâs territory was invaded. Along with this would be territorial defence and logistics forces, made of local paid part time volunteers.
While a professional volunteer military remains still the best choice for a well trained force with high morale, a general population trained to be capable of contributing to a war that they can then volunteer for when needed is a valuable state asset. As is a network of local based well trained territorial defence and logistics forces that compliment and work alongside the professional military servicemen/women, freeing them from non-combat roles.

Thank you for this informative video. I always wondered how wartime veterans who are now civiiians would be considered if this was to ever happen in 21st century America. According to this, we would be 4A due to being prior service, correct? Please correct me if I'm wrong people. (11 years USA, 2 OIF, 1 OEF)
Thanks

I really doubt nuclear weapons will ever be used in war because just because their is a war doesnât mean your gonna launch your nukes at least at civilians their is a possibility of Russia using tactical nukes but I doubt they will do that because of escalation war isnât that bad compared to nukes

As for the draft, if I get drafted I would just do some heavy drugs so they wouldn't accept me đ€Ł
At 11:35 they FINALLY get to the answer of "Could You be Drafted to Fight in World War 3?"
Thanks
Thank you
Speaking as a Regular in the US Army mos 11-Bravo Viet Nam era, that's Infantry Rifleman for you civilian types, WWIII is going to be about nukes and smart bombs from missiles and aircraft, not ground warfare.
I totally agree. I feel like it will matter more on technology, not troops numbers.
You'd be surprised on the number of scenarios we had in play while I served, I've been out 15 years, positive the scenarios haven't changed much since today's worst threats were expected then.
no its going to be aircraft and naval warfare. Nukes will be the last thing to fly since they'll be launched by whoever is losing and about to be overrun.
I applied in highschool, I was considered(paraphrasing) "too crazy for even them"
What with my generalized anxiety
If they have a draft I don't think anyone would show up
yeah, i know i wont show up, i don't want to fight for a country that's not gonna appreciate me, or discriminate me for the way i was born
Lol @ the Edgar in the thumbnail đ
I don't think I'm eligible to be drafted. I want it to stay that way.
Nope. I already served years in the USN. I'm now 62 years old so not worried about the draft.
My dad served as a blimp and jet pilot in Weeksville, North Carolina. It was for seven years. ZP1 Squadron. He later confided his biggest regret was not staying with the USN for twenty years. I was a kid at the time. It was a wonderful life and we had he most marvelous, kind friends in the Navy. A Class act. Circa 1955, when I was born.

It's very simple: the moment war is declared, conscription will be instituted and made mandatory. Every able man is with his own being obligated to defend his country in time of war, no questions asked. Drafting, or conscription, has come and gone as the situation demands it.
I think autism and having to take pills for things like anxiety and really bad anger issues gives me a draft exemption.

With my boys coming into draft age while I'm in my late 30's early 40's I would probably try to get a waiver to enlist. My back ground has been engineering and heavy construction which should help with getting into the Seabees
If there is a ww3..... don't worry you'd probably have to be mid 50s to have a chance of not getting drafted because of age...... you're going pal, you don't need waiver.
@@kurtrussell5228 I would be able to due to my line of work with transmission lines or go back to my oil and gas back ground. Nothing runs without power and that's where I have found my niche

Youre trying to rationalize the government. Thats a big mistake.
I have been to the war zone while in the military, once as a contractor, now I'm too old to be sent anywhere but my rocking chair.
Smart weapon manufacturing relies on our ability to obtain semiconductors. 80% of the semiconductors used to build electronics in the United States come from Taiwan.
If China takes Taiwan we canât rearm after depletion of our smart bombs and other weaponry.
Covid made the supply lines so backed up that weâre still waiting on parts ordered 2 years ago.
Domestic production of semiconductors isnât slated to begin until 2025-26 and then these new manufacturing plants will need to go through a proofing period of 2 years prior to companies like Raytheon allowing their suppliers to begin running production units with these components.
Semiconductors are needed for Playstations not weapons.
@@theschmedaparadox1018 the guidance systems in most air to air rockets rely on parts from Taiwan my dude. We modify and assemble them in the US, but we need the actual basic part first.
This is the whole reason this manufacturing should have been here. Why would I fight for such a short sighted nation with short term, greedy leaders?
Wouldâve loved to serve in the US Navy, like my Father and Grandfather before me. Unfortunately Psoriais disqualified me from joining.
Instead of the draft, in 1975 while 17 years old and seniors in high school my buddy and I joined the US Navy in the cache program. We went to boot camp in San Diego a month after graduation. He struck for submarine service, and I went to surface ships. He stayed in for twenty years on nuclear subs, but I chose to complete my initial service and head back home to farm with my dad. Best years of my life were serving my country.
I'd refuse to go.

I vaguely remember but some years ago a guy congress jokingly proposed a bill that allows women to be drafted and it got passed.
I remember it was a big story on the news and on the daily show with Trevor Noah
But what about minimal training requirements for drafted men and potential expulsion if you're deemed unfit for combat?
Everything you mentioned already exists. And there are requirements for both voluntary as well as drafted personnel. Btw, "unfit for combat" is not the only reason one can be discharged. There are a number of reasons. For example: An Honorable, General, Other than Honorable, A Bad Conduct Discharge and a Dishonorable Discharge. Note: The latter may result in difficulty with regard to the civilian workforce should one seek employment.
Im ready to fight. Bad thing is that i dont know who im fighting for if its right..
Anyone remember Congress alone has the power raise troops, this would include a draft, although the limit is 2 years. Such a thing is not easily removed with a bill.
As a quadriplegic, I am 100% undraftable

In Austria where I currently recide I should be fine since I'm exempt from military servicem.
But I'm also a British citizin, yet never permanently lived there. So this is the only side where I theoretically could be drafted.
