  • Hah - this baby isn’t going to bend like my last attempt! Just try it paint - I got you beat on this one. I was so disappointed my last painting was spoiled by a bending canvas panel despite all my best efforts, so I am determined to try that color combo again and make it work.

    Ahhh gold, yes! A girl after my own heart ;-) I’ve only tried pouring masters 24k gold, which i like very much. Many of you may have already figured out what it took me a while to, but when I want the gold to not sink and I’m doing a flip cup I put the gold in first, at the bottom, so that when you flip it that’s the color that’s going to plop out very last and will be on the top and not get lost under the other colors.

    Thats in a way psychodelic, interesting and beautiful. Nice how different colors appear in one cell. Yes the gold is fabulous! Good done! .) Yes when you hold the dried tile close to the cam we can see it good. Why dont you just go to the Windows with the cam, there is plenty of light which lets the colors and glitter show their vibrancy and shining?.)

    Beautiful! So glad I found your vids, have almost watched them all and love that you also show the end product, varnished and all ready to go. I have never tried acrylic pouring before but I am going to try it on tiles. Do you gesso all your tiles first? Also do you paint the backs of the tiles as well, to make the back tidier? Thank you for sharing your projects with us ☺

    • @AcrylicPouring
      @AcrylicPouring  Před 7 lety

      For my practice and testing I don't gesso the tiles, but if you intend to use them for art, yes I recommend that you do. I finish the back with a piece of cork roll and then display them on mini easels. Look great on a desk or small home.

    FABULOUS. I've never tried acrylic pouring (in fact I don't have much experience with acrylics at all except in kids craft projects) but I sooo want to after watching some of your videos. Love this tile. I've a glass-topped patio table minus glass and I have a bucket of ceramic tiles that came off the wall. It'd make a beautiful top if it worked out and if it didn't - scrape it off and start again!! Would it be ok to cover them in resin to make them weather resistant? I live in Ireland. We get a lotta rain all year round - last summer we had one day of sunshine.

    Wow it's stunning, so pretty! A series of them is an excellent idea 😊. I've never thought about using tiles before, I think a raid of my boyfriend's garage is in order, I'm sure I've seen old tiles in there. How long did it take to dry?

    • @AcrylicPouring
      @AcrylicPouring  Před 7 lety

      Tiles do take longer than canvas, quite a bit longer. I would say 3 days but leave it longer to varnish, at least a week.

      Hi Deby. Your designs are stunning. I am re-tiling my kitchen floor with ceramic tiles, and I want to acrylic paint a few and put some down. Do you think acrylic would stand up to the wear and tear of ceramic floor tiles. I would REALLY like to personalize my new tile floor with some tiles that I have created. Thanks in advance! :)

    I am finding such a fascination with poured acrylics and this video was just mesmerizing. So if a person would like to use the finished ceramic tile as a coaster, do you think the heat resistant spray varnish that is used on car parts would work? I think I'd finish the back side with a coaster tile so furniture surfaces wouldn't get scratched. Comments please. Thank you!

    • @AcrylicPouring
      @AcrylicPouring  Před 7 lety

      I'm still testing to find the right varnish to finish them as coasters that doesn't go sticky with a hot mug. But that heat resistant spray is one I am testing now.

  • @jdmosaics
    @jdmosaics Před 7 lety

    Well done Deby, a beautiful pour but Acrylic paint is not meant to go on Gloss ceramic tile, it is not permanent. When you say you would use them for coasters what product will you coat them with to seal them, make them heat and scratch proof?
    Congratulations on your Web site, blog and store set up, it is amazing how you have made a business out of learning an art genre!

    • @AcrylicPouring
      @AcrylicPouring  Před 7 lety

      These are usually only for playing around and testing, I'm not trying to make any masterpieces to be admired for years to come so I think it will be OK. I do use a number of layers of a good varnish and they seem to be well adhered, but as with a lot of aspects of this art, only time will tell about that.
      Thanks for the comments about my website. I do enjoy learning new skills and teaching what I learn and what doesn't work at the same time.

      Ah sorry, the mix was mentioned in the earlier video, the project that went wrong. I used 2 parts paint, 1 part floetrol, about 1 part water or a little less as needed, plus a couple of drops of silicone in each color. Hope that helps.
