They are idols among idols, and even Bts has expressed their love and respect for them many times.

Oh yeah! The OG kings of KPOP.... Big Bang. T.O.P. and G Dragon are two of the best rappers in kpop. The only kpop concert I have been able to go to was G Dragon's concert. His MOTTE III tour in Chicago. It was epic.

They can turn award shows into their concerts. They had performances in award shows where the audience shouts for an encore.
Also they are Blackpink’s seniors. Big Bang’s leader G Dragon worked with Jennie and Rosé even before their debut. He released songs with Jennie (Black) and Rosé (Without You). He believed in their talent so much. Then Lisa during their trainee days was once one of the backup dancers for Taeyang’s song Ringa Linga.
Fun fact their songs are also written/produced by Teddy since they’re also from YG Ent. (same company as Blackpink). This song in particular is by Teddy and 2 of the members, TOP and G-Dragon. I love Bang Bang Bang but please don't try to set them on this song and Fantastic Baby (second MV with most views). They are more than up beat songs, and specially on stage they are the best. No one in Kpop is at their level on stage. They have bangers on every genre: hip-hop, rock, edm, ballad, funky, pop... Check their most recent album: MADE. Each song has a MV and you can see the versatility. And check live performances where you can see they haven't rival.
In top of that G-Dragon their leader is a legend in Korean and Asia, THE trendsetter.

T.O.P and GD were the ones responsible for making rap and its culture so popular in k-pop. That's why they are insanely respected not only by k-pop idols, but by korean rappers too. These dudes are the O.G. Nobody were rapping like them when they first got into the industry.
You're going to feel validated if you watch their live performances, I recommend the 2015 mama award show with Loser, Bae Bae, Bang Bang Bang! They definitely stole the show! Such great entertainers! I think G-Dragon writes most of their music so their stuff is original, at least their more recent stuff.

Big Bang is actually the first group that I started listening to in KPOP. They opened the door for me into this new world. You have to react to Big Bang’s Loser MV. I think you’d like the lyrics for it as well as GDragon’s Without You featuring a pre-debut Rosé. Those lyrics hit deep for me.

You can listen to their songs for more. Almost all of their songs were produced by members in the group. In particular, the leader G-DRAGON who is a rapper was involved in literally all of their songs. They are geniuses, kings of kpop. They are idols among idols, and even Bts has expressed their love and respect for them many times.
For me they are the ones who merged different genres in one song which are mostly heard today and yet people will say cliche or nothing but ordinary. 🤷🏻♀️
