Your expression like that of the proudest mother, ever. We all fell like aunts, uncles, parents and grandparents to Angelina, don’t we? All because we’ve been able to watch her progress from a young child, to this. Since Angelina’s only just turned 16, she is, of course, nowhere near finished her growth as an artist. The anticipation.
It's a given the performance was out of this world truly outstanding so not much to add from the genius young lady. But your joint reactions where a testament to her beautiful voice and talent.

Valentine's Day 2022 became the best one because Angelina used her angelic voice and made an iconic song her own with her rendition.

Yes she deftly slides from note to note, uses a a lot of dynamics and different voice types: a very rich performance indeed!

What a lovely couple you are, Tony taught me something about this song I never noticed before, thanks.
I put this on pause and brought up Sinatra, Bublé, Streisand, Fitzgerald and Vaughan's version of this song to compare it to AJ version, and none of them moved me like this version. It is so hard to comprehend that Angelina from 7 to 16 is the greatest story telling being in my 74 years of experiencing great vocalist and I can't wait for the rest of the story.

I believe that Angelina had Sarah Vaughan's version as a template. Sarah definitely overdid it with the vibratos. For this reason, I think Angelina is much better.

A great review guys. Angelina is definitely one of the top Jazz musicians in the world now and, amazingly, she is top notch in most other genres too.

Absent from this stunning emotional vocal performance, I love her decent way to dance this song in the video. First I thought, she might be sad, but it just was a way of dancing, an own performance. Great art.

Tony! You have such a way with words! Yes to all that you said! That is quite a tool box that this young lady has. Angelina is resuming her live concerts in Norway this year - it will be an experience that I can't miss! If her album comes out this year her name will soon become well known world wide!

This is perhaps my 50th repeat watching, and I found myself thinking what a superb photographer's model she makes, taking a new pose every 5 seconds for fairly long stretches, and each pose different and interesting. Has her "golden buzzer mama" Heidi been giving her lessons?
Before Angelina I didn't know this song at all, now it's one of my favorite songs. I melt away every time I listen to this, no idea if she knows how good she really is...

I'd love to see/hear/witness her singing this song live with real musicians. I feel that if she performed with her potential soul and depth, and she was on....man! Tony, "you da man!" That's the best description I've heard of what she did here. This has been my favorite song most of my life & I've heard many greats sing it (male & female), but this is my favorite version. Like you, this is my new Angelina favorite, as well. I've probably heard this 100 times & still can't get enough. The only thing that could make this better for me is if we could see her singing this "Live in Studio." Please Angelina. Wait until you hear this a few more times, Tony, you will discover many things you missed the 1st time around.

LOL This song is dangerous, if I put the IG vid on repeat I dont even notice the end. Had to force myself to stop it after an hour or so.
I totally agree! I, like everyone else, want to see an album of new songs, but I would not hesitate to scoop up a vinyl album of nothing but a bunch of old classics that Angelina has reinvented and made her own. I guess what I'm saying is, I just love everything this young lady sings, even songs that I was never a fan of before.

@@AJfanboy1 I had a disagreement with another commenter he stated that her career was was not going to go that far if she continued these jazz songs my position was that if she recorded an album with jazz standards on it of this quality and it got sufficient airplay that she would simply explode onto the music scene!!!!

This reaction is so descriptive and articulate at saying what I have felt about Angelina’s technique and artistry.
Angelina appears to have been born with ALL the necessary equipment (to be crude about it) needed to be a phenomenal vocalist - brain, lungs, larynx, family, culture, opportunity, etc.
She has an amazing set of internal tools (memory, timing, etc) at her disposal. Together they assemble into the instrument that we get to experience.
She had some coaching and lots of natural talent to hear, reproduce, feel, and create music. She must have an idyllic memory for sound & perfect pitch, as well as a natural ability to control body parts throughout her neck and head that most us are unaware we possess (like there are people who can wiggle their ear and others who have no idea what could do that).
I believe these give her the ability to reproduce the sounds of any vocal artist she has ever heard and use them interchangeably. (As you mention, also meld them together.)
I also believe that she is singing in the moment and planning ahead, in real time. She is masterful at leading us through the melody (and all the embellishments), making everything a continuous flow.

Yes,Tony, every word, every note has a listener on the edge of their seat. And, if a chorus is repeated during any song she sings, each version is sung differently.
Whatever she sings for us, it's like it is a mini Concert performance.

My first choice of music today is Angelina Jordan music. To me it does not matter what genre she sings. I'm always hypnotized and fascinated by how she kan use her voice. She's brilliant.
I second that. I listen to other songs now and then, but it has become like a part of life for me to listen to this young lady sing a half a dozen or so times a day, and some days it's the same song again and again, just because of how it makes me feel.
Tony's use of the metaphor of two people in ice dancing or figure skating in perfect harmony with each other and the music, is a brilliant image of Angelina's enormous musicality. The way she processes each and every note gives the text extra life, color, and power. Text and music merge in perfect harmony. Angelina's aesthetic expression is almost painfully beautiful and belongs to eternity.

Angelina is worthy of a live band, so imo they could be live in the studio. But then, recording in bits and pieces is far more pro.
At least it sounds that good. But if she found a good backing track that can be deceitful. She has shown before she loves to slide in and out of the instrument notes, melting her voice with them if she has an orchestra backing.
She is , and has for some time now, the reigning Queen Of Jazz.
just amazed how she goes from one end of the jazz spectrum to
bring Billie Holiday's 'breathy, sensual' nuance to this classic, then
totally reverses direction to bring the raw inflections like 'slurring'
words for effect and changing 'key' radically in mid-sentence to
emulate what Amy Winehouse was known for. We then add in this
girl's superior ability to go from low, to medium, to high registers
effortlessly and as we are enjoying these mesmerizing vocals we
also have the beauty of this 'Persian Princess' to intoxicate us
further.
