Family Ties is an American sitcom television series that aired on NBC for seven seasons, premiering on September 22, 1982, and concluding on May 14, 1989. The series, created by Gary David Goldberg, reflected the move in the United States from the cultural liberalism of the 1960s and 1970s to the conservatism of the 1980s. This culture was particularly expressed through the relationship between young Republican Alex P. Keaton (portrayed by Michael J. Fox) and his ex-hippie parents, Steven and Elyse Keaton (portrayed by Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter).

Tina Yothers should have kept her blonde hair. She looks better with that color. This was one of my favorite shows as a child. I'm 50 years old. Absolutely loved the theme song.

It's only because of the respect for Michael J Fox that I won't say it totally sucked, but really it did suck. Has to be one of the most sarcastic and judgemental families ever. ( I KNOW ITS IN THE SCRIPT). Just not my cup of tea. I am definitely a Fox fan though.

@@michaelhungate7506 What's funny is, I don't remember the parents that well. I know their names (Steven and Elyse) and they were hippies in the 60s. You can tell that this was a vehicle for MJF. I saw a handful of episodes and nothing that I found amusing, except for the one where Elyse punches out Alex's teacher. That was funny.
It's crazy to think that Michael J. Foxes parents on this show are only 14yrs older than him in real. If this was reality they would've had him at a really young age..

You are absolutely correct. The "1982" picture is incorrectly dated. The beard didn't come until the start of the second season, in 1983.
For the majority of the cast, life has been kind, but for Meredith Baxter and Justine Bateman, not so much
Meredith is 74 and looks great for her age. As for Justine...eating disorders and being super skinny with less muscle tone will cause skin to ge loose like that. I suffered from anorexia for years, I know. PS ...you shouldn't make unkind remarks about other's appearances. Let's see your close up pics at 55 or 74 years old

Much better show than the Cosby Show. No dum down humor here. Well written and the drama and serious topics were way more substantive than Theo finds a blunt in his math book or Vanessa comes home at 10:05 pm instead of 9pm😂

Of these type videos this is one of the few where the whole cast aged well in appearance.
