The fastest man on four wheels, Ricky Bobby (WILL FERRELL) is one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. A big, hairy American winning machine, Ricky has everything a dimwitted daredevil could want, a luxurious mansion, a smokin' hot wife (LESLIE BIBB) and all the fast food he can eat. But Ricky's turbo-charged lifestyle hits an unexpected speed bump when he's bested by flamboyant Euro-idiot Jean Girard (SACHA BARON COHEN, TV's "Da Ali G Show") and reduced to a fear-ridden wreck. Losing his wife and job to best bud and fellow fool, Cal Naughton, Jr. (JOHN C. REILLY), Ricky must kick some serious asphalt if he's to get his career back on the track, beat Girard and reclaim his fame and fortune. 'Cause as Ricky Bobby always says, IF YOU AIN'T FIRST, YOU'RE LAST!

I actually think this movie, as funny as it is, has some much deeper themes and lessons embedded within it. Great movie.
Whenever Im high i start finding deeper meanings in movies and i think to myself “Did they do that on purpose or am I just seeing things that aren’t there?” 💀
This is the point of the movie where it goes from being funny to "wait, that was my dad"
@@StephenSchaal This is like when theater was thought to be impossible to be a tragic comedy and then Shakespeare took the stage. Shit can be funny and then the next second hit you in the feels because jokes tell half truths and the hardest truths (tragedies) can make the greatest jokes. Its a great irony.
I FOUND A WHOLE RAT IN MY COBB SALAD
I say that all the time, especially when Ricky talked about winning, doing everything for his parent to the point he doesn’t know himself. And seeing his parent like that
The little guy with red hair delivers his lines halariously.
The same actor played the weird kid in all of the Diary of a Wimpy kid movies
Fregley
Ricky Bobby: If u ain't 1st you're Last
Reece: I was High🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The dad was starting to see that his family was starting to enjoy him being around and started planning things together so he just cut the cord right then and there . He knew he’ll break their hearts sooner or later so he just ended it there
I pretty much lived this way till I was 30, then I realized I was alone like I had always wanted. Now I'm trying to be around friends and family more and it feels great. Sucks thinking you don't deserve good things.
@@imamiddleagedgoofygoober Good luck. You do deserve good things.
For a comedy, it does show that there are people who act like this in real life.
Yeah unfortunately not everyone can connect with their family
@@alifakhrzadeh1544 families aren't meant to get together
This was way better than any tv comercial for Apple Bees
This scene actually hits some serious notes in no small part because of Gary Cole's brilliance.
Yeah, as funny as it is, this is someone with severe anxiety/bipolar disorder thats untreated, I used to get like this randomly when I felt "trapped" in a situation.
It took me the longest time to realize this is the Lumbherg we hated from Office Space. He does such a fantastic job as the aloof father in this movie, I didn't put 2 and 2 together until the last time I saw it. xD
No way!
When mom suggests to come back Applebees every week then Reese looks up 😂😂 gets me every time. You can tell he starting to become unhinged, then the Tuesday night ballroom dancing was it.😂😂😂
Ballroom dancing pushed Reese over the edge. Can you blame him?
spot on! for me it was when my old lady wanted me to go to those stupid AA meetings she loved to attend.
APPLEBEES HAS RATS!!! 😂
I FOUND A WHOLE RAT IN MY COBB SALAD
"You could be second, you could be third, fourth, hell you could be fifth" best quote no one remembers
ive always preferred 2nd 😎
Your still last cause you ain’t first tho so he’s not wrong at all
"It certainly does look delicious." XD
I gotta tell you this is about damn perfect evening right now
"If you could go ahead and win that race that would be great"
Took me 10+ years to realise his father is Bill Lumbergh!
What made this movie great was ya it’s hilarious but has an emotional center
Gary Cole stole every scene he was in....he was hilarious as Reece Bobby.
Applebees is not playing around! They threw out grandpa like it was a bar! I guess technically it is a bar! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"I don't know what organ or bone people have that make them act right, but I was born without it." Welcome to the Spectrum!
Gary Cole is my favorite character in Talladega nights the ballad of Ricky bobby
Grandpa Chip will definitely give Ricky's mother a big thank you for fixing the grandkids behavior.
When I was little my mom told me that the best lesson she ever learned was that "all work is noble" as in even if you're doing the lowliest, poorest, most disrespected job on earth you can still be proud that you put in the effort and and earned a paycheck at the end of it. Then as an adult I mentioned to her that it was one of the most profound and important lessons I ever learned about hard work, the world, and life in general and she went "I like that, who told you that?" lol
1:42Damn it show respeck to a veteran XD
Who's diabetic
"You can be 2nd, 3rd, 4th.... hell, you can even be 5th!"
Top 5, that's a good day
This is unironically my favorite scene in the movie.
I love it when comedies aren't afraid to inject some realness into a scene, especially when they manage to still make it funny without compromising the emotional impact. "If you ain't first, you're last" is Ricky Bobby's "With great power comes great responsibility" mantra, and on the surface, it is hilarious that his dad's only response to hearing that is that he was high as hell and it makes no sense. But on a deeper level it punctuates the whole point of the scene - that what parents say and do matters to their kids, even if they don't think so at the time. Reese realizes the impact he's had on Ricky's life with just a few words, and the damage he could still do to the rest of the family, and decides they're better off without him.
If you ain’t first you last. Golden.
The waitress was perfectly cast
I found a whole rat in my Cobb salad.... Yeeeeeaaaahhhh. I'm dead
BEST PART!!!😂😂
That scene pisses me off. Thats 100 perc my old man. . Lifw
If you knew my old man, you would WISH he was cool as Reece Bobby.
I love how Reece completely forgot the deeper meaning of his own philosophy. Reece answered Ricky in a literal manner, as if to point out that numbers behind 1 do exist, but fails to recognize the philosophical meaning.
If you live life based on the motto “if you’re not first you’re last”, you’ll always be chasing the number 1 spot, because it doesn’t mean anything to be something other than first place. For a guy like Reece, someone who hasn’t been first at anything in life, that motto would suck to live by and maybe that’s why he’s a bum. He’s accepted that he’ll never be first, and since he equates all places behind first as last place, he doesn’t care to even try at life (no job, no family, no house, etc). The dichotomy of this philosophy would definitely bring about a radical who believes that if you’re not a superstar than you’re a bum. The life paths of Ricky and his father exemplify this. Ricky especially.
Ricky even fails to cope with not being first by psychosomatically paralyzing himself, which shows how devoted he was to being first place. He even completely forgets how to drive all together once he realizes someone better exists. This could have simply been trauma from the accident but who knows.
Why the fuck did just spend 5 minutes writing that out.
" And I think you MEANT to put the damn onions....🧅....👆🏻 👉🏻 👇🏻 ON muh steak 🥩...*looksUpAtWaitress* "
It's almost 2024, and I still find a way to use that quote in a conversation at least 2-3 times a year 😂
The end of this scene was as sad as it was funny. Some complex shit that hits a nerve
I’m with the dad on this one, that s*it seemed boring as hell.

@@steverogers7601 Ok hypocrite. Even Cpt. America chose a life with Peggy after having a life of conflict.
@@InsanitysApex That's a terrible comparison.
@@atomic747 Maybe so but the point stands. People need and love conflict.

Doesn’t make any sense when he said he was high when he said “if you ain’t first, your last” bc he has that saying as a bumber sticker at the beginning of the movie
"I'm a veteran! And a diabetic!"
Once is ok , not every week
Applebee's always has great food, especially on Friday and Saturday
Apple Bee's have rats found 1 in my Cobb salad😂😂
Steve Earle’s “Valentine’s Day” totally drives this brilliant scene. This one of my top 4 favourite scenes in all of cinema history, the other three being the harpsichord recital scene in Kubrick’s ‘Barry Lyndon’, Martin Landau and Jerry Orbach’s first discussion in Woody Allen’s ‘Crimes and Misdemeanours’, and Lysette Anthony and Sidney Pollock’s ‘party’ scene in Allen’s ‘Husband’s and Wives…’
Sir are you lost
I was always saddened and disappointed by Reese spoiling the family good times!
As funny as this is, this is what its like to have a major anxiety attack, I've been there. He feels trapped. Some people aren't meant for a routine.
I was high when I said that... lol
Since he said he was high when he said that phrase, I wonder if he was high when he got that bumper sticker for his car since it showed that when he left the school
My car name is bumblebee, its not a car its futuristic colours, blaygray awesome
Why his children talking like old folks 💀
Lmfao. 😂🤣😆😭
Im the same way. When things are goin good I just have to destroy it. I dont know why. I need turmoil.
Applebee's has rats😂
I found a whole rat in my cobb salad!
I like chilis more than Applebees to be honest plus I don’t eat Applebees!
What the hell is cob salad 😅
Even Damn Yankees love this movie.
