      jiggahippo it's funny i worked for this company, and let me tell you we do not do that. Lol those boots that were connected to the ducts are made of fiberglass. You should ask the question, why don't they show how the inside of the ducts look? Or why you only see him stick the brush in a couple of feet hmmmm?? 😂. That return box is also made fiberglass, that's a plus he put a sleant on it, so you won't have all that fiberglass blowing in your house. I'm guessing this house might have old ductwork porous, or asbestos. Either way we wouldn't clean it to much of a liability damaging it.

      I own a duct cleaning company and we do everything essentially the same exact way but some of this stuff is next level. I charge 400$ for a 1 system cleaning. I’m sure these guys are charging more though. Removing the coils and disassembling the blower is some dedication.

    I am a heating contractor and have never been the duct cleaning business but I do recommend that you do get it done especially if the house is brand new, over 10-15 years old, you have pets or have recently had construction done in the home. Use a reputable company! A $99 duct cleaning service won't cut it and usually use poor equipment or do a "quickie" job.When done properly I have seen jobs where enough crap, especially pet hair was removed it would fill a couple of full sized garbage bags. Although a good filter will catch most dust modern high efficiency furnaces can get clogged by the stuff that gets through.

    • @jakev1972
      @jakev1972 Před 7 lety +3

      kittyboo2121 a certified hvac professional is more than capable of removing the blower motor and a coil, and putting back correctly. tbh my company charges alot for both those separately because it is quite labor intensive. most duct cleanings however dont require that service though.

      I highly doubt that a homeowner could properly cut out an evaporator coil. Actually the cutting I'm sure could be done by a homeowner, just the re- installation. You know, brazing, pressure test with nitro, tripple vacuum below 500 micron, and the whole getting the charge right thing.

These guys do it right. This probably costs over 1k for them to do this, but if you install a media style (like an air bear) air filter and a UV light system you'll probably never need to do it again.

    I can see that the location that did this job did it well. Duct/vent cleaning was done, or supposed to have been done on a condo that I own. Real estate agents met the men. I was told the work was done, however, I can tell you nothing was done from the location that were supposed to take care of my job. Every vent cover and air return was still in place and not taken off (screws still painted shut). The furnace filter was not replace even though I had a new one there for them. Odors are still there even after "bombing" the condo. I also now have what appear to be bleached areas on the brand new carpet that were not there before. As of yet, I have not had a return call from the owner of this franchise who was going to "do some checking". I can also tell you that IF anything was done, there was no post job clean up

    nice now i get why you create a little negative pressure then if you put the mold spray by the open register it will suck it thru the system with out have to take a blower while spraying it in. And using the blower motor that is already installed is just going to blow the dust caught on the blower motor itself so i can see why you would uninstall the blower motor itself and clean it separately . Also cleaning the evap coils as well if ac unit.

      You can bet the pull and clean of the evap coil alone is going to be $500-$1000 from Billy Ray Bobs a/c and dog walking service. My estimate on this, is your looking at atleast $2,500+ for a 1200sf home, your talking cleaning, brazing, flowing nitro, pressure test, pulling a vac, electrical, cleaning, chems and that's just for the coil, now you got the blower removal, disassembley, cleaning and reassembly, then reinstall,
      now you got your duct cleaning,
      not too sure if I'd want to be the one to run a rotobrush down inside an older Flex duct but to each his own,,
      Basically what was shown in this vid is not by any means going to be a cheap service,

    • @TonyWadkins
      @TonyWadkins Před 4 lety

      They don't unless you've got money to burn. And definitely not on an older system where the removal will likely cause the coil to leak due to being jostled around. They can then come back for an expensive service call and recommend a new indoor coil or more likely new system. There's absolutely no reason you can't do a reasonable job without removal. Sometimes it requires cutting an access hole in the coil case then patching with another piece of sheet metal.

      Livin hi there.
      Thanks for the info. That was all I was checking. The fiberglass ductwork shoul or shouldnt be cleaned that way? It’s that normal procedure and the coating?
      Thanks

      @Longtie123 Před 4 lety +1

      @@carlosamaya2200 @Carlos Amaya It depends on the fiberglass honestly, can't say without looking at it, and yes it is normal. We would see this more in commercial buildings though we would apply a coat of sealent (that white paint), but by the time we got there the fiberglass was falling apart and blowing into the whole a/c system. People who would work in the office would complain about the air inside the building. Well they were breathing in all that fiberglass that was falling apart. I would feel bad for them at times. They would have cheap landlord, or owners who wouldn't want the cleaning done or a complete overhaul of the system.
      You should remove it by this point, and install bubble wrap. Sometimes is salvageable like in the video it looked like it was still intact, but you don't want to start disturbing this stuff. The particulars are small you can't see them. I would rather breath in dirty air then fiberglass air even though I did for 2 years lol I would hate fiberglass so much I would go home and think of ways of how to keep things insulated better without fiberglass, or why they invited this stuff in the first place.

      Yup i get jobs like that. When i see its duct board/fiber glass ducts i put the vent back on and im out of there. I do negative air cleaning with whips. A friend of mine did end up cleaning fibreglass ducts ones and the costumer called back the next day. She was coughing alot and notice fiber glass on her counter tops and furniture. She ended up at the hospital and all that. Normally i charge $300-$400 just duct cleaning on a house of 10-15 vents. Even if they offer me $1000 to clean fiber glass i wouldn't never do it. Unless you have a good insurance dont touch it.

    Do you even need air duct cleaning? the answer is YES and stop being so cheap and get it done. Especially when some air vents are not working or passing little amounts of air. There is only a certain amount a filter can do, and we know how easy it is for us to forget to change them.

    thats a good negative air machine. probably 3000+ cfm. Nice vacuums, but just using a rotary brush for the trunk/branch lines is usually not good enough. The need of a powerful gas air compressor to hold atleast 150psi is needed to thoroughly do a duct cleaning... Much better than just rotary with brush extensions. Overall these portable negative air machines are so much better than truck mounts.

      DUCTZ uses both cable driven brushes IN COMBINATION with compressed air tools, whips, skippers etc. Air alone is not even close to using brushes and air in combination. It CONTACT that gets the small particulate removed from the system! We take pictures to prove it...those duct cleaners who primarily use air tools, dont even come close to cleaning as well as they could.

      My DUCTZ office isolates the air hander out of the flow using zoning techniques to prevent ANY dirt from entering the coil, heat elements, blower etc during the duct cleaning. We do also clean all the hvac system components, but we prevent them from getting any "duct dirt" from the cleaning process...one of the techniques that DUCTZ deploys that others do not!

      Bargeld Rotty When an airhandler is new, it may not require those services and can be left alone. In any case, the air handler is isolated out of the cleaning process ( we call it zoning) to prevent any debri from coming across the air handler. Each side of the system (supply side, and return side) is cleaned separately to prevent any furnace contaminatin.-Scott Jasion, Ductz of the Upper Bay Region, MD.
