What a lovely sound it makes. Old Honda v6's are a dream.
Agreed!
A dream you do not want to wake up from !❤❤
Wow beautiful car
Kinda has prelude style
Yeah it does! They had great design back in this era
That car is pretty mint for the age and miles. But I wouldn't expect anything less from Tyson Hugie! I'm sure whoever buys it will be a very happy new owner!
Me too! Actually I hope to see this one at the next National Acura Legend Meet, whoever ends up buying it.
I would have never guessed that it has 256k. Car looks brand new. Amazing work as always Tyson, good luck with the auction!
Thanks Sunny! 👍
This car has aged gracefully well. Just like most Acura's they get better with time. It's like fine wine.
Well stated
So clean! My dad bought a silver ‘89 Legend Coupe! It was butter!
They idle so quietly you can't even hear they're running! Talk about well-engineered machines.
That digital display is very impressive. I love this car because it was ahead of its time
Very much so
I never seen a car with 256K miles on it, look that good.
Thank you! Credit to the prior owners - it was nice when I got it, I just brought it back to 100%!
Agreed
I baught same car for my 14 year old as his first car.His is red and has only 124k on it actual mileage.Everything is fully functional also.IAA auction paid $800
Now seeing this I realize what a great deal I got.
You got a great deal!
What a sweet ride, brings back so many memories when I first started driving.
Same here, I have loved this body style since before I even had a license.
I actually sat in the back seat of one of those in 1990 as an adult. Let’s just say everything else about the car is great
Haha, there's always the sedan version I guess
I also have to say after looking at the auction listing that's a very Impressive presentation of the Legend
Thank you Jason. I worked so hard for a thorough vid and nice pics. Glad it's recognized :)
What a time capsule, I’m sure someone will love this car. It’s aged quite well, and sounds super healthy! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks Matt! I agree
One of the nicest examples of a Gen 1 Legend indeed! I've only seen one of these in Texas sometime last year. Very rare car.
Thank you! I hope it goes to someone who will appreciate it.
Wow, I’m getting so much nostalgia as you were rowing through the gears. I’m debating if I need this in my life again.
The gearbox is the best part! Honda/Acura knows a thing or two about making a manual transmission.
this is all the car i would ever need
Right? Such a perfect balance
My first car was a 89 Legend coupe L. Absolutely loved that car! Hearing that V6 wind up was such a great memory!
Glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful
Thank you!
I love this car. I owned 3 coupes in the north east in the past.
Thank you, it was a great car!
Very nice unmolested Legend especially in this 2-dr variant!
One unique feature this generation had I always thought was cool was "bronze tinted glass" which was a very light "coppery" color that even included the windshield & moonroof! Surprisingly my first new Honda, an '89 Accord SE-i included this glass too.
It was all those unique touches that made these cars so memorable and added to their desirability in an age of more mundane vehicles. Naturally the tech may be outdated but it still mostly works and there's always the refinement, ride and handling and smooth linear power from the buttery smooth V6 that's just missing from modern turbo cars that transports you back in time. Seeing this car brings it all back to when the attention to design, level of detail and consistency of color inside the car seems so superior to the random color matches used today.
I still recall reading an article back in the day when the CEO of Honda said the company would only cut costs in areas that made sense and never where the customer would notice... Pity they don't feel that way today.
GLWTA and to some lucky owner...
Thanks for all the feedback, I agree 100%!
Could not agree more! A well preserved Japanese car from the late 80s or early 90s is just a superior driving experience! Especially the Honda's with double wishbone on all corners. Literally the ONLY reason I don't drive such a car today is due to crash safety concerns (especially with massive SUVs everywhere). Instead I have a Volvo V60 3.0 T6 which has something like 7 airbags and an driver ejection seat. But 20 years ago, I had a Nissan Pulsar SSS (2.0 NA) with every option imaginable and, on the right day, that car was better to drive in almost every respect.
I had a 89 Acura. That was my first car when I got into high school. I miss my high school year bought my aucra from my brother, who now have a 93 aucra legend that money green....
Awesome, they are great cars!
Grandma had this car I loved being in it
They are great cars!
Tyson, this wonderful Acura is worth several modern cars.
Thank you!
Beautiful g1 legend, great car way ahead of its time🔥🔥🔥🔥 content
I appreciate that, thanks a lot!
@@TysonHugie your welcome
256k damn if i saw it driving around id think under 100k. Those machine finish wheels set it off nice.
Thank you! Def looks good for its age!
@@TysonHugie You picked some good things to restore. Ripped up seats would not have the car presentable= less $$$, wheels also
Wow a LS 5sp coupe😳😳😳. Hard to come by. Very nice 👍🏽. They did a great job on the seats 🤩. I always thought of the first generation legend coupe as a V6 prelude lol.
I agree with you!
Beautiful Acura/Honda history, when reading the title of the video I read “No Reverse” for the ending of said title smh lol.
Haha, thanks for watching!
1/3 of a century has passed and it has become a masterpiece.
Yes!
That is so clean!!! Too clean. Great owners who maintained this thing #goals
Totally agreed!
Stunning. A trip back into time. Incredible
Thanks Corey
Man that's nice this will easily sell, the best legend I've seen
Thank you!
Reminds me of my 91 Prelude. Man I miss that car so much. Wish I had never sold it.
I agree, very similar lines!
Beautiful car! I had a similar Legend Coupe years ago, what a fun car to drive in a manual. Thanks for sharing.
You bet - thanks for watching!
My hat goes off to you Tyson. The level of detail and care in that final package you showed (with the folder full of car specific materials, laminated print out, magazines, brochures, little bits and pieces from the actual dealership that originally sold the car, etc etc) is just fantastic. Well done! .... Being a child of the early 80s, I get a huge pang of nostalgia with cars from the late 80s / early 90s
Thank you!
You find these cars love it. Its beautifull!
This one found me, haha. Prior owner contacted me ready to sell.
Hey Tyson! You seem to have this knack for finding these gems then making them even better!! Good luck my friend
Thank you! Nothing like a 90s Acura stick shift coupe! They are just amazing cars.
Beautiful car. Every time I see your videos I start looking up older Acuras for sale.
Glad you like them!
I would gladly bid on your Legend Sedan manual :)
Haha I’ve had that 14 years and it’s not going anywhere yet!
Geez, that Legend is in great shape for its age, and you did a really nice job making it look showroom fresh! That lip spoiler is pretty wild - it looks like it extends past the trunk lid onto the fender - interesting design! That interior is a fascinating mixture of new design cues of where Acura is going, but also some old-school Honda designs that remind me of my 84 Accord. Good luck with the sale!
Thanks Tim! 👍
I had the exact same car, but in brilliant red. Loved the car. The car antennae was in the way of the spoiler, which was a rubber coated foam…. The antennae would automatically retract when the trunk opened. One time it didn’t and tore the spoiler. I was quite upset. I reluctantly sold it when we had our first child. Not great for car seats.
Should sell well. 256 k. Wife had same yr a Md color but auto. Beautiful Car. You a very stellar Acura collection 👍🏾💯
Thanks 👍
You’re always getting those rare gems man !
This one was really enjoyable for sure
Beautiful car! Those seats look great - originals and refinished ones. Great assessment of the car. Should make bidders feel confident they're getting a great car. Hope you do well with it!
Agree - 22 mins is a lot to sit through, but I wanted this to be thorough! Thank you!
Super great video editing! We should team up more often for such. It’s a beautiful car, one of my favorite body styles for this model. Tempted to bid….
Thanks for being the support crew! Send me your invoice!
The legend of the acura legend #tyson shout out from houston tx my friend fyi i live right by that buckys with "gas pumps. for days "
Haha! Awesome. I very well recall that station! Thanks for watching Jacob.
This was one of the best cars ever made
Agreed
sounds great on the road
Right? That's what I was trying to capture. The 2.7 has such a cool sound to it.
Soo been keepin update on your channel myself own Acura 2.5L inn Colorado
Awesome, thanks for watching. Post some vids of your Acura.
Lovely video, how do you like the 1st gen compared to the 2nd? that car sounds very healthy , the previous owners cherished it , I’m sure the new owner will too. :)
Thank you! The car feels more light and nimble than a 2nd gen
I had the baby blue and navy two tone 5 5 speed I really miss that car
Thank you, they are amazing cars!
Beautiful !!!❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
I’m sure you’re sad to put this one on the block, but it’s hard to imagine a better time to sell. Used car values are through the roof!
Always sad to part ways. But I have a few other projects marinating. 13 to be exact. (crying emoji)
My Mom had one just like this (just in automatic) Beautiful!
Thank you!
Gorgeuous, early acuras.
Agree, thank you!
Such a beauty! Very nice example of a first gen. Can't wait to see what this one brings in. Needing to make some room for something new? :-)
Seriously. This car's space has already been taken by something else. But I really enjoyed it while it lasted! :)
I love your channel very much. I have Accord 99th year European (produced in England). I always find in hondas on your channel a lot of interior details similar to my Accord. I love Legend, Ascot, Vigor so much. But it's a pity we don't have them in our region.
That’s awesome. Post some videos of your car sometime.
Out throttled the Honda Pilot haha nice
Haha you know it! Didn't stand a chance!
Nice! I've been thinking about buying a 90 coupe for a while. Wifey won't let me tho 🤣🤣
Go for it!
Love the whip as I do with your entire collection. Sad to see her go
Thank you!
GLWA!!! Looks great 👍
I'll miss it for sure!
Ahh those AZ cars! Nice one Tyson. Good luck with the auction
Thanks! You too!
Beautiful! Whoever wins is a very lucky person. Can you share any information about the reupholstering you had done? I’ve been having a tough time finding a place in LA area that uses the correct leather and pleating style for my 89 LS coupe.
I use a shop here in Phoenix called Trim Fit upholstery. They are awesome and have worked on many of my vehicles.
Que bella machina !!!!
Thank you
Yeah it's beautiful!
I think so too! Thanks David!
Beautifull!❤️👌
Thank you
Such a gorgeous car!
Definitely a well-preserved example! Thanks Torrey
This car is so nice I dont want it because im afraid to get a piece of dust on it.
Haha thanks
I so want one!! My parents had one when I was growing up! It was a ‘87 though 😋
That's awesome! Same body style
Fun facts about this car. The NSX uses the same block as this legend.
This V6 is what was also used in the 1995-1997 Accord V6.
I am not sure the NSX motor is that closely related. Do you have a reference where I can read up on that?
@@TysonHugie Check out the post on NSX Prime by Velocitized called The "J Swap" thread. He talks about it. That thread has a lot of other interesting info regarding the J Series engine swapping into an NSX chassis. J Series transmission mounting to the C3X block, too.
So beautiful
Thank you!
I had the same exact car back in the day. I regret trading it in for a Honda Accord. The rear spoiler came standard on the LS models and was an option for the base and L models. How much.
Nice! If you click the link in the description it takes you to the auction. It ends Thursday
No no no Don’t throw away the car mats those things are worth money get them steam cleaned will come out brand new how much you looking for ?
I haven't really thrown out a target price. I know what my break even is, and I'm prepared to take a loss if it doesn't get that far.
Yeah Buddy. .Not many survivors remaining in this amazing conditon. You have always been a leader on the forefront of advancing the preservation and restoration of the next classic collectible and investment car market. Superior non frame off restoration. .looking forward to seeing the market yeild. .My guess is some where between $12$ to $16k maybe more. We shall see. .Yeah Buddy! Besides the Tyson stamp of approval, Does it come is come with your autograph?
Haha, the sale includes and autograph and an NSX ride.
@@TysonHugie Just to be clear, a ride or a drive?
That milage is scary high for old Honda car like that
LOL. My other Legend has twice that. But thanks!
Beautiful car put you have to pull the tints off. GLWS
Thanks for watching!
dream car
Thanks!
I heard you say expected leaks as far as the engine go? So does it have a leak? Or it doesn’t but expect it due to the age of it? Just wanted to know thanks
It is a 32 year old car with 1/4 million miles on it. It leaks oil. All my Acuras do, except the ILX and the TLX. It's not a severe leak. If you want me to put you in touch with the mechanic who did the major service last October let me know!
holy shit thats nice
Thank you!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
Lovely car and a great review. Thank you. What fuel do you use in a C27a V6 in North-America? In Europa, E10 fuels are being sold more but here you have doom stories bit what do you encounter in the States? Hope to hear from you ore some one else who can help. I have the sister car of this Legend, namely a Rover 827 with the same engine.
Premium unleaded 91 octane
@@TysonHugie thank you. That also contains ethanol correct?
Try to get one of those in the mid 90s but the bank turned me down for the loan, then tried to put me into a ford escort, and try to tell me the ford was just as good as the Acura, i just walked out of the dealership and never returned.
Haha, good call on walking away from that!
@@TysonHugie
That's when my obsession for Acura's started, I've had three TLs including my current 2009 TL SHAWD with 197,900 miles.
Would love to own this, just not sure how I'd get it back here to the UK.
I'm sure there are ways! Love to see it go to someone who enjoys it!
@@TysonHugie I'm definitely going to look into it, great video by the way! :)
dude, I do detailing as you know, let me take care of the fleet!
Gonna keep that in mind! I have an upcoming project...
What year did Honda add the Acura logo to their cars? Weird to not see that on an Acura.
Correct, they didn't have it on the G1 Legend! It started in 1991
I soooo want this car. But the way my bills setup 😭😭😭
Thanks for watching
Hey Tyson. I hope all is well with you. I have a 1994 legend coupe, Just recently the Doors automatically locks when I pull on the knob, or when I press on the unlock button. So no I have to slide over to the passenger seat and open the my door from the outside to get out. Do you have a fix for this please. Thank you
Some of those cars have issues with the door lock actuators unfortunately. I don't know of a fix. You might want to join the Acura Legend Owners & Enthusiasts Facebook group and ask there.
Was the ls trim only offered in america? I've not seen the spoiler on any legends in the UK. Also ive not seen the full beige interior in uk models.
Interesting! There may have been some regional differences.
@@TysonHugieyes definitely! From what I can see, the American and Japanese legends don't have rear bumper fog lights and front headlight washers which are standard on all UK legends :)
Nice. I have a 2000 Acura RL with 270K miles. Nothing novel about climate control other than the digital aspect. My 70 Eldorado had it, so did my 73 Benz. It was also around earlier...
Yes I should have said digital automatic climate control. Nice mileage on your RL!
@@TysonHugie It happens, no biggie. I expect the RL will go to at least 500K. Then I'll install my extra engine and transmission in it...
Man id love to bid but its too nice to daily. Just got rid of an 04 tsx 140k miles inerior not bad just not great either. This one is a beauty though.
Thank you!
You think they'd bring the Legend back in the future?! 1:56 I need to go to Arizona for a low mileage 07 Accord (no rust)
Maybe they will! Definitely some rust-free cars out here.
Any idea where I can find one like this with a manual?
My brother is looking for a replacement for the one he had in college.
This exact car is for sale again, do you want the owner's contact info?
Yes please. Thanks.
Can you email me please? I'm not sure how to reach you. tysonhugie@yahoo.com
I want it lol
Come and get ittttt :)
My question wats the price sir please.?
I sold it years ago
I would totally stanceboy this car and wrap it satin black and murder it out
Nice!!
What website is it selling on
autohunter.com
Hi, I own the same car , but only a Honda, 1990, different big ones, tell me, can I get any information from you about the car, manual or something like that ? Are there any spare parts , I am in the country of Belarus, what is next to Russia, Poland and the like, if there is an opportunity to help, write to the mail please?
There are some resources available for these cars including forums and Facebook groups you could check out
@@TysonHugie Could you suggest the name of the forums or something similar? Plus, in my country there are no spare parts for this car almost , the problem with this , can you somehow find it?
Beautiful design on these first generations. Then they go and ruin them!
I prefer G2
Where shall you list it?
It's up for auction on AutoHunter.com
The only Legend gen I like. It looks slender and athletic. The others got bloated and ugly.
Thanks Andy
