Hey, Emme! Don't listen to people who tell you to skip stuff particularly films in a connected saga. They may not have liked what they saw but you might. Make up your own mind. "Iron Man 2", "Incredible Hulk" and "Thor" all occur during the same week in MCU-time. "Incredible Hulk" is an excellent film but you actually should consider seeing the proto-MCU "Hulk" film from 2003 by Ang Lee first to get a handle on the character. It's the BEST SOLO Hulk film with classic imagery seen nowhere else in the MCU. The film was meant to be the starting point of the saga but failed to gain traction at the box office due to its serious psychological exploration of the Hulk. Although not considered canon, the non-MCU "Hulk" ends where "Incredible Hulk" begins because the sequel is more of a reboot. The MCU film barely covers the origin because the previous film had come out recently and they didn't want to belabor the audience with a repetitive starting point. Instead, they changed the origin to match the long-running TV series for the sake of familiarity. "Hulk" is NOT part of the MCU but connected enough that many fans include it in their head-canon. It's worth your time and every reactor who hasn't been dissuaded found the experience to be a positive one. Be daring and watch them both before "Thor"! You will benefit and many will be impressed by your insider approach.

The senate hearing is actually based on a real-life event. In the 1950's, Howard Hughes (upon whom Tony and his father are partially based) was brought before the US senate to answer questions about his business practices. Much like Tony does here, Hughes dominated the hearing with his big personality, mocked the senator questioning him, and came away looking like a hero for apparently "taking on City Hall" and winning.

“They can’t make him give it over, can they?”
That’s an interesting question. They could go two primary routes:
    1) They could claim eminent domain, claiming its in the best interest of the public at large.
    2) National Security risk. A single Iron Man suit with arc reactor and repulsor tech could overcome an Army company. This could destabilize US foreign relations, complicating diplomacy. Since this is Congress, they could pass a law equating the arc reactor technology with nuclear technology.
In either case, Stark would have a constitutional case that would be argued in front of the Supreme Court. In the Court, Stark may have a shot at defending personal intellectual property rights to dangerous technology. Realistically, the Court tends to lean toward the people’s rights. However with dangerous technology like this, the People might support a constitutional amendment that the Court cannot supersede unless the amendment itself violates the Constitution in some other way.
Not realistically, within the MCU, it’ll be interesting to see how the government responds to this kind of dangerous technology existing. Because this is long-form storytelling, Marvel does explore the impact of these superheroes on society in a variety of ways. As was demonstrated in this film.
    :-)

Okay, you didn't catch it and i don't remember if its ever explicitly stated in this movie, haven't seen it for quite a while. In the scene where Tony opens the box with his dads old stuff and the films, there is a newspaper article about a soviet scientist defecting to the US, his name was Anton VANKOV, Ivans' (plasma-whip-guy) dad and the old guy dying in a shabby apartment in Russia at the start of the movie. The plans for the initial design for the Arc Reactor (the big blue drawing) has "Howard Stark & Anton Vankov" written on it, so that's where the accusation comes from.
Another thing: Tony LET Rhodey take the suit. All of them have operating systems controlled by Jarvis, you can NOT just walk in and take an Iron Man suit.
Also, don't worry about not understanding that science bit. Its not real science anyways ;)

@@b.u.l.1734 I agree, although I think it has to do more with the writing/directing than the actor himself. Mark Ruffalo is a great actor, but he just hasn't been given enough material to really be a great Bruce/Hulk. Iirc, Edward Norton actually left the role because of creative differences about how they should treat the character. And seeing how they treated the character after he left, I can't help but suspect he was probably right to. I feel like after that movie, likely because of poor reception, they just put the Hulk on the permanent backburner, giving him almost no character and no continuity with the original movie.

The problem with watching Hulk later is that you’ll already be used to the recast Hulk and the story won’t really fit into the part of the MCU you’re up to by then.

Best to watch the MCU movies in order as there are spoilers & other events that are important for context in subsequent films, especially the end credits. It's like reading a book and skipping chapter 4 &5. You need to know things in those chapters mostly. The hulk has some of this info, but it's not important until later, so skipping it briefly isn't a big deal. Best watch it before the Avengers movie (next would be better). And yes, this hulk isn't as likeable as future hulk.
Also, the X-Men movies aren't integrated into the Avengers series as of yet, so do watch them sometime before proceeding beyond Endgame. (I think there's a few mini crossovers I haven't seen as of yet).

The Incredible Hulk is much, much better than conventional wisdom would suggest. A lot of people who haven't seen it, or who saw it when they were 10 - 13 and didn't get it, just repeat the conventional wisdom. It's deep...for a Marvel movie. Which means it's too deep for 13 year old boys, but people with...uh...more emotional sophistication tend to appreciate it more.
If you want to get maximum appreciation, watch the pilot for the 70s TV series with Bill Bixby and The Hulk (2003) directed by Ang Lee. The Incredible Hulk works as a stealth sequel to Hulk (2003), which is Hulk's origin story...but they also change elements of the origin story to match the origin from the TV series. Not suggesting you do reactions for them, but watching them before The Incredible Hulk will help you appreciate all the references it makes.

Try not to get influenced to "skip" a movie in a series by toxic fans who've seen said movie 15 times. Watch it... Be your own judge. At least you will have read all the chapters when you finish the book. Enjoy.

Quick bit of real life science: Elements and their isotopes are defined by how many subatomic particles are clumped together per atom. Split or combine those clumps, get different elements. Many of the really heavy elements are absurdly unstable - a bunch of the atoms will spontaneously split apart in as little as fractions of a second - so the only practical way to find any is to create some in a lab, generally by forcibly combining smaller ones. But it’s theorized that some even bigger varieties might be more stable, if we could manage to create them in the first place.
So the concept of Tony synthesizing a new element is realistic. The method depicted here is pretty firmly into “ridiculous superhero stuff that looks cool in a movie” territory. Real life labs for this stuff involve particle accelerators literally miles long, to get things moving fast enough that the atoms actually combine, rather than just glomming together into molecules like they usually do.

I believe they replaced Rhodey's actor mainly because of money issues. I did like Don Cheadle's performance though. This film may not be the best in the series, but it does have its perks. Like that message from Howard to Tony, War Machine and Black Widow appearing, and the ex-wife.

Funny thing about Crocs. The producers used them in the movie Idiocracy because it was an unknown brand, that looked futuristic and stupid. They had no idea the brand would eventually blow up the way they did.
I hear they’re really comfortable. I just can’t imagine paying money for them or wearing them anywhere.

Having followed your Marvel journey from Moon Knight (AND your Star Wars journey as well), what I really enjoy about your reactions is how empathetic you are. Marvel and the MCU has always (ok, almost always) done very well is make empathetic villains, or at least villains who are more than 2-dimensional. Ivan isn't the best villain they've ever made, but I think they do a good job of giving us his past story a little bit at a time. Also it's always weird when an actor gets replaced but personally I love Don Cheadle as Rhodey. Glad to see you'll be watching the Incredible Hulk. It wasn't my favorite but as it turns out (and as Marvel loves to do), events that take place in that movie are becoming more and more important, even now some 14-some-odd years later. Thanks for another great reaction!

    Great reaction!
I strongly recommend you watch Hulk sooner than later, and generally you should stick to watching everything in release order. If you don’t have time to edit it all, then maybe just release the less popular ones on your Patreon unedited and just release them on CZcams whenever you get around to editing them, but you should still watch them in order to avoid spoilers and to make each reaction as good as it can be. (Missing references because you’ve skipped movies may harm your reactions.)
I’d rather miss or have to wait for your reactions than have you watch things in the wrong order for your own experience.
Again, great job, looking forward to the rest! 😊

It’s still hard to believe that they included Randy’s Donuts in this film. I just wish they still sold those muffins with filling. Those were my favorites years ago.
My favorite part of the whole film was seeing Tony and Rhodey/Iron Man and War Machine destroying robots together.

Most patriotic Americans know the true history of America , not all of it because it's so complex and detailed , .much more information than you'd expect . Many of us did not automatically believe everything we were told , we learned about history of the world , geography , us history, and we continued to learn beyond school , unlike many young people today , but you can't know everything . You have to find out for yourself . Don't just take what people tell you as gospel , check all sources , then decide for yourself .

So I discovered you through your Star Wars reactions, and I've been blown away with your dedication to exploring all of the story, including the shows, and I'm also finding the chronological timeline extremely interesting. It's a truly genius and impressive undertaking (which you're doing at a breakneck speed), one which I don't think anyone besides you has done yet on CZcams.
So it makes me wonder, are you planning to give the MCU the same level of depth and care as Star Wars? I've seen you mention that you will be watching the shows, but does that include the earlier shows, like the Netflix Original ones (now on Disney+)? Or Agent Carter, or even Agents of Shield, even though that may not technically be canonical anymore?
Because, personally, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this, I've been dying to see someone take that on. To actually watch things like Agents of Shield, in the release order alongside the main movies. I do understand if you aren't willing to take that on, since it is a lot (and considering that you're delaying Incredible Hulk, I suspect that may be the case), but if you did do it I would be beyond impressed, and it would only further cement the god-tier excellence I've already seen with this channel.

By not seeing every single movie in its order of release, you lose the emotional bit of the MCU experience which is a serial story telling led to its paroxism with Endgame. Every single one adds to this emotional journey.
I really recommend you to see each movie regardless of anyone's opinion about them & to stay 'as pure as possible', unbiased & unspoiled before watching the movie yourself, so that you can get a chance to enjoy it (or not) as we did when it was released.

I saw you already reacted to Moon Knight, that’s part of the MCU and takes place way in the future of where you are in reference to the movies.I recommend you hold on watching more of series that are Disney Plus originals and that came after 2020 because those are set way after many of the movies you still haven’t watch. Daredevil and the other Defenders Saga are ok to watch, as is other series that came before 2018.
