In BC Cariboo 2017 Fires the government goons tried to stop people from helping others even threatening arrest. When i was told to evacuate i bought a 600 litre a minute pump with 500 feet of 1 and a half inch fire hose and a brass nozzle that shoots 50 feet in the air. Looks like what you guys are using. I live on a lake and every day i was blasting like 20,000 litres of water all over my 3 acres keeping everything as green as possible and did even more tree clearing and fire mitigation. luckily it never came to my door but i was as ready as i could be. If all else failed i had a boat that could take me across my lake to where i had a my truck parked. Purpose of my story is you can't rely on help that will not come from the powers that be

The government telling them to evacuate is silly considering how well they seem to be equipped to help, and they're not going to get in trouble despite what they're saying that just sounds like usual Albertan confrontationism towards the government. Its not a matter of "who's in power and who's got the money" its a matter of NEEDING public support to aid in fighting the fires.

Why would the government put out a fire they started? Directly or indirectly the government caused the fires. Whether it be Improper forest management or a flamethrower, the government is culpable.

Realistically , there are not enough people to fight all of the fires. There is only so much that can be done without the people who live in the area jumping in and helping. These folks are doing nothing different than the people did when I was a kid living in northern Saskatchewan. Everyone who could help did.Mind you that was 60 years ago.

Firefighters are doing thier best at the actual fires. They don't have the resources to cut swathes of forest out around everyone's farms. Now they feel that the "government" abandoned them. Important lesson learned here; fix your own problems and stop blaming others for your situation.
