    The Survival Russia Channel is about "The Reality Of Survival". I live on a Homestead in far away Russian wild nature. Here is no room for "TV" Survival.
    Only Reality counts here. Survival Russia promotes the philosophy of always carrying equipment and never to be parted from equipment which will affect chances of Survival.
    So did the old timers and pioneers of both the East and the West.

    Every infantryman in the German army used to carry a mini-pouch of possibles that we called "Engineer's pack" ("Pi-Pack") - and it contained a few nails, some steel wire, thin hemp-rope and a few safety pins etc. Even nowadays I have a piece of steel wire in my ultralight "Fire & Repair-Kit". Hunting platforms come in many guises and can be the difference between eating and not. I found hunting squirrels to be much more productive up a tree. For some reason they come closer than on terra firma. Why? - Curiosity maybe, don't know for sure. But I use a crossbow pistol with home made lunt lead (specifically for squirrel) arrow heads. Greys are a particularly nasty pest here in the UK and quite tasty.
    First time I noticed was while up a chestnut tree waiting for a fox to take some bait so I could photograph her and hopefully cubs. Then realised that an entire family of squirrels were sitting watching me watching for foxes.

    Totally agree, I always Carry nails if I'm going into the wilds for more than a day, I did see a seminar with Mr Canterbury a number of years ago when he mentioned the importance of carrying nails. A friend from the German army also told me about how they carried these items, but your right you don't see to many people mention the importance of carrying such items. Good advice as always keep up the good work Lars, thanks for your videos look forward to the next.👍

    I personally believe that most people would fail to survive in an area of thousands of square kms where there is only oneself and the wild creatures. To many survival is a kind of game rather than truly knowing how to live off the land, knowing what to do if illness strikes or one falls and breaks a limb. Well, surviving is most certainly not a game and if one finds oneself out there without having any tools that survivalists, bushcrafters and so on take for granted, again these people would fail miserably. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and skills with us, Lars, this has been another informative video and it brings the truth right home. Take care...

    Huntarama : I agree with you 100%. You should not plan to "rely" on fire. And I will take one step further. You should not plan on "relying on anything other than your knowledge and experience. You will only be setting yourself up for potential disappointment. As the Marine friend says... Plan A rarely ever works, so you need an excellent Plan B, and a great "Plan C. Come to think of it, I was a smoker back in those days. No wonder fire was so important to me ; )

    In the Swedish Armed Forces most experienced soldiers would carry a "Jaeger-stick", a piece of wood which you could make tinder from, that's about the same length to fit just right into your uniform cargo pockets. The stick would then be wrapped on one end with steel wire and the other with hemp wire, some people would also put stuff like fishing line or other forms of cordage on their sticks as well.

    If you trim the tops off of the trees that are the legs of your stand, they won't cause everything to sway in the wind. Easier to not miss that way. The crop looks like oats. Black bears here love oats. Since the vipers are a dangerous nuisance, why aren't they routinely killed? This is especially true where kids are around. Thanks for the video. I have admired and respected most of the content on your videos, but I can't believe you would venture out without the ability to make easy fire. Guess it just comes from spending more days and nights than I can remember where fire was just so dang important. Like you, I carry probably 1/4 of what many feel necessary to survive. It really has so much to do with experience. When I vas a very young man back in the early 70's, I would go out for 2 or 3 weeks at a time, and often never run into another person. After one particularly long, cold, and snowy adventure, upon return, I realized that about all I had used out of my fairly well appointed kit was matches, my canteen, my cook pot (and food/fishing kit/.22 rifle) and my knife (which was just a slip joint pocket knife), and pretty much in that order. Fire, as well as a couple of other items were way ahead of my knife. Unless you are just amazing with friction fire in the rain, I think I would always have a ferro rod somewhere close by.

    • @huntarama9375
      @huntarama9375 Před 6 lety +1

      Mark Ashcroft- or you smoke cigarettes- a smoker is always two steeps ahead of the game. My opinion is you shouldn't plan to rely on fire but its a hell of a good back up and their are times when its saved my A&*. If I planning to stay out fire is not how I plan to stay warm- If I have to spend a night out by accident fire is what saves your life. If I go for a day hunt I make sure I can light a fire and I now take a saw but if I am planning to stay out I take a sleeping bag , A fire just scares all the animals away .

Very true, and I think this practical tool has been overlooked most of the time. Question for you, have you taken shots at big game from your stand in the trees before? I ask this thinking about the elk I shot last year. I didn't realize how little I was balanced on a narrow ledge until I fired. Just the bit of recoil made me fall over, and I wasn't shooting a cannon. -But the elk is delicious.

    Lars around your hunting area for long term animal attraction I would suggest Huntarama new and improved salt/mineral blocks. They are quite portable and i have tried them with a game camera and they seem to work . If I get time I will post a video of how to make them. To-morrow i am heading out to check some more I have set out with a game camera although I forgot to GPS the location and its about an hours walk into the forest so im not overly hopeful of finding my game camera. They dont work that well around farm land as the fertilizer used largely meets the animals mineral requirements they seem to work best out in the deep bush, perhaps at your hunting cabin.

    Lars, don't know if you see that documentary/film, but it's awesome (ok, ok, tell me how I should pay for your copyright :). We can see several of the traditionnal Russian techniques and teachings there which you share to us. Very, very interesting. I spent 2 years with the Inuits here, and I confirm you that we share many and similar things with you guys,, the last real human beings of the North. Take Care Komrade. Oh, this film, was suggested to me by one of your followers, Circumpolar Bear Cult.

    Lars, great video. A you said it's nothing, but for us non,Europeans, its fantastic. Just away from the back yard, Eating from the forest? Bear is it ok and worth it,? If so Show us. Nails are so useful hardly any one out of the real wilds like Russia carry them? what tool would you use in the fixing of nails, True a perfect tool would be best but bulky, where multi tool increases usage when needed. Cheers

    How far north is that place you live in, for example compared to Finland? It just seems like autumn isn't that prominent there yet.

    • @RazomDoPeremohy
      @RazomDoPeremohy Před 6 lety +5

      Finland is country 1,160 km in length, roughly situated between the 60th and 70th parallels north. Lars' homestead is approximately 40 km north of the 58th parallel north. And I will say no more :)

    Lars dont want to be critical but I will be: Dosnt the height of your hunting stand put you out of range of most animals with a shotgun. You will end up stretching he barrel. Such an angle will also make it dam hard to hit anything
