How To Build A HUGE Craft Table (Or Sewing Table, Or Workroom Table)

  • You can find the written instructions for this craft room table build here: www.addicted2decorating.com/t...
    Correction: When attaching small trim, I use 18-gauge nails, not 16-gauge like I said in the video. :)
    I've been wanting a HUGE sewing table for well over a decade now. I wanted one large enough to fit one full drapery panel, so the table needed to be 5 feet wide and 10 feet long.
    Well, I finally have it! But instead of building one table, I built two big craft tables that could be used separately, or clamped together to form one HUGE workroom table. In this video, I show you step-by-step how I built the tables.

    Really nice video Kristi. I like that you did a voice over so the noise of the machinery did not compete with your instructions. Very clear instructions and easy to follow with the video. Both you and your mom looked good on camera. And your voice is pleasant to listen to. A+

      Thank you! I wondered if I should have left some of the machine sounds very low. I thought that might make it more "real". But I do agree that it might have been distracting.

    Wow, gal. Great job. So easy to understand, and you make what I know was a lot of hard work seem do-able for those of us who know little about woodworking. I would only offer the suggestion that you not point the nail gun toward any of your body parts when nailing pieces of wood together and use eye protection when appropriate. After all, we would like you to be around to post another video.

    What a great easy design. I recently moved and couldn’t bring my old cutting table with me. I had made it in place and couldn’t get it out the door! So … I have to make a new one. For my top I glue down a thin flat thermal batting and then a canvas cover that is pulled tight and stapled underneath. I then mark my inch grid to follow for making draperies etc. I can iron on it or set a cutting mat for quilt projects.

    • @KristiLinauer
      @KristiLinauer  Před 3 lety +1

      They're about 32" high. I made them specifically for me, and I'm only five feet tall. A standard kitchen counter is 36 inches high, and that's too tall for me. So I went with 32, and it's perfect for me. But if you're taller, you'll want to adjust for whatever height will be comfortable for you to stand and work at for long periods of time.

    • @KristiLinauer
      @KristiLinauer  Před měsícem

      I found a bar stool that is adjustable height, so I have it adjusted to a little above standard chair height. And then my feet rest comfortably on the bottom shelf of the table. If I need to sew, I put the sewing machine pedal on that bottom shelf where my feet are. It’s very comfortable.

    What is the height of your table?

    • @KristiLinauer
      @KristiLinauer  Před 2 lety

      I think it's about 32 inches. I'm only 5' tall, so standard countertop height (36") is too high for me. That's the great thing about building your own! You can customize the height to whatever you need.
